Polo, i think some fans would be happy if it all went tits up.

I'd rather see us in blue etc. but i won't be giving myself a heart attack on here over it.

I can't see vinny losing sleep over a few grumbling over a free scarf either.

no. What has happened to our club to have the Malaysians branded as greedy owners?? Lets not forget Harry Redknapp was involved with the Pompey downfall.

The amount of old heads who were at Huddersfield last week bears testament to the fact that the majority just want to see Cardiff City do well first - Colour of the shirt second

It's quite a selfish attitude imo.

If they had a choice between liquidation or red shirts and they chose liquidation that's unfair on the thousands who would accept a shirt change.

If they want liquidation they can pretend it has been liquidated and form a phoenix club.

Spot on. Top post.

Its all being blamed on the "new fans", thats a load of bollocks. I have been 20+ years following City, so have most of my mates, and we are happy to see City winning, and as you say accepting the changes for the benefit of the club.

We went through the shit times, now we are embracing the good times. Prefer to be in blue obviously, but the team winning is more important than what colour shirts they are wearing.

This is my 25th season supporting City and the old days in the lower divisions are still up there as my best days out. Oxford away in a pre season friendly this season, we were welcomed with a big "Welcome Cardiff City" sign in the pub outside the ground. Macclesfield away was also a top trip. Compare these trips to the Old Trafford's if we go up next season where we will be bused into the ground on a coach hours before the game, then see the game and be bused straight back out and it's no comparison what trip is the better day out.

Of course, I want us to be successful, but the elation I will feel if we win the league and lift the trophy at Hull in red will be nothing compared to the elation I felt when we won the Fourth Division trophy under Eddie May or the playoff final against QPR. Next season if we go up, we will be paying extortionate prices to see an unrecognisable Cardiff City trying to compete in the Premiership. Yes, I will probably be attending the majority of these games, but it's the trips to Fulham, Everton and Spurs that excite me the most, proper stadiums with proper fans and proper atmospheres, just like the die hards at the lower league grounds.

So if you gave me a choice out of us getting to the Premiership in red, or going back to the lower leagues with our blue, Bluebird and identity back, then I would choose the lower leagues in blue every time; simply because I will have more enjoyable, cheaper trips away in the lower leagues, seeing proper grounds with character and being surrounded by the die hards giving a proper atmosphere.

So to answer your question, yes I would rather be a Pompey fan. Times are tough for Pompey at the moment, but they are too big a club to struggle down there for years and they will eventually bounce back. If VT pulls the plug and we turn into another Pompey, do you really think we would be stuck down in the lower leagues forever? We are a capital City and we would eventually bounce back. I would happily take 10-20 years in the lower leagues in blue than a lifetime of Premiership football in red. But obviously, these are my feelings and we currently have a fan base full of glory hunters who want instant success and Premiership football right now.

Re: Portsmouth FC

Thu Feb 14, 2013 8:03 pm

I do not think anyone likes the red but a lot have accepted it for the love of the club then there are others who wont accept the red and want blue only for the love of the club :o :o

On Tuesday night if someone wants a free scarf my only hope is that no other supporter who hates the red doesnt start having a go that is not acceptable

What I will say is that all home games this season there is a lot of supporters in red shirts I just hope as supporters we just respect each other acceptance and support the club and hope that we go back to Blue but if we go up I think Tan will see that as Red is lucky and we will have difficulty getting it back Blue

Re: Portsmouth FC

Here's a thought...

Tan DID NOT come to Cardiff City, he DID NOT save the Club from the HMRC
and the circling vultures. Cardiff City Football Club DID go bust...

League rules mean that Cardiff City Football Club CAN start again... but have
to do so as Cardiff Phoenix FC or Cardiff Borough, or Cardiff United. Would
anyone prefer red to something like that? Not a sarcastic question. Not looking
for a bite/argument/confrontation.

To be honest if we had to do a Rangers, meaning we would get back to playing in blue with the Bluebird as the main emblem on our badge, I would be all for it. I know that would mean our history of achievements, including the 1927 FA Cup win would be wiped away, but at least it would feel like I would be back to watching the "real" Cardiff City in blue again. I would find it a lot easier to get behind a new Cardiff City in blue than our current Cardiff City in red. Just my opinion of course and I imagine the majority will disagree with this.

To be fair everyone was going on about Rangers being called Rangers Newco, or Newco Rangers or whatever they were going to be called. But everyone has already got back to referring to them as Rangers and when they work their way back up to the SPL and battle it out with Celtic for the title again, most people will completely forget about them starting from scratch again. I believe the same would happen with us, we would restart as Cardiff City Bluebirds or something along them lines, but everyone will quickly refer to us as Cardiff City. I would honestly rather us restart as a blue Cardiff City than continue supporting a red Cardiff City for the rest of my life. But I appreciate many of you will disagree and feel completely different to me.

I hadnt even contemplated that. A new name would mean losing our 'Honours list'

Wiping away our FA Cup win, three appearances in the Final, Runners up in the league,
League Cup finalists, European Cup winners Cup semi-finalists?? Surely THAT would be
turning our backs on our history and tradition more than a change of shirt (something
we have done before) Hmmmm.. dont think I like that idea at all feller :o

The rules would mean a new name, not much you can do about rules, but the identity spirit will be there.
