Slightly off topic there must be something in the water within the confines of Cardiff. Giggs, Bellamy and Bale 3 World Class performers; just a shame they never came through our youth system.

Bale is a great player but until he moves to a better team, we won't know IF he can be better than ronaldo. so far ronaldo has got 33 goals in 34 appeances this season where as bale has 13 goals in 28 appearances. I wonder which one I would prefer in my team at this moment in time

You have to look at the quality the both players play against each week.
Are the teams that Ronaldo plays against in the Liga stronger than the mid table premier sides?

Bale's absolute class, but Ronaldo is on another level all together.

Very very interesting stats that. Bale could be as good as Ronaldo honestly we will just have to wait and see

The original point is hes better than him NOW though.
No chance. Jeff Stelling couldnt have seen Ronaldo play for about 6 years if he reckons he has no strength and power and is just tricks.

This^.
What people are forgetting is the Ronaldo scored 40+ goals every season. That is the part of Bale's game that he is nowhere near Ronaldo in.

Intresting debate and I would say Ronaldo.
But you got to look at the team Bale is in.. Bale I believe can play for anyone.. he carrys Spurs through some games this season.
Ronaldo has shown his class in the Premier League and La Liga.. Ronaldo has even showed his class for international.. he carried Portugal through a lot of games in the Euros.
There is no point in comparing them as Ronaldo is playing for Real Madrid.. playing Champions League Football regulary and scoring the same amount of goals as games in his career at Real Madrid.
I love commitment etc in Football but Bale has the chance to make a name for hiself and he will need to move soon.

Bale NEEDS to move this summer. He is in the form of his life and it will be difficult to replicate that for another entire season at a club like Spurs. He needs better players around him to realise his full potential.
Easy to slag off Bale but H2H at the same point (99 games) he surpasses Ronaldo whilst playing for a team of lesser quality. Ronaldo's first 99 were at United as we know. However, with that comes added pressure I suppose. Then you also have to factor in that Bale played defence for a while also.
Interesting but a mate of mine who is not really into football was watching the highlights earlier on SSN in the pub and said 'Bale is a lot like Ronaldo'. Its kind of true apart from the tricks. Explosive pace, direct, pushing defenders onto the back foot, clever one touch passes.
I doubt we'll ever get to compare at Premiership level on a fair basis as I believe he will end up at Madrid rather than United. If Di Maria stays they will be frightening next year if Bale joins them. Bale----Ronaldo-----Di Maria playing in behind a striker in a 4-2-3-1 system. Those three floating everywhere would be a nightmare for defenders and could see them winning the CL.
Is Bale better now? No. Does he have the potential to be? Yes if he makes the right moves and decisions.

If he does get as high as them that would be class.
I would like to see him at United.. more chance of winning titles and champions league football every year.

Bale has potential to be a great and I would love to see him at Real Madrid alongside Ronaldo. But goals wise, Ronaldo is more than holding his own against Messi. The same cannot be said for Bale. Pretty sure Ronaldo has 3 or 4 hat tricks this seasom and has scored more goals than games he's played in.
Ronaldo would be going down as one of the greats of all time if Messi wasnt around.

the problem with that "first 99 game" stat is that ronaldo was 18/19? he is a different player completely now.

Bale is up there with the top players but you can define yourself every game in the Prem, need to do it in the Premier League which he is more than capable of doing.
It is a crime that he won't grace the international stage.

If I was Spurs chairman Daniel Levy I'd be a worried man now because Gareth Bale is playing too well, for both club and country.
We already know that Bale is held in high regard by some of Europe's biggest clubs and recent stellar displays have put him firmly back in the shop window.
His goal in Wales' 2-1 friendly victory over Austria was his 17th in all competitions this season and came swiftly after those two superb strikes in the Premier League, against Norwich and West Brom.
I just worry, from Spurs' point of view, that an offer might come along in the summer that they can't refuse.
I heard Jamie Redknapp say on Super Sunday that Bale is 'absolutely world class', that he's 'as good as Ronaldo'.
I don't often disagree with Jamie, but I think it's got to the stage where you can say that Bale is better than Ronaldo because he's simply unplayable.
That's not to denigrate Ronaldo, who has got all the tricks and dynamite in his boots - but so has Bale.
What Bale's got that Ronaldo hasn't is incredible strength and power; Ronaldo is quick but when Bale gets up a head of steam, there's no stopping him.
I'd love to know who the fastest player in the Premier League is if it's not Bale. He's adaptable, too - he can play wide or down the middle. If you want him to do a job defensively, he can do that as well.
Wales fans won't thank me for saying it but it's such a shame that we are unlikely to ever see him play in a major tournament.
It's the 'George Best syndrome' all over again: Bale is one of the best players in the world and as much as I'd love to see him at a World Cup, despite his best efforts, it's not going to happen.
I was in Portugal this week and I saw Ronaldo score against Ecuador and it was a fine goal, but I'm hard pushed to think of another player in Europe (aside from Lionel Messi) who gives you the all-round quality that Bale gives Spurs.
He's the reason why Spurs are where they are now - fourth in the Premier League - and he's the one who could drive them on to a Champions League place, which is the minimum Spurs will need to keep him.
Bale v the world. Wales 200/1 to qualify for World Cup. With Bale's present form that's a vey good price!!

Are we really suggesting Bale is better than Ronaldo?
The same Ronaldo who's banged in 151 goals for Madrid in the last 2 and a half seasons?
Ffs is he even the best player in the Premier League? Suarez and RVP may have something to say about that.
Ok he's had a wonderful start to 2013 and is a fantastic talent but he wasn't that great in 2012 and is a clear level below Ronaldo and Messi who are 2 of the greatest ever.
