Moving an English club across the border? That certainly won't happen and neither should it.

Top half of the Premiership?

Undoubtedly after 5 years or so both old firm clubs will be in the top half of the Premiership. They are two massive clubs with massive fan bases only restricted by the league they play in, the riches of the Premier league will change that. It's not going to happen though so it's pointless discussing it.

If Liverpool, Newcastle & Arsenal struggle to be a success then I can't see either of the Old Firm challenging. They are big fish in a small pond but I still think they would drown in a river. Overhyped.

Those three teams regularly finish in the top half of the table though. Rangers get 46k in the Scottish third division. Imagine how many they could pull in with a larger stadium in the Premiership.

Rangers are getting the big crowds because they have the them against the world mentality just now. Look back through the years at both sides of the old firm and see all the shite figures they have churned out. Celtic's REAL crowds have been horrific this season - not the figures they publish, the figures that actually turn up.

They would both pull crowds in the Premier League but I can't see them challenging at the top end.

Does anybody else think scottish football would progress if they had more teams in the SPL?
Understandably there would be quite a high percentage of shit teams in there but surely the more teams, therefore more players playing top flight football week in week out the better...
Like all sports u only get better by playing someone better than u, if we were playing barry town week in week out our players would never progress, but when they have to battle week in week out the majority would improve over time surely...

Rangers buy their way into the pyramid system down here, and leave Celtic hanging... How ironic

After all the posturing in Scotland lately, it would make for a good laugh. One thing though, all this is heading straight for team UK becoming a permanent fixture.

If team uk becomes a permanent fixture, then we will have a uk league next.

I cannot see Rangeers being allowed access without others being allowed.

Annis, I dont understand how it would guarantee sellouts at the ccs. Surely the best players would just transfer to the top leagues and the fans of teams in the new division 2 (old bottom half) would disperse as if their team had been relegated! It would just dilute the quality even further and put a huge gap in quality between division 1 and 2

Just the name Rangers guarantees a sell out, plus their massive support where ever they go.

Quite possibly, raises another point as well, if that is the final outcome then Rangers will have FIFA's full backing because a UK team has been a long term ambition for FIFA, to get rid of the home nations having a place each on the board. Interesting.

Would love Rangers to join the English system. Anyone saying it is wrong for them to be in the English system is a hypocrite to be honest as we are a Welsh team in the English pyramid system. I do however think that if they join they should have to prove they are financially in the black and prove that they can make or at least forecast a decent profit. A percentage or profits should then be taken to pay those that the club owe money to. Taking them in is not the problem but with the state football in this country is in financially, especially at grass roots, there is no place for another leech of a club. If the club enters they should have to give something as a gesture and pay into the system etc. to help out at grass roots level.

one slight difference, we are a professional team without a professional league in our country and the same cannot be said for Rangers.
