Bottom line is; we don't know whether this is scare-mongering, concrete truth or absolute bollocks

One reasonable plan would be for the Millennium to be used whilst CCS is expanded as per many posters on here wishes. We know that the increase to 35000 would require significant works and, in my experience, such projects are quicker and cheaper if the contractors can work on an "clear" site.

That is purely conjecture on my part but carries about as much weight as any of the other theories posted here  :ayatollah:

Never going to happen
The seats are mostly blue and green so your little red seat theory is bullshit.
The rent would be absolutely ridiculous.
In the middle of the season they hold a little rugby tournament called the six nations in there.
Who ever said tans after the land around it you should win a medal for dipshit of the year.

This shits getting beyond

The Millennium Stadium is already red and has red outside also.

Say what you want but they originally wanted us in there in the first place but Hammam didn't want it. Tan would love it. 30,000 City fans, segregation is easy due to the split and he can get at least 5000 away fans in there each game for money.

How is it not win-win for Tan? He doesn't need to spend money redoing the stadium or increasing capacity and he can make high profits off of attendances. Surely people realise by now that this is all about money.

So what happens when the Six Nations, Autum Internationals, Rugby World Cup fixtures happen?! You really are a helmet.

They will play in the CCS as they have wanted to for some time because of the pitch.

Long term plan has always been for hotel and conference centre on the Cardiff athletic club land. Just need to find a new home for the rugby club and big red one for Tan's Dragons.

What Tan wants he normally gets.

The millenium has always struggled to break even and repay building costs so any potential tenant would have plenty to bargain with when agreeing a price. As for the rugby games we never play on the same day as the stadium is used for a big rugby game so wouldn't be a problem, could be worked into football fixture planning process easily

You do realise that the land next to the millenium stadium can't be built on. That's why the stadium is a funny shape. That's also why there isn't a conference room built into the millenium stadium.

The odd “big” game at the millstad, sw derby, top4 clubs might work if they were made into an "event" type thing and the welsh media, public jumped on the bandwagon, I wouldn't want us to make it our home though. The novelty would soon wear off, and crowds wouldn't hold up. we haven't got and wouldn't get the big "plastic fair-weather" support the big clubs have like man united arsenal etc to warrant a move to a 74k stadium. we would have to be an established prem league club regularly finishing in the top 6 and European football each season to even remotely be able to attract crowds for the millennium to be our home stadium Lol a 35k ccs would be more than adequate for us, if we did get promoted and managed to avoid relegation in our first season, imo

Should i type more slowly so you can understand? They only got rid of the Blues not Cardiff rugby club. They are the people with the ties to the athletic club land that would need to be removed. The whole set up including the Blues would need to move to a new home not just the Blues playing their games somewhere else.

Re: Anyone for the Mill Stad?

Now that promotion has become a distinct possibility, the club may be thinking of revising the time-scale of the
alterations to our stadium. We have been informed by posters on this forum that in the event of us attaining premier
league status, the seating arrangements at our stadium would be reconfigured slightly so that the capacity would be
increased to 27,000 for next season and if we managed to stay up for a second season then the capacity would
further increased to the 35,000 which has been allowed for by design.
If the powers that be are now having second thoughts on this and are considering increasing the
capacity to its maximum straight away, then there are two possibilities open to them.
(1).They can do what Blackpool did and obtain permission from the Premier League to play their first six or eight
home fixtures at their opponents grounds and then play the scheduled away fixtures at home,OR
(2).Obtain permission to play the requisite number of home games at an alternate venue(MillStad),while the work
is carried out on CCS.
Obviously,in order to make an informed decision, enquiries as to the availability of the alternate venue would have
to made.

you are correct hence silly north stand bit! Athletic club refused to move at time so alternative shape done it will now cost in excess of 25MIL To alter now instead of couple mil at time of building it

I hope you are right but it concerns me that it wouldn't take a lot of money to sort all of the blues and the original Cardiff rugby club's problems out so it would probably be small change to Tan if he decided it was what he wants. If the idea gains momentum our best chance of a quick end to any grand plans probably lies with the stubborn old guard in charge of the semi pro rugby club putting a stop to it.

It would cost them alot of money. First off we are a club alread losing £1 million a month, I know being in the premiership will hopefully prevent that but you got to remember there will be a big hike in wages etc. Next we already own a stadium so I dont know what he would do with that. If he wanted to rent it to the Blue it wont happen as just as last time they cant fill it or afford the rent. Next we will have to rent the millenium stadium which again will be costing as a fortune in rent and we wouldnt be able to fill it to the full 70k capacity.

Overall it would be a largely stupid idea to go through with even if Tan was thinking of doing it. It would be far cheaper for him to expand the CCS and if he wanted to change the seats.

Re: Anyone for the Mill Stad?

What i fail to grasp is how people dont see through all these 'rumours'

There is an hardcore of bitter supporters or ex supporters that are
determined to undermine what Tan is doing no matter what.

ANY rumour or story that shows him in a bad light is jumped on and
manipulated and used in the 'war against Vincent Tan'...

Its pathetic.

Its the same ones that were doing it all last season BEFORE any talk
of a rebrand was mentioned

Thank f**k only a gullible few on messageboards are falling for it

Someones either been sniffing glue or petrol. What a load of crap. There's no financial benefit in going to the millennium stadium.
We would never fill it, even at the top the most we would get Is prob 50k. Tan would have to invest some serous cash to get into the top of the premier to have even a chance of getting 40k plus in there.

Thought all this was internet bollocks but after reading the above now I feel its feasable.

VTs promise of investment has been luke warm to me and its getting colder. I don't consider the the new players
he has brought as solid proof due to the fact he needs us in the premier to stand any chance of not losing face. I will judge his intentions on the other pieces such as debt to equity, training facility and finally the expandion of the stadium.

Lately the expansion has turned a corner as I was under the impression if we went up then it would go ahead. Now we hear we need to spend a season in the premier for it to go ahead. I took that as a let down. Obviously I hope my fears are unwarranted and I hope there is some truth in all of this above.

If the rumour of us using the Mill Stad is true then IMO this is the most credible explanation why.

Re: Anyone for the Mill Stad?

Fri Jan 04, 2013 5:57 pm

Why are people shocked?

He just changed our club from blue to red.
He wanted to change the badge to a dragon but he kept the bluebird because the fans went mad so that was his compromise.

However, how long will the bluebird remain? Im saying it will be gone sooner rather than later as Tan didn't want it to be there this year.

Yet people still seem shocked. I don't get it at all. We are dealing with a man who will do whatever he wants because he has the power and we have none. That is the truth. There is nothing this man could do to shock me.

Why spend millions to increase the size of the Cardiff City Stadium when there is a massive stadium down the road with plenty of streets?

Why spend money on changing the seat colour when most of the seats in the Millennium Stadium are red?

To Tan all that matters is money. He is in a period where he is investing more than ever. Just do some research on the guy and you'll see that he is in the process of trying to buy out Peter Lim for his shares in a company because he wants more power over yet another organisation. The man is power hungry.

40,000 in the Millennium Stadium including 5,000 away fans is better than 30,000 in the Cardiff City Stadium with 2,000 away fans.

1) To get up to that attendance in the CCS we'd need an extension
2) More money even if the Millennium Stadium is only half full
3) The cost of the rent will probably be offset by allowing certain rugby games and events at the CCS

Will it be bad for fans? Damn right it will be the worst thing ever for us. We will be in an even bigger soulless bowl. We'll be miles away from the away fans - the police forces wet dream - and we will probably have to pay higher ticket prices.

People seem to forget that Tan doesn't really care about us. He has money on his mind and only money. He will change anything on a whim if he thinks he can get more money from it.

Re: Anyone for the Mill Stad?

Fri Jan 04, 2013 6:08 pm

I can see there being some truth in this.

It can't hurt for Tan to make some inquiries and as said earlier on in the thread as the WRU are losing so much money i'm sure favourable rent terms could be found.

They could even lower tickets prices to make sure it's fuller and rely on catering sales to make up the difference.

Massive problem with that though. If the stadium doesn't fill up ticket prices go through the roof. The only way to keep prices down is if the stadium fills up like Dortmunds and that causes prices to drop. I can't see us getting that many going to games. United, Liverpool, maybe because the plastics will turn up in their thousands if there are seats available but not for a game on a Tuesday vs Stoke.
