And when we get to the promised land my dear Taffy, what type of football would be needed for us to stay there?i only ask that question in light of the fact that Swansea City, and it really does hurt me to say this, have managed to stay in the premier league, playing open and attractive football

Yes they have. My dearest Angeldelight, we signed Nicky Maynard at the start of
the season. He and Helguson were starting to get an understanding, they were
starting to 'gel'... with those two up top and Bellamy, Noone and Whittingham
supplying the bullets, we would be hammering teams right now. As it happens
we are second top goalscorers anyway, with the best goal difference and SEVEN
points clear.

For all Swansea's 'attractive' football... They have scored an average of 1.4 goals per game
Cardiff City have scored an average of 1.9 goals a game. So if its GOALS you want to see
then get your arse over to a Cardiff City game :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Hate to say this my dear Taffy, but you really did not answer my question so i will repeat it.......what type of football would be required for us to stay in the promised land?

My take on it is that the quality of our training techniques and the amount of hard work the players put in together as a group........ the luckier we get. ;)

It's pretty self-explanatory chap, I don't understand all this "total football" stuff when clearly our first 2/3 seasons in the prem would be consolidating and concentrating on staying there. I wouldn't care what type of football we played in that time as long as we win.

When we have consolidated and strengthened we can then look to play a more attractive and fluid type of football. Points on the board comes first, performances second.

Chelsea in the Champions league being a prime example. :ayatollah:

angelis49 wrote:Your argument has merit my dear Taffy, but i do hope your not suggesting that the only way for our club to succeed,is to play ugly football week after week after week, other than the Blackburn game, where Malky must have been elsewhere, and someone else was in charge that night, when was the last time you saw City win with panash and style?

Never once seen you say anything good about the team on here, bore off.

My point dear droopy is this, the dour defensive almost robotic football that Mackay gets his team to play, may well get us success in the Championship but will be found wanting in the Premiership, and if that does come to pass what would be your solution then old son?

I have said it in another thread... West Ham were exactly the same, allardyce's football has always been the same and he very rarely de-stabilises a club. I am sure that Malky knows what he is doing and he has more in his locker than just route 1 football. I'm sure you have witnessed this adleast once this season surely? :ayatollah:

Dearest ''AngelBaby dont you spread your wings''....

Stoke have based their whole strategy for survival in the top flight on solid defence
and route one football. Bolton survived for years doing the same. Swansea, to their
credit, do knock the ball around nicely, but this is only their second season in the
top flight. Michu has proven to be the signing of the season, without him they would
have scored a total of 18 goals and would be deep in the shit.

Malky Mackay will base his tactics and formations according to the players he can
get in next season, dependant on the money available

After 26 games last season, west am & s'hmton had 50 points a piece - we've got 56 now...
we must be doing something right.

Been to all four games. Not lucky at all. Three clean sheets. Beat Palace after being a goal down. Scored 5 goals, conceded 1. Could have got a second goal in all of the 1-0s. What's lucky about that? What's lucky about having a good goalkeeper? And good defenders?

We may, or may not, get promoted, but why do some people want to be constantly negative? Like Steve Tucker in the egg-chasers' gazette this morning. Terry Phillips was a bit better in the Echo. Now is the time to keep calm, and get fully behind Malky and the lads :ayatollah:

Missed yesterday, but just watched the whole second half on CCPlayer. Birmingham City
did not have ONE shot on goal that wasn't charged down, and only had three that were.
Marshall did not make ONE save.

We used to moan that Jones never found us that defensive midfielder to protect
the defence. Yesterday we had SIX. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Malky's tactics away from home (now) are perfect. If Bellamy's shot just after half-time
hadn't been cleared off the line it would have been 2-0 to City. THATS when the
opposition throw caution to the wind. Thats when we can end up getting 4 or 5. Its
not really happening, but we're still winning.

Arsenal won Premiership titles using the same dour, safety first football. End of discussion
