The problem is for Swansea is it's all over, never to come back, that was the best time in their 100 year+ history and it's gone forever.

They were gloating 5 years ago when we had Tan and all the hassle we had, while they were the perfect club with fans on the board. It's changed a bit now though hasn't it.

Were the 1960s were irrelevant too when we had 2 seasons in Division 1 and the rest in Division 2, while Swansea had about 5 years in Division Two and the rest in 3 & 4? That would be irrelevant to a Swansea fan. We all keep quiet when the other team are doing better than our own, except this chap. But they'll still play the 'Swansea Way' whatever that is, as if they invented a style of football. I suppose the Swansea way is staying in the bottom half of the table for most of the time....but not to worry it's the "Swansea Way'. They've got barely a team now to put out. I'd be more worried about the owners and the finances even after the sales of Mc Burnie and James which have basically save the club.

I remember int he 70s in a Rothmans Annual they did a list of clubs status based on their whole performance in the League, Cardiff were well down the list but still the top Welsh Club, and still would be if they did it again. It was based on seasons at each level of the League. I can't see how anyone can debate the issue, Cardiff overall have been better than Swansea, with Newport and Wrexham trailing way down, but above Aberdare and Merthyr. They have been better than us for the last 8 years , bar last season but were were better than them for the previous 10 years. But overall we all know who is best...

You don't honestly believe that do you? I can only imagine you are saying that down to the simple fact you have not won anything since, which is understandable. But it is blindingly obvious that achievements in the modern game are far more relevant than almost 100 years ago, the game is not recognisable in both standard and general gameplay.

I saw that historical table too, I believe there was 9 places between the club and that averaged their whole history. It is barely anything when based over 100 years or whatever date they went back to. My point is that our success has come at a time where the global game has boomed, meaning our success is far more relevant today. As I said, look at the global interest on the social media platforms, they are incomparable really.

Back in the 1920's it was much more of a level playing field, the game hadn't even developed into what we recognise today, money was not pumped into the game causing huge disparity. Foreigners had not come over meaning the pool of players was tiny making the standard pretty poor. You really cannot compare the two, and you all know that which is why you are throwing your toys out of the pram (thats the royal ''you'' btw, your post was actually well put together although I disagree entirely regarding its content).

As for it being gone forever... based on what exactly? I think we are almost in an excellent place to re-build with the facilities and infrastructure we now have in place as a result.

I can answer that one... It's because reading what you know to be true is annoying when you don't want it to be.

That's the situation here in a nutshell. I have said absolutely nothing even slightly controversial, not a single club in the world would take a cup win in the 1920's over a like for like cup win in the modern era. The only ones I guess that would claim otherwise is those that have won nothing since and is in a similar discussion with the hope to cling onto a past that 99% of the world wasn't alive to even witness. Its a barmy discussion.

I think you mean going to be good fun maybe?

If so, then absolutely. I am brutally honest when it comes to both clubs. I have absolutely no issues addressing problems with my own club, however they have to be real problems and not embellished. Thats what frustrates people here, they believe made up issues should carry as much weight as real ones, and the fact I dont allow them to get started and call the bull*hit from the start is something that irks - and that is fun.

Well yes it’s never fun to read things you don’t like I suppose.

But you know as well as I do that people can’t help but comment on Swansea threads and then look to complain when it doesn’t go their way, some need a touch of self control I would say?

I don’t mind bias from you guys, it makes me laugh but what you are saying in every post is just silly. Battling relegation most years and we hated it? :laughing6:

Bottom at Xmas.... but most points in the second half of the season than we ever had at any half season stage and was equivalent to the form of finishing 7th or 8th. It wasn’t a struggle.

But I see you now realise we weren’t battling relegation most seasons which is the main thing..

Glad we agree.

I see you lost to Wigan today, what happened? Genuine question.

I only see magical thinking on your part, to satiate your bias against Cardiff City. If any clubs honours are irrelevant pre social media, then there is no history for any club. That is bunkum, and to prescribe as such, is folly.

Try this. Swansea’s league cup win is now irrelevant, because it happened pre Brexit.

There’s no need to complain about that if you don’t like it.. after all, it only exists in my head.

The first contractors running the site were jax bay builders but they went bust seems like anyone with a connection with Swansea F.C. end up
Going bust :laughing5:

Did you really have someone in to build you a 'BAY   A bay is a naturally formed by nature, what you have is a mud flat on the Severn Estuary. You contract a firm to join two rivers together to form a fresh water pond and call it a bay. THE BAY

Re: Mcburnie is off

Sun Aug 04, 2019 8:56 am

Oh dear, another brain from the west has arrived.

Bay(defn):

a broad inlet of the sea where the land curves inwards.
synonyms: cove, inlet, estuary, indentation, natural harbour, gulf, basin, fjord, ria, sound, arm, bight, firth, anchorage;

No-one has joined any rivers. And lets be honest, who wants to go to a bay with panoramic views of an ugly city and major steel plant, and the water is dirty green.

You what my friend? This is what is described as a straw man argument, you are arguing against a stance nobody has made and only exists after being made in your head. I never once said achievements before social media was invented don’t count, I’m not even sure where you have even started in order to arrive at that conclusion.

If you were to ask me how long back to go, then I think reasonable living memory is a fair barometer in what is relevant today when it comes to football achievements. I don’t think that is at all an opinion that is out of the ordinary and one no doubt shadowed by most... well most that haven’t only won one trophy in the 1920’s and clinging into it as if it means something significant today.

Not sure what you mean by magical thinking, pretty much everything I have said is just stating facts, no thinking necessary.

They are doing no such thing, the accounts are there for all to see.

This transfer will pretty much erase any money concerns and have a small portion available to replace. A good player but 20m is a no brainer for us.

Come on you've been doing same for 7 yrs ( selling players at inflated prices) and still you are short of cash for a properly run club the money seems to be going down a very big drain?

Can you explain "Properly run club" Properly run clubs don't spend two promotions sitting at the bottom of the table.Maybe if you survived just one season up there it would mean something, try doing it for SEVEN.

Is that really the best excuse you can come up with for not being in the Premiership??Very very sad.

Why would we try that?
We'd end up attracting some u.s. consortiums who would buy us and asset strip us......Oh wait..... :laughing6: :laughing6: :laughing6:

We gave our supporters 7 years of Premiership football, while yours were nail biting the prospect of relegation from the Championship, even on your very short visits to the Prem. you failed to entertain them, failing on both occasions to get off the bottom.
