Fat cats that cost less than the ones we send to Westminster and the EU you mean.given the balance of power, you could also argue they do a lot more for less too

Hi Ninianman, If you want to quote "100% waste of space and time,a bunch of fat cats with their noses firmly entrenched in the trough" try the house of Lords before attacking the Senedd whose elected Members only have Wales`s best interests to keep them in a job. While as a Family now known as "Windsor" only came into being in 1917 after the events of First World War they chose to change their name (after their favourite paid by the State Castle) from their previous Germanic title of " Saxe-Coburg-Gotha" after fears from the peoples over throwing of the Russian Monarchy they appeared to Anglo-size themselves to prevent a similar revolution . The Queen is the Head of State in Commonwealth Countries who possesses the power to dismiss and appoint all new Prime Minsters and Parliament Members ( e.g Australia 1975), she can command Armed Forces, refuse Parliamentary Legislation and pardon committed Criminals,In these foreign lands where her subservient`s must swear allegiance to her and not the people who elected them, this includes not just Politicians but Lawyers, Judges & Police. The Crown Estate Leaseholds property to the Businessmen of the Commonwealth and this cash never makes it to the UK Treasury and yet the "UK" remains in a Financial deficit .She speaks to every elected Prime Minster once a week since her reign, not to mention old our good old " Prince of Wales" Charlie boys ( One of the richest Business men in the UK who has his own Tax Haven in Cornwall) continuous letters to the Prime Ministers for decades both of which are not part of the freedom of information act until a lengthy legal battle with the Guardian newspaper which was taken to the Supreme Court at the UK Treasuries expense, which broke a milestone in 2015 https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfr ... egislation (still can`t touch the queen though) I could go on and on about allegations in Jersey,Vancouver, and her close friendship to Jimmy Saville and Mount Batton but this debate is about the Senedd remaining to exist, So I will try leaving the Monarchy out of this discussion though I have mentioned them just to quote your words "100% waste of space and time,a bunch of fat cats with their noses firmly entrenched in the trough" , do you honestly trust the House of Lords as a better use of Tax payers money than the Senedd, this is not a Language topic (not that you mentioned it) its the about the future of Wales, do we just jest about being "The England Haters" or are we actually a entity of our own equal to the other members of the UK?

The fact other bodies, organisations or groups are self serving parasites doesn't change anything, the assembly is full of clowns more interested in feathering their own nests than looking after the needs of the people of Wales. You work/worked in the public sector, didn't you?

Please educate yourself about Fracking and the communities it ruins, doesn`t take many men these days per site maximum profit. Again, why call them parasites. If this thread has proven anything, AMs are less parasitic than the power hungry fools we send to London. Even at face value, it costs twice as much to send a politician to London than to Cardiff.

I personally believe democracy does come at a cost. I also don't see mass amounts of money being wasted. The last time I did it was the expenses scandal and... that happened where? Westminster

If you were to say all politicians are parasites and I dont want any money going to any, fair enough. At least that is a logical train of thought and we can leave it there

A Tory Minister praised the airport which has seen a 16% increase in passengers, won an environmental award and is the fastest growing airport in the UK.

Would he (someone who is I'm guessing anti-EU) prefer to see our airport still in the hands of a French private company who were refusing to put money into it?

The Welsh Office rebranded as the Wales Office post devo. I believe you are right that they do have an office in Cardiff somewhere. However, they are run from Gwydr House in London

Interestingly, for those of you wanting to go back to an un-elected Govenor General type system, you should read the academic literature on the Wales Office. It grew to control a £6bn budget, run by bureaucrats that nobody could boot out when they inevitably spunked it up the wall.

Also, it is well know that the Wales Office is the graveyard for ambition. Basically, it is where they send all the kids and the retirees. But yeah, lets be run by those

Do you understand how budgets work though. You get given money and then you prioritise spending.

As ive said, health is just under 50% of the budget, Welsh is less than 2%. As we have budgeted for it, we can afford it. I cant make it any clearer.

Maybe you think 2% is too much though? If so, I would argue you are being unreasonable

Is Wales perfect post devo? No, Will it ever be? No, is any country? No. I also hope you understand the difference between the Assembly and the government. So if you dont like this stuff, you vote to change the government, not abolish the Assembly and be run by the English

However, at least in the Assembly we elect them and they represent us. This also means we can kick them out. For example, under the Assembly system UKIP get around 15% of the votes and they get close 15% of the seats. This is fair. In the Westminster system, UKIP get 15% of the votes and get no seats.

Need I also remind you at Westminster, the Tory's came second in Wales, yet they get the Secretary of State for Wales. Currently, Alun Cairns is appointed by a PM who nobody has elected either.

If any offence was caused, I apologize. Scroll back through the thread and you'll see my posts are based on fact, reason and principle.

The bloke I 'offended' said essentially said the WG should not have bought Cardiff Airport. This happened yesterday

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-politics-38842761

A Tory Minister praised the airport which has seen a 16% increase in passengers, won an environmental award and is the fastest growing airport in the UK.

Would he (someone who is I'm guessing anti-EU) prefer to see our airport still in the hands of a French private company who were refusing to put money into it?

Irrespective of the right and wrongs of the discussion, resorting to calling someone a loon and a spineless worm does nothing to get neutrals onside. The moment you come out with stuff like that is the moment people like me lose all interest in your side of the story.

Typical Taffia ranty shouty aggressive nonsense.

RE is no longer a compulsorily examined subject. Welsh second language is... taking up around 2-3 hours a week of a Yr10/11 kid's 25 hour timetable.

I'm sure most kids and parents would prefer it to be optional and the time given over to Science, Maths, English or their chosen option subjects.

I take it you're not Welsh or you wouldn't be running your country down as you do. There is a border, I'm sure you'd be happier living there.

Every country has its share of retards, see the SNP in Scotland for example, don't confuse contention over the absurd amount of tax payers money spunked on the Welsh Language with an attack on the country itself. My daughter got an science degree in Cardiff Uni, that's helped her career a lot more than speaking Welsh ever would, unless of course she chose to make a career in S4C.

2% is the amount we (the UK) spends on its defence budget, it may sound small to someone like yourself with a colossal knowledge of government finances but to an ordinary bloke like me it's a big chunk of taxpayers cash, that I believe could be better spent elsewhere. If someone wants to learn Welsh go to night school.

You've obviously got issues with our language, is this a historical thing? Not so much a chip, more of a plank on your shoulder! Please try and understand that it used to be the language of the people of most of Britain. When the english came they pushed us westwards to what is Wales now. It has suffered attack after attack and attempt after attempt to kill it, it's a wonder that it's still alive and making a revival.

Try reading my posts I have no problem with the language and have posted previously about the historical spread it had across Britian, including Scotland. My issue is the money spent on it and the force feeding of it in the English speaking Welsh media. I also appreciate the importance of retaining your indigenous culture. When the English came?, remind me of the origins of the House of Tudor. This hatred for the English is bollox, it was rich powerful men grabbing land and power, its always gone on. BTW at the Battle of Culloden the Jacobites were slaughtered by Welsh archers who fought on the Duke of Cumberlands side, as did many Scots.

Hi Jock call centre jobs are on the rise in Wales those with the ability to converse with Welsh Speakers gain a premium wage over almost every European language , register with agency as Welsh/English etc does your CV wonders. The Docks boys would never stand for a Union Jack home or away, for that travel west to Jackland, Abertawe FC , SCFC aka Swansea City F.C who have always allowed encouraged that behaviour, I Hope to meet you someday, good debate I think, anyhow as for the SPL Aberdeen will get second, Celtic have took the title without a doubt. What you saying on that prediction for second place? The Assembly passed the motion that ensured Welsh students did not pay top-up fees. Was your Daughter a exception from this due for its self serving "Taffia" only rules?

Henry Tudor duped the gullible locals into extending Wales`s own Borders he then took the Crown of England and treated the Welsh worse than before. Welsh Mercenaries fought the Jacobites, Both sides in Orange Revolution, French Revolution, anywhere there was a boat too, post contract .Least there was Henry Morgan the Welsh "Pirate" (slave master) whose Captain Morgans Rum once adorned the roof of the Bob Bank.History is gone but worth knowing you can never learn enough, the internet is a library at your fingertips, read multiple sources educate yourself as your choose its the real Open University Nos Da

The shame being is they believe their self perpetuating rubbish and that is how we are stuck with the white elephant of Cardiff Airport and Carwyn's darkroom fiddlers massaging the figures and other such 'vanity' projects for the Taffia.

Independent reports at the time stated cardiff Airport was worth about £20-30m - yet Carwyn and the Taffia boyos thought it prudent to blow just over DOUBLE the mid point figure on it at £52m!!

Compulsory Welsh language lessons in comps are a joke - most Yr 10/Yr11 kids don't want it forced down their throats and see compulsory Welsh lessons as a chance to piss about, sleep or complete homework from other subjects - some will resign themselves to going through the motions and pay it lip service but I've yet to see a kid in a compulsory Welsh lesson actually want to really do well in it - either that or they kept their powder very dry and hidden.

You talk of the Taffia as if they exist you loon. Nobody has infiltrated anywhere, I'm a Welsh Cardiff fan like you.

There were two democratic referendums in the last 20 years, both were won.

As for Cardiff airport - http://www.walesonline.co.uk/business/b ... s-11153242

As for the Welsh language, this is Wales. If you want to stop compulsory lessons, we'll target RE first methinks.

As it stands, Welsh Gov spend 50% of their budget on health, less than 2% on the Welsh language.

Basically, no need to wrap everything up with the snowflake bollocks. Just say what you mean.

Nice 1 Dogfound Euro 2016 was unforgettable, The Team sang the National Anthem as did the Fans, Hywl, we have come a long way as Nation ,lets not bow out politically before we have even got a chance to make our own decent legislation give it chance, The Language is the stick to beat the Senedd with,I`m all for giving us Referendums and being democratic about Language GCSE debate. Westminster is going to spend a whole lot of future Budgets on Trident shortly, So lets continue to Pay the AMs to raise their game or we vote them out. Banter is what its all about you got that right. Ninian Park was our gateway to the English Pyramid and onto 1927 and many amazing cup ties, Its in the past though. Our club is safe but is our country without the Senedd with Brexit Looming?
