"Rarely" being the operative word of course

And it hasnt actually changed in the context he is on about. I wouldnt call Everton a top side in the same bracket as the top 4 sides which is what it was about after reading it.

However Everton have improved and i would consider them a top side, but not ONE of the top sides. All about context.

This has nothing to do with context, in that thread you clearly stated Everton wont finish in the top 6 therefore not a top side then you go on yourself to say they can't be a top side as the have never finished in the top 3. However, now in your opinion to be a top side you just have to be in the top 10. Therefore, your opinion of what a top side is has changed so not exactlly rare is it when you continuously move the goal posts.

How can Everton be a top side but not one of the top sides? Surely its the same thing

It has everything to do with context. As ive said the term "top side" is as vague a term as you can get. I guess depending on context Leeds cam be considered one of the "top sides in england" considering they are in the "top" 2 tiers.

Hiwever my discussion with Alex was was regarding comparing eachothers fixtures. I said we had already played top sides in Chelsea, Arsenal and Man United - where he tried of offset one of those with Everton.

In that scenario I wouldnt call everton a top side. As i said, context is everything.

You were comparing top 6 sides where you disregarded Everton nothing to do with Alex comparing them to Man Utd or Chelsea.

In that thread you clearly state Everton can't be classed as a top side as they have never finished in the top 3, that doesnt need context. Now according to you, you can be a top side as long as you finish in the top 10. Big difference there

Well if you would stop getting excited and listen then you would understand.

Leeds united are in the top 2 tiers of english football. 32nd out of 92. It could be said they are one of the top teams in the country. But if discussing the big guns of the prem using the word top then Leeds most certainly wouldmt be considered a top team.

For this debate to progress you must understand the word "context".

Look at rugby with the TMO. Same replay, but depending on the slight difference in wording to the question from the referee the TMO will have a differing result. Context.

I want proof they have. Easier to prove they have since that would constitute an action on their part that would be more tangible than doing nothing which seems to be the case. He lacks the self control to stop even if harming his carefully contructed persona. It's a form of self neglect, which is why he will always need a quasi carer in his life, be that mother or aunt, sister(for the tennis)

With regard this worrying thread, Only he understands the context :? In my line of work people this 'out there' and detatched from a consensus point of view. If his Psychiatrist were watching this, He/She would have him in for assessment and want to see him every few days for atleast a fortnight just to see if his disaasociation develops into full blown Psychosis. He does persist without incurring damage to dignity but this arguments will zap his cortisl reserves as he engages with this board in a highly stressful 'fight or flight' approach. Tom Ince will hold talks with Swansea this afternoon after Blackpool gave the England Under-21 winger permission to move on loan to a Premier League club for the rest of the season.

Ince is out of contract in the summer but the Seasiders, who sacked the player’s dad Paul as boss last week, have agreed to let him go now in return for a loan fee.

‘Following discussions with Thomas Ince and his representative, permission has been given for Thomas to discuss a loan move to a Premier League club,’ confirmed a statement from the Championship strugglers.

‘Thomas has expressed his ambition to play in the Premier League for the remainder of the season, a decision that the club fully understands and supports.’

Crystal Palace and Hull are also interested in the former Liverpool man, but Swansea appear to be in pole position after it emerged Ince would travel to south Wales for talks.

Swansea’s local rivals Cardiff agreed an £8million fee for Ince last summer but the player rejected the move. The current option allows Ince the opportunity to prove himself at Premier League level, then test the transfer market as a free agent in the summer.
