Current profit of club acitivities in Asia: zero.
Future profit from Asia, via as yet unidentified income streams: ?????
This is all about maximising LOCAL profit by hoping 20,000 willing fans will buy new shirts cos the colours changed.
Just my opinion of course.

VT only announced this statement 3½ hours ago, just how much Far East income were you expecting by now?

I wasn't aware the football league /championship allowed individual club TV deals in other countries?

Even if we get to the Premier League, we'll only be massive over there if we win things. Malay/Chinese like to be associated with successful entities, not just colours.

You're right about the lack of other billionaires wanting to invest in Cardiff City though. It would take £100 Million + to buy out Tan and get what? At best a debt free championship club pushing for promotion, something the club is nowhere near yet. Why buy a championship club for £100 million when you could buy Everton for a similar amount? Perhaps its cos they play in blue?

well if this man is willing to inject £35 million in cash into our club for one season, I think he has every intention of making us successful    I think I would rather trust the judgement of this man (one of the most successful businessmen in Malaysia with massive connections across the far east than some Walter Mitty character such as the likes of Peter Ridsdale and Sam Hammam who both did so much to destroy our club. Why not buy Everton over us? because they have no infrastructure to speak of a piss poor stadium, massive debt and are about to lose the only good thing they have had in years i.e David Moyes. I think you will find they may very well be swapping places with us come next May. Then we may very well be a Premier League club with minimal debt ( all turned into equity) to speak of, a new stadium with plans to expand the capacity in place, our own training facilities, a quality youth policy and just an overall top infrastructure for a football club everything Everton doesn't have - oh and yes we have a brilliant manager that all clubs will be drooling over in the coming years    Wee have a successful far east businessman in control of our club. Everton have an ex Coronation Street actor in charge of them pmsl

Many of us have been putting our money where our mouths are for 20+ years, and when it comes to relative wealth we've put a damn sight more of our overall earnings in than VT, so I think that gives us more than enough right to voice our discontent thanks....

I take it you mean you've been paying to see Cardiff City Play.....I mean just donating and getting nothing in return, like paying every month into the Acadamy.....I wonder how many on here does that.

£35 million of which £10 goes to Langston......if we are lucky they agree. That leaves £25 million.....maths was my strong point at school. OK, we are losing £1.2 million a month so that is say £14million a year. That leaves £11 million.

Sounds good £11 million for new players...........lets see shall we.

Re: " Vincent Tan Statement "

When TG arrived I hoped and expected the Club would be run more sensibly and in a more businesslike fashion.

Since VT started calling the shots, the strategy's exactly the same as it was under Sam and Ridsdale - keep on gambling until we hit the Premier League jackpot so we can pay back all the debt we've racked up.

Cardiff City is being run with the same approach as that of the gambling addict who can't walk out of the bookies or the casino or step away from the fruit machine because he HAS to win next time to pay back what he's lost.

It's unbelievable to me how any of you can think that loading more millions of loans onto a club that's already up to its neck in crippling debt, is good news.

Are you all on drugs or something? If so let me have some.

I've trawled through 6 pages of this discussion and at last somebody has noticed something very relevant to the TV ownership discussion. The sale of TV rights for the Football League is the same as the Premier League, it is done on a collective basis both home and abroad, Tan cannot arbiterilly choose to screen Cardiff City games on his channel as he would be in breach of copyright laws. He may own the team but the Football League owns the product. And he would have to bid for those rights, just like SKY does in the UK and then hope to make a profit from charging to view and advertising. But most games shown in Asia will always be the PL games as far as English football is concerned. Sure if Cardiff achieved promotion then their profile increases immensely in Malaysia but that is still a big if. Based on the new investment whoever suggested £13million as the additional amount for Mackay to spend looks pretty much spot on, but that will include such things as transfer fees, signing on fees, salaries and agent fees. It is also a similar amount that a relegated club from the Premier League receives in parachute payments for one season (times that by four seasons in total), so you then have a budget to compete with the likes of Wolves, Blackburn and Bolton and Blackpool from the previous season, (won't include Brum as it looks like that they are deep in the financial mire). It means that you should have a good chance of promotion, but it won't be a forgone conclusion, and if that is not achieved then what? Further investment from Tan or is the club put up for sale and he looks to cut losses. Certainly it looks like he is going for promotion this next season, especially with the Football League financial fair play coming along and the huge increase in Premier League TV rights just announced. Promotion will be the only way in which he may ever get his money back. Still should be fun!

Re: " Vincent Tan Statement "

Tan the gambling man. It's a case of borrow more money and put it on red or black. Or red or blue in our case. The plan to try to exploit an already crowded asian tv market seems fanciful to me. The market is the premier league and there are plenty of bigger teams that play in red there already Mr Tan. If we ever get to the promised land I just hope Tan gets his money back and disappears. He has real no interest in our 'club', he is a gambling venture capitalist pure and simple.

I know thats what they say - still don't get it. It it was that easy every team in the league would play in red ??

I fully appreciate we all have a different perspective on things - but it seems like we're expecting a bit of pixie dust ;)

Lets just all wait and see, it might be that he will not get the income from Asia that he thinks he will get, but what he is trying to do is grow the brand and the image in the far East, VT is a very sucssesfull buiseness man so it's time that the fans got off his back and started supporting him, my fear is a minority of fans will drive him away from the club, and that will do serious damage to this football club.

Re: " Vincent Tan Statement "

These people wanted to destroy the identity of the club without informing the supporters.
When that came out, they lied that nothing would change for next season.
And eventually they already rammed through their ridiculous ideas before anyone could notice.

These are lying, backstabbing people who don't care for the soul or supporters of Cardiff City.
And some just keep on defending them.

Grow a pair of balls, will ya.

That just has to be the largest lack of logic in all his plans and I really don't get why people keep on buying this nonsense.

In order to succeed with your merchandise in the far east you need to have big sportive succes.
There is no market for Cardiff over there, just because the club can never compete with huge 'brands' like Manchester United, Real Madrid, Chelsea FC or FC Barcelona.
Do you really think people over there will buy Cardiff City shirts because of the colour red and the dragon?

Really, lads. In a couple of years time we'll all have to come to the conclusion that it just doens't work that way. And the pro-red people will be sorry that they sold the soul of the club so they could believe in their fairy tale a little bit longer.
