So you accept you are and always have been a much smaller football club than us then cheers for clearing that up. Your about par with Bristol city similar number of seasons in top flight (though again unlike you they actually were runners up one year). We have almost double the amount of seasons as you in the top flight and are closer to the likes QPR or Palarse.

As for your greatest modern decade I would argue our ace to in Europe during this he late 60 and early 70’s far outweigh your achievements during your “golden spell” of 7 years in the prem.

Crochet was big in the early part of last century too, I’m just saying it has very little relevance to today.

If you think winning something at the top level today is the same as winning something in the 20’s then all power to you I suppose :D

You can argue whatever you like about the 70’s but we both know you wouldn’t have a leg to stand on. But you could try I suppose...

I didn’t compare them. I mentioned that what was popular before doesn’t really mean it’s relevant today.

Bury won the FA Cup twice back before the war too, as did Clapham Rovers and Old Etonians.

Would Bury swap their 2 FA Cups in Victorian times for 2 modern day professional FA Cup wins? You bet they would. There is a reason for that.

Would you swap your history for Cardiffs history? You bet you would. Always have been a smaller less successful club than us the facts don’t lie.

Isn’t it just a lot of Welsh Cups and a trophy almost 100 years ago?

Come on now, being biased is all well and good but I do think some on here need to get real. Ask Man City if they would swap their Premier League title in 2017 for winning the old first division in 1920. Let me know what they say :D

It not just that though is it. As you know we have outperformed you more top flight seasons 1 less than double in fact), higher finish in top flight your highest ever finish was 6th or 8th in your so called “best decade of welsh club football”, actually doing well and beating big clubs in Europe instead of losing first or second round every time or last 32 in the Europa league without beating anyone of note.

Just like all people from Swansea you can’t admit how jealous you are of Cardiff because of a inferiority complex. Keep try to convince yourself the facts are their for all to see :laughing5:

Small fry just like Bristol City.

So again, ask any Swans fan if they would swap 7 years of PL football for 13 years of Division 1 football 60 years ago and see what they say.

That’s the problem, you are equating them to the same value and they just aren’t in the same realm.

Look at the interest our time has generated globally. Do you really think people across the world are taking note of Cardiff because they won some Welsh Cups and won the FA Cup almost 100 years ago? Be honest with yourself.

A trophy that many clubs only dream of winning
or even get to a final (3) : plus a European record you can also only dream of! :laughing6:
As for man c back in 1920 it was a big thing for them why compare? Your trouble is same as all your friends down west that both clubs history only started 8 yrs ago when you entered premier league anything before then didn't exist as far as your concerned because it makes you feel better

History is forever, I’m not saying otherwise. What I’m saying is there is clearly more value between modern day success and success in the 1920’s, the game is unrecognisable and nobody in their right mind would swap modern day success for success 100 years ago. They just wouldn’t.

So by all means say you won x,y and z... but to use it as a reason as to why those are more valuable than modern day success is the issue and the issue that clearly all of the football world would recognise as such.

I wouldn't boast about Twitter or Facebook followers as sure if looked you'd find a monkey or the like have more followers than you?

He also doesn’t know his own clubs history if he thinks they have only had 7 seasons top flight instead of 9.

Guy knows the facts prove they are small fry so clutches at straws at things that have nothing to do with success on a football pitch.

Completely agree, Cardiff as a City is much more renowned than Swansea. I’m not sure what that proves though, we aren’t talking about cities we are talking about football clubs.

I can’t see Barnet fans claiming they are more successful than Liverpool because more people know London than Liverpool as cities.

As if you still have a million twitter followers, you only had people around the world checking who you even were because they saw you beat Arsenal or something in the PL a few years ago, it doesn’t mean they still follow you does it? Shame it doesn’t tell you if they actually follow you still as no doubt none will as you have always had a tiny fan base. Did you even sell 10,000 ST’s?

We past the million mark last week and growing.

Of course people started following us when they saw us beating Arsenal, Man City, Man United, Chelsea, Tottenham, Liverpool, many of them multiple times, Valencia 3-0 away, beating European Champions over 2 legs after beating 5 times champions league winners on the way to win a major trophy etc etc that’s how you grow your global exposure, grow a global fan base and become a bigger club.

This is why modern achievements are far more important that achieving things when nobody who follows football was alive to see it. You aren’t going to get people wanting to attach themselves to your club because you won a cup in the 1920’s. But we both know that.

Re: Mcburnie is off

Winning a trophy in 1927 , the FA Cup , Charity Shield and Welsh Cup in the same season, is as relevant now as it was then. Because in 1927 it was the here and now. Getting to a major European Semi Final in 1968 was relevant too. Yes, it's been lost in the mists of time but so will 7 seasons in the PL in 10, 20 years time. The problem is for Swansea is it's all over, never to come back, that was the best time in their 100 year+ history and it's gone forever.

They were gloating 5 years ago when we had Tan and all the hassle we had, while they were the perfect club with fans on the board. It's changed a bit now though hasn't it.

Were the 1960s were irrelevant too when we had 2 seasons in Division 1 and the rest in Division 2, while Swansea had about 5 years in Division Two and the rest in 3 & 4? That would be irrelevant to a Swansea fan. We all keep quiet when the other team are doing better than our own, except this chap. But they'll still play the 'Swansea Way' whatever that is, as if they invented a style of football. I suppose the Swansea way is staying in the bottom half of the table for most of the time....but not to worry it's the "Swansea Way'. They've got barely a team now to put out. I'd be more worried about the owners and the finances even after the sales of Mc Burnie and James which have basically save the club.

I remember int he 70s in a Rothmans Annual they did a list of clubs status based on their whole performance in the League, Cardiff were well down the list but still the top Welsh Club, and still would be if they did it again. It was based on seasons at each level of the League. I can't see how anyone can debate the issue, Cardiff overall have been better than Swansea, with Newport and Wrexham trailing way down, but above Aberdare and Merthyr. They have been better than us for the last 8 years , bar last season but were were better than them for the previous 10 years. But overall we all know who is best...
