behind the counter @ Tesco haven't got a f*cking clue .A bit of a trick Tesco use is when packing steaks (rump) they often cover the fatty part with the label making it hard to see what you're buying. Tue Sep 17, 2013 9:05 am

I live in Aber 10 months of the year. When I'm back in Cardiff I don't do the shopping. You can't talk about Cardiff either as you're from Merthyr.
Why the hell would I be talking about any other place? If I don't live in London I can't comment on the prices in London, same with Cardiff and same with Manchester.
I've not been found out at all Brownie. Im just admitting what I have found to be my experience when it comes to shopping. I was always talking about local to me because thats where I live and where I shop.
Its my experience that local shops in the majority are more expensive. Thats my opinion and I know because I have been to the shops around here where I live and shop (so the only place I can go by as I don't shop all up and down Britain to compare) and I know for a fact that supermarkets like LIDL undercut the local shops significantly.
I agree with you on the quality thing but in terms of price LIDL is the cheapest around here.

Yes. I don't buy that cheap mature cheddar rubbish most people buy. I'd rather fresh feta cheese cut. If you buy packaged crap then you will get packaged crap. Its quite obvious. Supermarkets provide alternatives at a premium.
I didn't know Feta had to be fresh. Thought there was a lengthy refining process involved. How old is fresh Feta?
Most supermarkets keep feta in natural brine which leaves a horrible overly salty taste on the cheese that is exposed. Fine if you are using it as a cooking ingredient, terrible as part of a chicken salad. Better to buy it from the cheese counter in natural fresh water rather than brine as it'll keep long enough due to salt content.

So Tesco sell gone off cheese? It's mass produced rubbish but it's not 'gone off' is it?

Its not as fresh as it should be. When supermarkets put their prepackaged stuff on the shelves its not as fresh as it should be. If you get it from the counter you get fresher stuff but it costs more.

Supermarkets don't do this, hence it tastes like shit compared to how it is used too.
Brownie, for an ex politician you ain't half thick. If the rest of them on our councils are anything of the same creed the Russians may as well nuke this island and save us all the inevitable doom.
Stick to buying your packet cheddar Brownie.

TESCO in St. Mellons, Cardiff don't and Morrisons here don't, although you can buy it in brine (i prefer it in fresh water) but that is more expensive again but as you said earlier with the meats, you get what you pay for, thats why I go to the butchers like yourself.
Each to their own.

Rather than argue with you, buy feta not in brine from the shelf and then buy a piece from the cheese counter and you will see the difference massively. The stuff on the shelf is dried out and disgusting in comparison to what you get on the cheese counter. The stuff in brine is okay but as already said its more expensive and doesn't go well with chicken. Feta in fresh water prepared properly is the only way sorry.

I live at home 2 months. I go to TESCO when I am at home because its like 2 minutes away from where I live. I don't know of any other shop in Cardiff as I don't go there and have no reason to do so.
The person who does his shopping all online trying to have a dig at others for shopping in store. You couldn't make it up.

Not the weekly shop no I don't because my mother loves shopping and needs to look at the clothes and everything which grinds my gears. I like to go into the shop, get what I need and leave. I do a little shop for stuff that I want myself out of my money and the rest my mother gets. Hope this clarifies the situation for you.
We aren't all living the dream like you and can do a £200 shop as a family whilst paying a bit extra to keep the local green grocer happy.

Only a little shop myself, nothing major. Chicken, eggs, lettuce, cheese, whey, etc.
My mum gets the rest on the Saturday shop.
