Didn't watch City when he was in charge but from all the stories I've read about him over the years, he seemed like a top bloke and a huge loss not just to the club/fans but his friends and family.

He was one of us - our manager

No political correctness or staged answers - just straight. His smile was infectious and the Big Man liked playing football.

They were also good days, no seating, no pressure, no facist steward/policing. We were the kings of the lower leagues.

Eddie May was a person and an era

CCFC family he is - thats why i'm sad - writing this i'm smiling though, thinking about the crack we had in those days - great great times, great people -players and fans.

Eddie, it was a pleasure mate

RIP Eddie, I sat next to him whilst he gave an interview in the Grandstand the day the doors closed forever at Ninian Park, after he'd finished I just held out my hand and thanked him for the GOOD TIMES, "Weren't they just" he said with a big smile on his face, too right they were....

Eddie was and always will be cardiff through and through.
I remember the last time I saw him at Ninian Park, think it was our last game there
when he came on to the pitch at half-time and walked around the pitch to a standing ovation
from the Bob bank and the whole ground, the way he acknowledged us fans he was proud of us
and the club, reminded me of a father figure,
sad news indeed, my condolences to Eddie's family

Another sad day, had the chance to introduce my son to him last year and his first words were how good he looked in his full cardiff city kit. had to explain to arron who he was as he,s only 8 at the time, I said a legend at cardiff and after talking to us i can tell you he was a true gentleman. R.I.P MR EDDIE MAY, AND THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES.

Footnote: Dont know if anyone on here can put me straight, but I always thought that started during the reign of Eddie May at your club and was a sort of tribute too him as in 'Headie or Eadie MAY' and the slapping of the head, as although his name was Eddie he also had a hell of a bonce on him?
