tbh I think the Swansea's there to make it simpler for Royal Mail as the Gower's closest delivery office is Swansea.

get off this message board you silly little bum-worrier ...

surely now after 2 days of this shite, someone in arselona-on-sea has had time to gather the ponies to pull the caravan far enough away from the your land-fill city to steal some coal to power up your own message board.

f.uck off this board and try to find your aunty-sister for a quick molest before school tomorrow.

Blackwood_Bluebird wrote:Gower or the Gower Peninsula (Welsh: Gwyr or Penrhyn Gŵyr) is a peninsula in south Wales, jutting from the coast into the Bristol Channel, and administratively part of the City and County of Swansea. Locally it is known as "Gower" (not "the Gower"). In 1956 Gower became the first area in Britain to be designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

administratively not geographically !! ;)

So if the gower isn't geographically part of the city and county of Swansea, where is it a part of? Every square inch of land mass in the U.K falls within a city and county boundaries. So again I'll ask the question... Not only administratively, but geographically, within which city and county boundaries does the gower peninsula belong? C'mon, lads, the answer is easy.

A little clue for you, taken from wikipedia..

Swansea can be roughly divided into four physical areas. To the north are the Lliw uplands which are mainly open moorland, reaching the foothills of the Black Mountain. To the west is the Gower Peninsula with its rural landscape dotted with small villages. To the east is the coastal strip around Swansea Bay. Cutting though the middle from the south-east to the north-west is the urban and suburban zone stretching from the Swansea city centre to the towns of Gorseinon and Pontarddulais.

C'mon boys. Blackwood dropped a bollock again, and by defending him you're making yourselves look stupid. The sooner you all accept that the Gower is in Swansea, the sooner we can all move on and find something else to argue about. What do you say? :D

The Gower is as close to Swansea as physically possible without being a part of it.

Personally I don't count any wide spaces that don't have any real major population areas that are on the edge of cities as partt of that city anyways.

My personal opinion gets the final word.

You might aswell give up now.

Regardless of my opinion I'm pretty sure that it is to do with delivery offices. Addresses passed the road name are more for Royal Mail so they can get them sent to the right sorting and delivery offices than they are for administrative purposes.

For sake of argument, let's just pretend for a second that you're right (you're not), just answer me one simple question... geographically, within which city and county's boundaries does the gower peninsula fall?

It doesn't come under a city's boundaries. Not everywhere in the world is part of a city. Look at the whole of North Wales as part of that fact.

But it does come under the County of Swansea.

Thank you.

I never said that the gower was part of the centre of Swansea, but it is within the boundaries of the city and county of Swansea. How anyone could argue against this is beyond me. Some of the blinkered fools on here just couldn't accept that the beautiful Gower peninsula was a part of Swansea.

You at least have seen sense.

Stop abusing the sticky sticky tragicgreenflash. The gower is to trampsville what gibraltar is to spain. Now go back to planetswamp and discuss boring football that is always shown last on MOTD.

Gibraltar belongs to the UK. Again I'll ask you.. if not Swansea, within who's boundaries does the Gower lay? It is not an independent state, and therefore has to fall within the boundaries of a region of the UK. Provide evidence to substantiate your claim or you have clearly lost the debate. Not that there was ever a debate to be had. Gower is in Swansea. FACT! Now then... That evidence please Gareth. I'm waiting...

Well, Gareth(Wilts) for one. He, along with others have spent many an hour sat pecking away at their keyboards, trying, and failing to suggest that the Gower has no link to Swansea. Having lived in the Gower for the first 28 years of my life I think I'm qualified enough to say that it most certainly has. I've provided substantial and unequivocal evidence that it is, whilst Gareth and his pals prefer to rely on hearsay and personal opinion to back up their claims. To be fair, he has never backed down on the matter, even in the face of utter humiliation and defeat, and even though he makes himself look retarded by sticking to his unfounded beliefs, I must at least give him credit for his unwavering commitment to his lost and stupid cause.
It won't be long I suspect before he's on here again, spouting off the usual bollocks.
P.s, I'm still waiting Gareth...

How did this get from Anti-football to a row about the Gower?

I don't agree with Magicdaps on the Anti-football bit by the way, just curious how he gets you to bite almost every time?

For what its worth, I spent a couple of years living in Barry, that was a CF postcode? On the other hand, I now live in Mumbles which is a great place but you'll probably tell me that its a fishing village outside Swansea?

Swanseas style of football is a bit like going on holiday to the Gower.

Initially it seems pleasing on the eye, then you realise there no real action there, and is actually boring as f*ck!!!

You're from Porthcawl yes? Stand on Porthcawl beach and look right. That stunningly beautiful visage you see off in the distance is Swansea, and just beyond that is the Gower peninsula. Notice how close they are together? That's because they're both part of the city and county of Swansea. So in answer to your question, no we didn't invent the Gower. Only the hand of god could create such beauty. :)
