People with a history of significant allergic reactions should not have the Pfizer/BioNTech Covid jab, regulators say.
It came after two NHS workers had allergic reactions on Tuesday.
The advice applies to those who have had reactions to medicines, food or vaccines, the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency said.
The two people had a reaction shortly after having the new jab, had treatment and are both fine now.
They are understood to have had an anaphylactoid reaction, which tends to involve a skin rash, breathlessness and sometimes a drop in blood pressure. This is not the same as anaphylaxis which can be fatal.
Both NHS workers have a history of serious allergies and carry adrenaline pens around with them.
This is extremely common for most vaccines and jabs. I needed a few different jabs when I went abroad a few years back and every doctor that administered them (multiple trips so different doctors) asked a series of questions about my health with quite a lot of the focus on allergies.
I know people with severe allergies are also warned against getting the flu jab in case of a negative reaction.
Some of these people will die if they eat a peanut, so to have a little reaction to a vaccine is to be expected.
What a crass statement!! A "little" reaction you say,as a sufferer of allergies myself, and suffered anaphylactic shock,on more than one occasion,I guarantee you a "little"reaction its not!!!! How f@cking ignorant are you? Im alright jack type that you are!
You do what you want, let others at least do the same?
It's a fact, so far people have had a little reaction, people who suffer from anaphylactic shock should be careful what they take regardless, it's not Pfizers fault?
You've been making crass statements like Corona only kills a small percentage of people for months, but you're ok jack!
Do what the feck you want, I know six people who have the virus right now, and I'll take the vaccine when I get the chance as it's proven safer than catching the virus
Covid is flying in Wales, watch this space we will be locked down for all of January at least, talk of it starting on the 27th December!
So you are saying what exactly Am I wrong in saying it only kills a small percentage? And no I am not alright jack ,I have to be careful on any medication I get,due to allergies,so this is no differentso you know 6 people with it,are they hospitalised and in a bad way,or have they some mild symptoms ,to be totally honest,I know of 3 people who have had negative tests, doesn't mean they will not get it,but I know only one person to date, who has it,but they have had very mild symtoms
,remember your statement"so far".
Where did I say it was Pfizers fault by the way? Sorry but your statement is based on 2 cases to date, which luckily weren't serious.
That may not be the case for some!
You are stating nothing I haven't already read or seen regarding covid flying in Wales, same in Germany. And thanks for letting me do "what I want, regatding being vaccinated, although I didn't need permission from you thanks .![]()
Why are you stating we will be in lockdown, this was obvious, due to this "virus holiday".
We all know your preference regards taking the vaccine, and you would have no hesitation in having it tomorrow, crack on I say![]()
By the way, your having a go,but during the first lockdown I volunteered to take medications to isolated patients, mostly elderly people who were told to shield at home, and will do the same again if we are locked down once more
I've never denied it's existence (covid) but I guess you believe the figures we are fed too?
I and others don't believe them, and for various reasons, and those who wish to abstain from an untested (I don't count it as tested due to condensed period of time) should be allowed to do so,without people as yourself, trying to mock/ridicule them because you think differently to them, for some the time period to allow for vaccinated people to show adverse and possibly serious side effects.
I won't be surprised when they start new lockdown, as suggested, even though it may well start on my birthday![]()
But it's not because people haven't been vaccinated! It's because people are crowding city centres for the Christmas covid holiday!!
Of course it will spike around January, that's not the fault of people not wanted to be vaccinated is it?? That fault lies clearly at the feet of the decision makers, although most people I have discussed it with, were doing family Christmas in the normal way, regardless of rules! The goverment knew this full well,so put out a "good news" story for once, you can meet people you haven't seen for 6 months or more? It's a gift from your leaders, yeah right, course it is,cos covid will understand, and perhaps take some time off, after all, they have been busy !! So based on your solution, those who smoke, drink, take drugs, should all be refused treatment,as its their use of these things that has caused them to be in hospital?? I have paid my fare share in taxes and national insurance,so would be excluded for not taking a vaccine, thst may well cause serious side effects down the line,or in many cases(mine inc) some of us wont be able to take this vaccine safely, but hey it doesnt matter,no tratment for me!how can you say in one breath "respect their decision" and then finish with "ban them from recieving nhs treatment"???

For the sake of staff and patients just in that location let alone wider community I would have thought safety protocols and PPE would make that environment safer than nine staff becoming positive in next to no time.

No, I'm not panicking, I don't work at a covid centre why would I panic?
It's quite a surprise that nine people wearing PPE and taking measures at a covid vaccination centre got it though!!!
I don't think any were hospitalised, all felt fairly rough and passed it on to family members, I guess they were lucky but time will tell if it's damaged their major organs and lungs and whether they have long covid?
!!! is just to emphasize the point !!!
