As for the fanbase under 20...your numbers have dropped two seasons in a row, one thing about todays youth in South Wales they are fickle and happily switch allegiances.

They "picked" Swansea because of the success, without success they'll turn away not necessarily Cardiff but to a Premier league team.

I also believe had Cardiff fans started this thread saying it made sense to sell the training ground you'd have cone on saying it was madness.

We had success with the likes of Gylfi, Ben Davies, Bony and Michu too - doesn't mean we should continue that kind of spending in the Championship. I'm not sure what people are expecting. You can't continue Premier League luxuries in the Championship, it just isn't sustainable.

Our attendance this season is solid, it is not supported by ticket sales that happened when we were still a PL club. Yours will also fall 2 years in a row, guaranteed - for the same reasons. That won't change the fact that those young men of today only know Swansea being above Cardiff, so I don't understand how that puts you ahead. That's not a dig, its just how it is. Even those in their mid twenties will be used to that and will have seen far more seasons of us being above you than the opposite should they have started at 10 years old for example.

You believe wrong regarding my opinion on the training ground. Why is it madness? We continue to get to use it and get the cash injection needed to continue to soften the blow of relegation. What is the benefit of keeping it? Surely the benefit of keeping it is so you can sell it.... in times like these?

Wow missed the content of my post?

I didn’t miss it at all. You entered a debate where my points were against a poster saying it was madness, I explained why it wasn’t.

1. I said the longer without promotion the more important your academy may become. I didnt suggest spending like a premier league club.

So would multi million pound players. That’s life. We are a Championship club and must live within our means. Pipe dreams of how good PL luxuries would be are irrelevant.

2. Your attendance has dropped, its a discussion amongst swans fans on your own forum, to call it solid is merely dismissing it.

Of course it has dropped. This is the first season we have had for almost a decade where ST’s were bought whilst outside of the Premier League. This season is a solid attendance because it represents the true fanbase at this level. Yours has dropped from last season and will certainly drop again as you face season ticket sales whilst still a Championship club. Next season will then represent what your solid Championship fanbase is currently.

3. You mention cardiffs attendances dropping..... Did i say they didn't? Its a given.

Exactly, that’s my point. It’s normal. That doesn’t take away that a whole generation of football fans only know Swansea being above Cardiff.

4. Never said Cardiff were ahead of swansea although if your asking me I'd say its a pretty level playing field between both clubs right now.

I did t say you did. You replied to my point in which I was replying to another poster who made that comment, hence why I reiterated it when explaining the point further after you responded to it. As I said, we have finished above you 9 of the last 10 seasons and you haven’t scored against us in years. I wouldn’t say we are currently level (currently being the operative word) but you are entitled to your opinion.

5. I never said it was madness i said the opposite.

i didn’t say you said it was madness. You entered a debate replying to points I made against another poster who said it was madness.

You in your rush to prove everyone wrong totally messed up.

Messed up? Where? You were making the point we should be keeping it as it’s important. I told you it’s more important to be solvent.

That’s recent history, we have players and fans still at the club that are and were very much part of that journey.

When year 2110 comes around and people are still referring to this time then something has gone very wrong indeed.

Of course it is. But recent and relevant past that still has an affect on the current and the future.

Don’t be so silly. This is where threads degenerate into rubbish, you are now deviating from reality and basing your posts on fantasy.

We are downgrading academy status as I predicted in October last year and also many weeks ago on here. Absolutely normal and expected situation. We are not losing the academy and you can look as hard as you like for category 1 status... unless you get promoted, like us, you won’t get it.

Of course, it’s called a conversation. That’s why people post on football forums, to talk about football.

You don’t seem to understand them.

It isn’t to make rubbish up about your rivals and dance around reciting fairy tales all day, abusing anyone who adds a dose of reality.

It probably takes as much, if not more effort to keep banning me and deleting my posts ironically enough. Not to mention the continuing bleating that I am allowed to have a view. :laughing6:

Roathi/Roathy, or however your're known these days, just one request....please stick to your own site. 8-)

Historically, Cardiff have been the most successful of the two clubs. Highest top flight finish for Cardiff is 2nd while the highest for Swansea is 6th. Cardiff have been in three FA cup finals winning once. They also have one FA Charity Shield win. Swansea have one League Cup win, as well as winning an Autoglass Trophy and an LD Vans trophy. Cardiff have qualified for Europe fourteen times, Swansea have qualified eight times. Cardiff have won the Welsh Cup 22 times, Swansea have 10 wins to their name as well as two FAW Premier Cup wins. Cardiff's highest home attendance is 58k while the highest for Swansea is 33k, although obviously attendances cannot be linked to the number of trophies a club may have won.
Swansea have experienced the most success during recent times, although there is little to choose between them at this time. Who knows which of the two teams will have the most success this century. Swansea are certainly ahead at the moment, and if either team were to get back to the top flight this season, you would have to put your money on that being Swansea. If I were a betting man, I would say both teams will be spending the next few years in the Championship at best, and I can't see either team adding to their silverware any time soon.

That's the main point, they won't be getting good young players anymore, they are preparing for the 1st division, there is a massive list of players either on loan or out of contract or who will be sold next season, they are in the shit financially, and don't have owners who will help, it's just selling and cut their cloth accordingly, which will eventually lead to their natural sustainable level, the 2nd division.

Ok but their manager is able to pick up the phone to Klopp and Lampard and get decent kids to come to west wales to play and whilst it may plug a gap it certainly is better than the journeymen City picks up on loan.

You said it (academy) would be more useful the longer we stayed at this level. Yes, as would all the Premier League luxuries. However the point is we can’t afford them, hence the thread.

Re: Updated: ‘ Jacks quite a shock ‘

A whole generation of Swansea being above Cardiff is not just 10 years.

Only last season we were above you, and we'll have to wait and see what happens this season.

Prior to Swans going up, I think City were above Swansea for about 10 years running so it's swings and roundabouts on that one.

Over the course of our League history Cardiff have been above Swansea for two thirds of the time, sometimes a division or two higher, sometimes in the same division.

Attendances, we have been constantly above Swansea for 10 years, and likely to continue so. And pretty much for all our history except for the 90s and 2000s when it was 50/50. Yes our will fall dramatically next season unless we show some sort of promise, but Swansea will fall again, maybe down to 12000 or so except for the bigger games. I reckon ours will drop to pre Warnock figures of about 16/17000.

And we've got a better ground, and even with Harris a better manager.

The only thing we have the same is that neither of us will spend money this month, and things are getting worse for both of us.

A Cat 1 academy isnt a premier league luxury. As shown by Boro, Derby, Stoke, Reading and West Brom.
I also didnt state a Cat 1 academy i just said your club will cone to rely more on the academy.

I'm struggling how you think my saying you'll become more reliant on your academy the longer you miss out on promotion is irrelevant during a debate about the academy :)

You said it (academy) would be more useful the longer we stayed at this level. Yes, as would all the Premier League luxuries. However the point is we can’t afford them, hence the thread.

Wrong again Roathie.

Of course it’s a Premier League luxury. It’s a Premier League luxury that a tiny fraction of the league decides to partake in.

As for your comment, the thread is about the status of the academy - not the academy. Academies are always important - hence why it’s an irrelevant comment.

So earlier in this thread you said an academy is important, in fact you said it was far more important than buying the stadium.

You say it and thats ok, i say an academy is important and you decide its irrelevant..... Give your head a shake.

Ive just listed clubs outside of the Premier league with Cat 1 acadamies and you chose to ignore it because it doesn't line up with your premier league luxury line.

Your just an argumentative weirdo.

No I didn't. You are having trouble with context again.

I was asked what I said on another thread regarding the academy - I clarified.

I can name X5 20m players in the Championship too... however it is still a Premier League luxury to be able to sign players like that, hence why not many outside it do it. Same goes for Cat 1. It's not a difficult concept.

Stop being so silly.

Would you like to show me and everyone else where I am wrong then?

As I thought.

Every thread you infest, it’s just you that can’t see it due to your illness.
