I’ve been listening on the and although we are 4-3 up, it sounds like Carlisle have been much the better the team. I know it’s local commentators but they seem to be saying they are better. Quite embarrassing considering the leads we have had.

Coxe has been hooked, so hopefully that will shore up the defence as that McKirdie has had a great game.

Looking at bbc sport we have had 60% possession, 15 shots to their 10 with 7 on target to 6 for them and corners 8-7 to them a little bit biased from home radio is to be expected.but to concede 3 goals (so far!) To a team that lost 3-0 last game at home to Plymouth! !!! Piss poor defending,even allowing for a cracking strike for the 3rd.flints 2 goals have sort of made up for his defensive inadequacy

I’d probably say not one of the players who started today should be in our starting 11. Probably only Richards but at RB and not LB. and obviously Murphy or Whyte have to be as NML is out.
But with that said we should still be winning the game comfortably.

No just pointing out a fact that if you pick players who dont regularly play together you get poor performances just like in original games where higher teams lost to lower teams? Carlisle didn't pick reserve side and it showed they played above themselves like most lower league teams fo against higher teams why did you think Bristol lost to Shrewsbury? according to sky 9 changes from Sunday

Agree it's a result a win but done the hard way over two legs against a poor team really .
Got to give harris time but its nail biting at times .
Score 4 away it should be comfortable but was ends of seats even though we scored 4 goals.
Defended all over the park needs addressing.

Smithies - nowhere near Etheridge standard, especially after seeing his distribution on Sunday which was supposedly the main reason people wanted him to play
Richards - Yes best RB at the club
Flint - Decent back up
Ralls - yes best player at the club
Murphy - Doesn’t start if NML is fit, although I still think there’s a great player in there somewhere.
Whyte - same as above
Patterson - Not better than Tomlin.

So as I said apart from Ralls and Richards none of the players who started tonight would be in my first 11. And we should still have been able to control the game better than we did and definitely make it more comfortable. But as I always say a win is a win.

Flint plays nearly every week and cost us £6mill hardly a back up

Murphy is a left winger whilst Mendez is right

Whyte is our only current fit right wing option

Patterson is not a playmaker and plays a totally different role to Tomlin.

It is Harris unfortunately who picks the team and in would expect at least 7 of that 11 tonight will play next weekend

I am fully aware that Paterson isn’t the same style player as Tomlin and that Murphy predominantly plays on the left, yet can on the right in the current situation. But my point is that neither would play in our strongest 11.
And it’s your opinion that Etheridge is massively overrated, which I strongly disagree with. But that argument has already been done. With regards to Flint he’s been our worst defender this season, regardless of price. Morrison and Nelson were solid this weekend, so that’s the players to start with this weekend.
If there is 7 of tonight’s starting line up starting in the next game I’m already worried!
