Being up to the player is a given, i didnt feel the need to mention it as it is so obvious. You can not force a player to sign for someone against their will, otherwise we would have Messi and Bale on our books. Lets not get bogged down in pedantry because of your vendetta

The point i was responding to was "ole decides", which of course he doesn't. A bid comes in and it is accepted or declined by Tan - it is then up to the player.

The argument seems to be that he really wants to work with OGS.The bottom line is that OGS is in a pretty vulnerable position, he might survive the season but then he has to hit the ground running if he doesn't he will most likely be sacked in the first part of the season. He will be under immense pressure to get it right straight away- Worst case scenario for Daehli is, he gets stuck in the championship with a new manager that doesn't have the same ideas for him that OGS has.

Tan also plays a part in this, the club needs Tan to pour more of his own money into the club to retain players. If not, some players will become available, because the club needs the money.

But, if the opposite is the case , as I believe it to be with us, then my opinion is that the chairman would discuss the potential deal with the incumbent manager. e.g. £10 mill and daehli is gone, £4-5 mill and Tan has a chat with Ole, £1-3 mill and Tan puts the phone down.
