How any fan would like to watch players of the ability of Cameron Toshack, Jeff Chandler and Jimmy Rollo in front of measly gates of 3k,instead of the great players we have now in front of 27k +mystifies me. Those days were shite, getting beat 7-2 at home to Cambridge and 5-0 to Maidstone still give me nightmares. These are great days on the pitch, Pompey fans would love to swap with us, whatever they might say otherwise.

I couldn't give a rats arse about the players, I wanna see us in blue!

You obviously never saw those players play, you're maybe too young or have jumped on the bandwagon in recent years, you're clearly clueless as to what it was like in those days. We would all like a return to blue, but we currently play in red, so fecking deal with it! Bet we wouldn't see you supporting us if we were in the lower leagues, that's what makes me laugh about fans like you.

First city game was against Plymouth in 1994 so stick that in your pipe and smoke it.

Woopy friggin do, go give yourself a medal.

Howeve I also remember 95-98 was the absolute worst time to watch City.

I'm not disputing there were some shit days. The Clemo, Kumar, Osman etc periods were woeful but the worst for me was Kenny Hibbett! Remember him blaming his lack of signings on the fact that geographically, we were in a poor location so nobody wanted to sign for us? Then we had him narrowing the pitch to stop the opposition hitting us on the break, so you know what happened on the narrow pitch? They just hit us on the break through the middle instead!
But honestly, I did enjoy those days just as much as what we have now. You might think I'm strange and bonkers, but I have always preferred playing the lesser teams in lesser stadiums, simply because I got to interact with proper, decent football fans and visit different grounds with character. Those at Accrington this season will tell you about being able to watch a parks game going on behind us and the banter when there was a penalty in this parks game. I tend to find with the smaller grounds, there are little things that you remember and look back on with the smile more, but maybe that's just me!

Football has changed so much since we were last there it just wouldnt be the same.
I am a football romantic and love the nostalgia but would rather keep the memories as I think the reality would be one huge dissapointment.

I respect your opinion. My one regret was not going to Chasetown as it was on a Saturday and I was playing Welsh League football back then, so I couldn't go. So I guess I had a good 6-7 seasons not attending games regularly myself, although I still always went to every game that wasn't on a Saturday.

But I think I will always love visiting the smaller grounds, I had to do Accrington and I had to do Macclesfield last season as I had never done them before. Some fans must think I'm bonkers driving to Accrington and back with work at 8am the following day, but then not bothering with West Ham away in the following round!

But that's just me, it's not about success or watching top quality football for me. I chose to watch the Development squad at Hereford instead of seeing City's firsts at home to Chievo. I hope we have an away draw to some lower league minnows in the FA Cup this season to give me another new ground to visit. I was too young to go to many away games when we were dire so I didn't regularly do away games until we got to the Championship really, so I guess there's still quite a few lower league grounds I would like to visit just to see what they're like.

Don't get me wrong, when the cup draws come around I'm not hoping to draw man utd out of the bag, my dream is to go back to Torquay! It was my first away trip and always one of my favourites. However when we were playing Torquay etc year in year out it was my dream to draw man utd or liverpool etc.

Coincidentally I have chosen to go Torquay on my Fifa Be A Pro save. I had some good days out in Torquay down the Riviera, sitting on the Pavilion etc when my family took me for weekends away down there. It's a lovely place and I've always had a soft spot for them so I would love to go back there myself. I think for any football fan, the last sort of cup draw you want is a team in your league or a team you've played recently. I think we would all like to be drawn against someone we haven't played for a while to give us a new, different, exciting adventure.
