Now that is done I will say that I will be gutted if tan changes the name. Do I see it happening? I think it probably will to be honest. I think the Hull name will open the floodgates to be honest.

I wish people would realise that this is not just a vincent tan problem though but indicative of where football in Britain is headed.

I've said before and I'll say again, the horse has already bolted. Teams in the lower divisions cant afford to pay their players £300 a week while the top teams in the league pay one player £200k plus!

Its not the fans who wear red who have sold their souls but rather scudamore et al who will allow anything to go on to enhance their brand!

I congratulate swansea (through gritted teeth) for what they have done and how they have done it, but does anyone here really believe they can continue to succeed the way they have for the foreseeable future?

More and more clubs are receiving huge backing and it's a matter of time before they get engulfed. If Swansea do get relegated and start to slide down the leagues do you honestly think their fans would resist a big money foreign takover??!

I can guarantee you they wouldn't.
(apart from a small minority)

I'm scared how far it could all go but I honestly think we are powerless to do anything.
If you stop going, you will be replaced by someone else. The fact is, we are no longer a 3k hardcore group of fans but we are now able to fill the ground and could probably fill it over again if needed.

We are consumers now. But make no mistake, so are every other group of fans in the premier league

Great post.

It's this simple !
Either you give a Toss about supporting a football team because of allegiance to support your local club that you feel an affiliation with or you don't care who you watch or support as long as their in the Premiership !

I think the argument of keeping quiet so Tan doesn't get scared off is starting to become a bit tired & weak.....

That said guys we still don't want to use this group as a ground to issue threats or slag off individuals please keep that in mind when you are wording your posts.

Thanks a lot
Sian Branson

What if I haven't got time for all the drama and just want to watch football.

Humblegringo makes some good points about scudamoore selling the game, But I think the humblegringo's post seeks to absolve the individual of making an ethical stance. We can all make an ethical stance irrespective of scudamore. We are only powerless if we keep repeating that illusion, infact Tan owns an empty stadium.

On match day it's full and that's what matters to vt.

At the end of the day mate it's not really about ethics though is it. It's a game of football and as much as we all get attached to our team, when you strip it down that's all it is.

Having said that a life without cardiff city would leave a big hole in my current life cos as my missus says, it is my "obsession"!

As far as I'm concerned we either adapt or find a new hobby/way of life.

As for BU I do have sympathy with some of it's members and feel genuinely gutted for who love city but feel they can no longer stomach it. Others like bluebird 37 and those who keep looking down on those who choose to keep going and supporting the club I have no time for.
I see bluebirds unite as the equivalent of my old man, who was an ex miner gathering a group of his mates today and going out on the street protesting to keep the mines open!

That is honestly not a dig but thats how pointless I see it. You can only change something when you have a bit of power to do so.
Like I said in the previous post, if everyone on this message board stopped going to games they will easily be replaced cos of our success and tan wouldnt even know the difference!

I have no solution as to what to do to prevent further changes (IF THEY ARE GOING TO HAPPEN) but I know bluebirds unite with the statements being released are not going to help anything

I'm genuinely not so sure. Crowds were lower last year than in 2010/11. The ground would be bursting at the seams now if we were in blue.

It's a power thing for Tan. A weird, obsessive, unfair power thing.

You could use the coal miner anallergy ( respect to the miners) as an example.

Or you could use the analagy about the poll tax riotors who reversed the tax and drove out thatcher.

This season after the rebrand the crowd's are the best they've been with more seats being added as we speak and stadium expansion happening soon.
Who knows what goes through vt's mind ,i don't and neither do you.

The difference between the coal miners strike and the poll tax riots was the weight of public opinion. Definitely not going to stir up a honets nest on the pro and cons on that one.

BU's major problem is 90% of the fans don't see it their way, or not enough to join the protests.

If there was a 1000 at the last march, a good number, it only represents 4% !!!! There were no subs to pay, it wasn't raining, just a simple march, but 96% of our match day fan base failed to turn up and support.

BU's response hasn't been to see where the gap lie, perhaps they are too extreme or the message is cloudy, no, just belittle the 96% as Tan apologists and "new reds".
We had 17K season ticket holders before the red shirts, this season we have 22K. Lets say they are all there just for the premier league and nothing else, they represent 20% of our match day crowd. Why have BU failed to convince the remaining 73% of "old blue" fans that they should protest.

I suppose we are all just there for the premier league.......

Sorry lad, I'm not gonna get into a 40 post debate about the definition of ethics and thatcher analogies!

I'm not the type of guy to go on til I get the last post. I will just say that every game we have played so far this season I have had a lot of people who have never even given cardiff city even a passing nod in previous years asking and begging me to get them tickets. Now anyone who believes there isnt much demand for tickets this season is seriously deluded and whilst this is the case it is IMPOSSIBLE for BU to have a credible voice that will make tan listen.

Only a tiny minority rioted against the poll tax yet it reflected a general mood of the majority. I think the majority would prefer the culture of our club restored. I think thehumblegringo is being disengenuous comparing BUs plight to the miners fighting a losing cause. You can take countless examples where 'direct action' or 'people power' has changed the direction of society.

I thought about joining their march but decided that too may faux pas made it not right for me.

I have a lot of time for the principled , like TLG.

I am not that way inclined , I like my beer and chats on a saturday , so I guess that is why I think let's hope Cardiff City prosper.

The people who didn't renew are the ones I feel have made a stand. The rest of us have gone with it.We can all say "Johnny newcomer" will have had my ticket antway BUT that's not what it's about , DID TLG care that "Johnny newcomer" was having his ticket - NO! He believed in his principles!

As I've said , I'm not that way inclined which I think shows the club maybe meant more to TLG than it does to me ?

The problem I have with this analogy is, if your son/daughter decided to change their sexual identity, it's likely to be after some major consideration and heart searching. therefore, you would have to respect such a personal decision as it would not have been done on a whim. Which is exactly what tan has acted upon. He changed us because he could and he knew there would be enough fans willing to exchange our heritage for the premiership. I despair over some City fans. we're becoming a laughing stock
