In response to comments made following a recent interview, the Club would like to clarify its formal identity.

The business name at Companies House had its ‘Association Football Club’ suffix removed in the spring of this year, leaving the club to be named ‘Hull City Tigers Ltd’. This will now be used in official club statements, regarding any of our commercial operations.

The Tigers brand, with its powerful imagery, will be used in international markets to attract new interest and attention in both Hull and the East Riding from a worldwide audience.

As has always been the case, supporters remain free to refer to the club as they wish, whether that be Hull City, City, Tigers, Black and Amber, or indeed any other variant of the Club’s name. For many, the Club will continue to be known as Hull City, as it has been from its inception.

A new badge, to be used from the 2014/15 season, will be designed and created in consultation with fans over the coming months.

This is bad news indeed. Will just pave the way for other owners to do the same. (especially overseas owners with no long term affinity for the club!)

I bet you we'll be "Cardiff Dragons" by 2018.... :(

On the inside page of their programme last season, it said 'Hull City Tigers'. Quite noticeable!

Silly question, would you rather us be back in blue and re-named? or Cardiff City FC in red?

Scott,
I would rather us be Blue, keep our right name and badge.
I would not be happy unless we kept it all, I know badges get altered but there is altering and stripping it, totally different.

Once they start, there seems no stopping them, would I Swop lower league football for our identity back, YES but that's just me and that's how I feel

I love my club and its hurting still, not getting better, It does not feel the same.

My worry now is that Tan will see this and rename us Cardiff City Dragons

Their forum is all kicking off with their Re brand! It's similar to ours... refund of season tickets, Boycotts, emails to complain and etc!

They just need a Barry Chuckle to fend off anyone who agrees with the re brand

Annis I think you're being unfair and controversial for the sake of it.

Unless you can tell me different the last statement by Tan on a name change was that it will not happen

As Tan has delivered all he has promissed since the rebrand (assuming he weighs up Sam and turns the debt to equity) I think this is just scaremongering.

Re: " Hull City change club name "

Hull's owners lied to them and I wouldn't be surprised if Tan goes back on his word to further rebrand us. Its just a sign of the times and another reason will pop up for Tan to try and justify it. Look at a lot of the top clubs and you'll see either unique names or one word names with no generic ending like United, City, Town.

Arsenal
Liverpool
Tottenham Hotspurs (Hotspurs is unique)
Chelsea
Everton
Aston Villa
Fulham
Sunderland
Southampton

Thats loads of teams with either no extra City, United or so forth. You could argue and rightfully so that you have Manchester United and Manchester City.

How would you feel about us becoming any of the following?

Cardiff FC
Cardiff Bluebirds FC
Cardiff Dragons FC
Cardiff City Dragons FC

Me personally, I would only accept Cardiff FC as i believe a nickname should stay separate to the actual name of a club. A nickname for me can change and is sort of like a slogan for a company 'Just Do It' with Nike for example which can change when the brand image is updated - A name shouldn't really change but 'Cardiff FC' would not bother me as its still just Cardiff and thats fine.

I wouldn't mind our nickname being changed either and 'Cardiff FC' and the nickname 'The Dragons' would not bother me in the slightest and I would come to terms with the change and thats a sign of the times and the way its going as it has done in America and it will eventually follow suit because of how money runs the game.

As long as the club is called 'Cardiff City FC' or 'Cardiff FC' and plays in Cardiff I will support it - colours, nicknames, mottos, slogans and so on can change and be updated but those should be the consistent features to me.

Each to their own I guess but I can see us becoming Cardiff FC in the future and Tan prefixing The Dragons nickname.

Don't lose any sleep over the colour change, think the next owner will change it back to blue and it will just be a bad memory but change the name, like that tosser Hamman wanted to do is something else.

We put up one hell of a fight to dissuade him from changing our name.

Spurs were actually formed as Hotspurs FC.

Aston Villa takes its name from the Aston district of Birmingham and from Villa Cross Wesleyan Chapel.
