" Just back from the game, BUT "

Sat Dec 22, 2012 8:38 pm

After having a drink with my Leicester mates around the corner from the game.

Their comments were "How the f**k are we top of the league"

A bit harsh probable BUT something we have to take on board.

I felt after listening to my mate the Leicester fans before the game that if they failed to score after 15 minutes we would win the game. Well that happened and they never looks like scoring once we look the lead.

3 points it was against one of our main challengers......but it is nothing to get carried away with.

Re: Just back from the game

Back in the days of Eddie May which everyone goes on about as their favourite time as a city fan people would have been absolutely buzzing if we came away from one of, if not THE main rival with a hard fought 1-0 win away win, these days all people want to do is fecking moan!
I honestly cannot identify one jot with a lot of posters on this board! I'm so happy tonight i could wank myself into oblivion!

Like it or not it is being realistic.

I was there today standing next to Carl. I nearly threw him over the balcony when we scored. After that I kept saying to him lets play in their half and we will be fine. Well we looked safe when the ball was in the Leicester half. When it was in our half it was not bad tbh. We should have sealed it well before the end but we did not.

Great 3 points but lets not get carried away.

Re: Just back from the game

We are top of the league because when we play well we win.

We are top of the league because when we play crap 9/10 we also win.

That is the hard truth.

Leicester played well today and lost.

Loads of fans ask how we are top and that is the answer for them to take in. I expect Palace to be at us big time down the wings on Boxing Day but if we come out of that with a 1-0 win that is all that matters. Possession only matters if you use it.

I have heard plaudits on GoS say Liverpool have played well all season but do not take their chances. That was like Leicester today plus some superb defending from our lot. We get a chances and we do often take them.

Ian I totally disagree with your Leicester mates, we are top of the league because we deserve to be there.

I have always said this and maintain it, THE LEAGUE TABLE DOES NOT LIE, NO LUCK YOUR THERE BECAUSE YOUVE EARNED THE RIGHT TO BE THERE. :ayatollah:

Definetly. To be honest I wasnt that impressed by them. We got lucky to be fair but I think on our day we are the better team.

I was there today and despite a tough first half i thought we looked fairly comfortable after the break. Leicester are a very good team and wont be far away, lets not forget this was only their 2nd home defeat so they are almost as good at home as we are. Our away form has improved significantly and this was out best 3 points away from home in my opinion. Were top of the league at Christmas and i cant wait for Boxing day where hopefully we can beat one of our nearest rivals and extend our advantage at the top of the table. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Leicester created nothing in the second half. We came close to scoring than them in a competitive second 45. Going to have to say but considering what they have they were disappointing. Perhaps we played them at the right time.

Leicester have always had the midfielders for long shots but they put in poor balls in the box and never created a proper clear cut chance.

me just back aswell 540mile round trip via stoke! heared the same on way back to car , but its same with every team we beat! fans dont seem able to realise we are a hard team to beat, and we have class when its required, otherwise it means this league is crap as we beat all kinds teams and if we are not good what does it make them?? :D

In the second half, they hit the bar with Marshall miles away, and Craig Conway (I believe) headed a goal bound effort off the line. But apart from that . . . . .

Correct. I was also there! 2nd half they were literally all over us and as above stated they had their chances but our defence and Marshall were very solid! Bakedalaska, are u sure u was there for 2nd half!?

Who cares?

Hull prob saying we deserve it because we demolished them.

Don't care what other fans think, we are half way through the season and the league table says it all.

So for you Ian I guess we are almost safe from relegation :ayatollah:

Vardy hit the cross bar and had Marshall beaten. As for possession, they had 65% and 18 shots, 13 on target. They were all over us and we simply did a snatch and grab on them. Thats the mark of Champions when you are outplayed yet still steal the spoils. Leicester did not take their chances and even the presenters on the FLS said the same. We had 4 chances and 1 ended up in the net.

Andy King also had a shot or two on goal after our goal. Hudson had to make a brilliant block for one long rage effort. Marshall saved a shot by Waghorn in the second half and he also missed another shot. Also one other incident I remember is Nugent shooting and Marshall saving it as well in the second half.

To say they created nothing is ridiculous. Were they as good as the first 25 minutes? No. Thats because after the goal we sat in deep but they still kept knocking to be fair to them and our players deserve enormous credit for that.

Re: " Just back from the game, BUT "

They will be our main rivals come Easter, Im sure of that.

We went there a rode our luck for the first fifteen minutes, after half time we dug in and worked unbelivably hard.
If we keep playing like that we will go up. They could of got a few but we missed some sitters in the end.
Great game.
Oh and their crowd is shit and the fat drummer was crap :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Re: " Just back from the game, BUT "

As someone said, we are top because we still win when we don't play well. How often have the likes of Man Utd, Man City and other top European teams grabbed a cheeky 1-0 win when they've not been playing great? It happens all the time. We have discovered this knack of taking our chances and that's the bottom line. Leicester didn't win yesterday because they couldn't take their chances and we took our one. That is often the difference between promotion and missing out on promotion.

It's not being realistic though is it? The reality is that we have the best home record in the league and are now picking up a lot of points away from home, you cant do that by just being "lucky" we deserve to be where we are. Every year whoevers top gets shot down,I remember when QPR where top and people were unimpressed by some of their performaces but in reality they deserved to top because they're winning the most points its as simple as that! Don't think anyones getting carried away but being 10 points clear of one of our main rivals at the half way stage is something to celebrate not question

Yes it is being realistic.

I'll tell you what, if the roles were reversed yesterday and Leicester were top the likes of you would be saying in the pub after the game "How the hell are they top".

Re: " Just back from the game, BUT "

Sun Dec 23, 2012 10:33 am

Its all well good saying we were good in the 2nd half etc and we should have finished it off Truthfully if Leicester had the luck that we had in the first half then we WOULD NOT have been in the game I know we must not say anytyhing about our manager Malky BUT did he have the right players out on the field to combat the Leicester threat To me really it is because he did not OR we are not as good as we thought and REALLY need some different players if we are to gain promotion We even had the luck of sides below us dropping points .IS that because we are better than them so are above them or because we are having the rub of the green and they have not They do say that things even out over a season which in some ways would worry me
