WHITTINGHAM.........WATCH LEON BRITTON !

Sun Dec 16, 2012 1:45 pm

Fabulous little player, Britton.

Whittingham, who walked through the game yesterday, spent most of the day moving into places behind a posh player so as not to be able to take a pass. And played the game a safe 30 yards from where he would make any difference going forward.

So,Peter...........watch Britton and note how hard he runs to get into space to receive the ball. And note what he does once he has given a pass......he runs into space to try and be available to get the ball back.

Not fecking rocket science!!

I'm sure Peter Whittingham, one of our most influential players will take an amateur like yourself's advice, Not like Britton has speed/pace on his side though is it?

Leon Britton is hugely overrated.

Maybe the most overrated player ever, it amazes me he gets in the Swansea side.
I certainly wouldn't want him here.

Works well in a system that the jacks play take him out of that system and he struggles eg his move to sheff utd.

WTF... Of all the players on the planet you want Witts to watch, and you pick Leon (not good Enough for the hammers or blades) Britton..

I am grateful for many things, one being your not on our coaching staff. :ayatollah:

Such a clown, whit is the best player outside the champ, scored 15+goals for the last three years, plays unbelievable passes. Britton plays it said wards and five yards.

Britton is a neat player, but Pete bas gone from a wider to a holding midfielder who still scores.

Re: WHITTINGHAM.........WATCH LEON BRITTON !

Mon Dec 17, 2012 1:26 pm

Blimey......seems my opinion of Whitts does not hold up.

I must have missed the last 'split the defence' ball he played. And the last time he played a 'give and go'.....he only does the give and that is often to Hudson!). And the last time he bust a gut chasing an opponent down and the following sliding tackle. And the last time he won a midfield header. And the last time he crossed the halfway line.

Great left foot on a dead ball, granted. And he is clearly talented.

But how much better wouldhe be if he put some REAL effort in.

You lot are in danger of believing what you read and not what you see. He is one of those players who always seem to be hidden behind an opponent when a team mate is looking for an out ball............unless he is stood next to centre halfs.

Whatever Britton is, watching him yesterday he was always running into space, available. RUNNING! Same as Gary O'Neill and Nolan yesterday. I just wish our messiah would look fecking interested!!

Excuse me. Over 40 years watching City home and away. Ex Welsh League.

What I have said wrong about Whitts. He walked. Hid. And was 30 yards too deep.

Funny how Whitts stats always seem to prove he does more running than anyone else in the
side. But hey... you know best

Just about as spot on an answer as you can find. Vital to the way we play, and we do struggle when he isn't 100%, but put him in a different system and he doesn't seem to fit.

It's not Britton in particular. It would my recommendation for Peter to watch ANYONE who runs in midfield and makes themselves available. Should need to coach that......plenty do it in Sunday Leagues!

Seeing as Leon is by far and away our most important player, overrated is the polar opposite of the reality.

Where are these stats, TA? Genuinely would be interested if available. I would be certain his figures are nowhere near the top of league stats, never mind Premier League usuals, but would be interested to learn how to compare.

Bit harsh :D :D

Take away penalties and free kicks....!

Not many taken in his stride and 'whack'! Not disputing his ability to kick a ball............just his willingness to run into space and demand the ball.

I have never heard such twaddle, never seen Whitts play but to crisise Leon is beyond the pale, if England want to push on they need to pick Leon now (not that I give a **** about England)

Well I'll agree, he is vital to us. If Britton is missing, as a general rule, we struggle.

Why would I ever want to go on a Swansea site? My opinion is just that. Where better to express it than on a City forum?

If you lot believe Whitts gives his all, then I beg to differ. Not even knocking him or dissing him. Just suggesting he runs into space to receive a pass.

Not much to ask, surely...............??

Chuckle, you obviously now **** all about football, Spain have won the last three tournaments by playing the small man who can pass the ball in midfield, gone are the days where people like Glenn Hoddle lumps it 60 years, hollywood ball's are so out of date.... one day, you'll get it, one day, Cardiff will get promoted

Alan....not a Swan, my friend. 1st City game was 1967 actually v Newport County, Welsh Cup.

And i am not "basically saying britton is far superior to whitts!"

I am suggesting Whitts takes a leaf out the likes of Britton who at least makes himself available. And runs.

As for "best player outside prem"................he is believing that, too.
