Michu call up to Spain squad (ignore if not interested)

Sun Dec 16, 2012 12:45 pm

Lots of sources saying Michu is set to be called up for Spain's match against Uruguay. Do you think he deserves it?

If you want to discuss it, go to Planet Swans.
Pushy would you want to discuss a Swansea City player? :?

No one cares. You're on the wrong messageboard.

Same goes for all the swans threads on here that get discussed daily then surely? The creator of this site even creates threads about them. They are our biggest rivals and their big news always gets discussed here. I did say ignore if not interested and the title was pretty self explanatory.

A player in the squad of the world and European champions is a big thing to happen to one of the South Wales clubs. Worthy talking point IMO.

Not on this MB it's not. It's just designed to run people up the wrong way IMO.

I'm sure Uruguay are shitting themselves. Has he done enoughto merit a call up? Maybe ahead of Torres,......and that's about it.

Well then simply don't reply. The post wasn't for you, it was for people interested which I, sure there are many more than you'd care to admit. We have swans fans in here too, I'm sure they would be interested. Annis has created swans threads, no difference IMO. They are self explanatory titles so read if interested ignore of not..

Top Spanish goalscorer in the whole of Europe I think.

Maybe - doesn't make him International class though? If he was banging them in for Rochdale in League 2 would he be touted? 5 headed goals in PL, the most this season apparently. I'll be honest, I've not seen enough of him to judge but he obviously has an eye for goal - would he do it at a bigger club though or is he maybe just too good for Swansea but not good enough for Spurs, Man City etc? Seen that many times before.

You're misunderstood. Threads about Swansea on this board are to abuse them.

No, but he's doing it in the prem not in league 2.

I'm not sure who he plays for is relevant. As a goalscorer it's surely easier to play in a top side rather than a mid table one due to the amount of chances created. They all play the same teams whether he plays for united or Swansea. Last season he was top goal scoring midfielder in la liga also.

I like the way Spain do things with regards to picking who deserves a call up rather than who is more famous.

It's all if's but's and maybe's. Players who have done it for mid table sides have often got the big move then failed to do it at the bigger club because they aren't really good enough but people buy into the hype.

Steve Sidwell was a classic example, stuck out for Reading, looked out of place at Chelsea.
Fernando Torres at Liverpool, often looks out of place at Chelsea.

If he keeps banging them in then he'll obviosuly attract attention but was Jay Bothroyd really International class?

Jay bothroyd was never top goalscorer in the prem, he just scored a few in the championship.

Sidwell was decent but didnt get games, it's not easy to play well when you don't play. As for Torres, he's class. In fact he's one of the worlds best strikers, he just doesn't suit Chelsea.

I think he deserves a call up, quality striker Michu.

Maybe you can learn from our mistakes with bothroyd and others and get rid of him for a healthy profit in January while he is still in form.

The only reason he has been called up is because of Villa's issues, Llorente refusing to sign a new contract and thus being shunned and Torres only just getting his scoring boots on. He is basically being used.

Big fish in a very small pond.... doubt he can make the step up and mix it with the class players.

I see another "superstar" who played for the jacks last season can not get a start with the spuds.

Different being loved, adored and cherished at a minor club than having to establish yourself at a genuine top tier one.

So the fact he's top Spanish goalscorer in European football is irrelevant? :D

Wish I could be used my my international team

Alan Tate played in goals for swans twice too, doesn't make him a goalkeeper.

He's an attacking midfielder, Swans play 4-5-1 and usually it's either schecter or graham up front. Michu has played there a few times due to neither being very good.

No more than the ones reciting their attendances.

It's not a secret they play 4-5-1 and you only need a basic knowledge of European football to know Michu is a midfielder not a striker.

I have given you the benefit of the doubt regarding trolling, so please don't prove me wrong. You have said you are not interested in the topic, if that's the case - stop clicking on it.

Re: Michu call up to Spain squad (ignore if not interested)

IMO I think Michu is a class player from what I have seen of him and it doesn't really matter what team he plays for so I'm going to ignore the fact he plays for Swansea and say that he deserves a call up to prove he can do it at International level, isn't that how most players prove themselves by getting a call up otherwise how can the managers of country's see how they cut it at that level.
Bothroyd was never going to make it for England and it proved it when he got called up and it's no coincidence that he hasn't been called up since.
