Family Stand.

Half Full at best.

This is getting silly now and looks ridiculous.

I here people bleat on about this family club of the year, what we are doing for family's etc etc but the fact is that end of the ground is an absolute joke.

50% of its occupants were missing today, its simply to many.

Agreed. The problem is the season tickets are so cheap up there that parents buy them and then just turn up whenever they feel like it, or against a "big team" what the club should do is take season tickets off people who aren't turning up. It's unfair to families that want one and WANT to go to every game but can't.

I fully agree mate and have made my feelings clear on it in the past.

Its an absolute joke at the moment a total cock up.

It's the pricing that is wrong not the parents. At £11 for an under 9 it's worth getting them for your kids even if you only take them for two games a season. If it was £150 a season ticket it wouldn't happen. More expensive u9/u16 season ticket prices but cheap match day prices for same age group is the only way to solve it. However this actually punishes those who do bring the kids every week.

I went out to the toilet half way through second half today, no exaggeration couple of hundred kids playing on those machines and loads of parents stood around having a beer watching game on TV, club need to sort this out.

Why are the games machines on during the game?

If the parents are under the stands drinking all through the game that is probably more lucrative for the club than having them sat in the stands. So I don't think they'd have any incentive to stop that. Same with the kids on the machines nagging their parents to get them something to eat/drink.

A NUMBER OF PARENTS TOOK ADVANTAGE OF THE OFFER IN THE PREMIER BOXES TODAY. THEY ARE SEASON TICKET HOLDERS WHO TOOK THEIR KIDS AND THEIR FRIENDS TO EXPERIENCE WHAT THE MATCH WOULD LOOK LIKE FROM THE GRANDSTAND. UNFORTUNATELY THEIR SEATS WERE NOT TAKEN BY THE PAYING PUBLIC THROUGH THE WEEK.

But not half the stand. Probably no more than 50-100 would have upgraded if that

Exactly.

I'm not sure how many people the family stand holds, someone told me 7,000.

If this is the case at the very least 3,000 people in that stand didn't turn up today.

This is just wrong.

All season ticket holders are included in the final attendance whether they attend or not.

According to Wikipedia the Capacity is 26,828.

Ali said the attendance was 26,073 but we all know there wasn't that many people there.

I would say it was more like 22,000 with 2-3000 missing in the family stand and the rest in other parts of the ground.

Re: Family Stand.

I thought around 24000 was there today

If there family stand holds 7000 (anyone confirm) then a 25,000 crowd is impossible as even the most hardened defender of those who frequent the stand would have to admit that it was (being generous) just about over half full.

So you can take 3500 off the capacity straight away and then add empty seats elsewhere.

To me it looked very busy not full but busy. There was as many empty seats all over the ground

Certainly looked more in there today than usual

Re: Family Stand.

Sat Dec 15, 2012 9:30 pm

Pretty sure it's about 7,000 from corner flag to corner flag so that would include 2,500 away seats. So approx 4,000 seats can be sold as family stand season tickets.

I think it's slightly more than 7,000 in Ninian and less on the grandstand side.

They should defo swap family stand with canton its an absoulute joke. If they did it would create a MUCH better atmosphere

What about people with families who enjoy sitting in the Grange why penalise them for people who stay away.

Oh right, Thanks for that mate, those numbers seem more realistic, probably more like 1500 stay aways in the FS then at a guess.

its hard to change once the season ticket has been bought, but surely the club know the seats that week after week aint being used,if a certain seat doesnt come for 70 percent to me they should be stopped from renewing

Doesn't that money go to Compass though?

I have a few friends who take their young children in the family stand and they say they hate it as they always have missiles thrown at them by the away and the young kids can hear all the swearing. I agree, it is not nice for the young kids. Why put the family next to away fans?! Stupid idea. If all us lads in the canton were there we could banter with away fans and it would create a better atmosphere. It would be like the old grange end at Ninian :ayatollah:

The Family Stand is a joke. People not turning up and those who actually go leave 10 minutes early.

Apart from when the away end sells out (about twice a year) there are never any away fans near the family section as they tend to segregate off starting off on the ninnian side depending on how many away fans are actually there.

If they dont like it in there then move thats their choice, just to make a sweeping statement swap the Grange and the Canton is annoying, lets swap the Grange and the Grandstand then.

The old grange end at ninnin? Gap increased every year due to missiles being thrown etc, watch the football not the away fans!!

This is my first season as a ST holder in the family. I spent two seasons being billeted around the ground and it used to piss me off when I looked at all the empty seats in the "sold out" family, But what do you really want the club to do ?

Have we ever had the "sold out" signs out, ever ???? So its not a problem until we get to the point where we deny entrance into the CCS when there are available seats.

I left 5 minutes early yesterday. Don't normally do that but had to get home asap as my Mrs had her work xmas party and i needed to be at the central for the 5.30 train to salisbury so i could be home by 8. As far as i'm concerned people who have paid their cash can come and go as they like.
