A forum for all things Cardiff City

Iv'e heard many fans on this board calling some fan's Plastic. Why is this ? If a person dips his hand in pocket and actually contributes funds to our club, then that's fine by me, Ok they may only turn up for some of the bigger games, but hey it,s a bum on a seat and potentially a lifelong fan! were we all plastic's when we went to watch our first game ? To me a plastic is a person who never goes to a game , sit's in front of the Tv with the Sky remote control ( season ticket) , shouting on their Hero's while posting how good they are on Facebook ... That's what i call a PLASTIC !!

Polo, etc.
Fans who pretend to love the City but really just use the club for their own status and trying to look hard.
Fans like him just old and bitter because times have changed and a new generation are taking over and replacing them.
They can't handle the truth, it hurts them so much they come to a public forum to whinge about it rather than just MTFU and dealing with life because they are mature and life experienced men. They should have wives and children to look after by that tender age but instead spend their lives all day on a forum trying to provoke a reaction from people they've never met as if they have to prove something.
These plastics who use the club for their own purpose are not hard or clever, they are not something special, they are in the words of Del Boy Trotter, complete PLONKERS.
Inb4 abusive comments. Create a sensible post and you get idiots jumping on it because it is the only thing tht satisfies them in their pathetic life so you may as well tell it as it is.

Those who turn up in the glory days, talk bile and pretend to have been there through "the barren days".

I dont go to anywhere near every game, I have a city shirt from 3 seasons ago and I havent followed them since 1948.
What makes me a city fan is the butterflies I get every time they play, the gut wrenching feeling when they lose, and the fact that I cant shut up about it when they win.
I Cant help the feelings I have for the team/club ha!

You don't have to go to games to love Cardiff City.

Someone who goes to an FA Cup final for the day out but has no other interest in the club.
To me everyone else are just fans.

I have never liked the term 'plastic'
To me anyone who claims to be a Cardiff fan are just that, whether they attend games or not.

Nor me.
Funny thing is a lot of people who go on about not wanting plastics are the same people who moan about low attendances

To me whether you go once or 2000 times it makes no odds.
My dad introduced me to the city in the early 90s.
We used to go to every home game. Now he only goes on Boxing Day as one if his Xmas presents, and loves it. Already asked me if I've got his ticket.
He's still follows all the gossip results etc. just simply chooses not to go these days.

A plastic is someone who chases glory sitting by their tv. As Cardiff have not quite got there yet then we can't really say we have plastic fans.
Fri Nov 30, 2012 2:41 pm
I've been all over the country following city in my time but now I'm not in the best of health so home games only for me now and to be honest I couldn't stand up for a whole game if I wanted to.

The people that call others plastics are usualy the ones that have been going down for about 10 to 15 years and think they've got some sort of emotional copyright on what it is to be a true city fan.Makes them feel important and probably makes them think they've got a massive cock as well.I think a truer definition of plastic fan is the old fashioned "fairweather supporter" and every clubs got those. For me everyone that goes down the city is a fan whether their casual or "eat, sleep, piss and shit"City 24/7 and all should be encouraged.

Breath of fresh air. Its not that I wouldn't like to go to every game. A city fan is a city fan and thats all there is too it. No one can tell someone otherwise

The last line of this post says it all .............ALL SHOULD BE ENCOURAGE

Someone who uses their own website as a vehicle to ram their opinons down other fans throats and demeaning others opinions also usining the influence of the site to sensationalise threads that they are well aware will provoke a divide and bad feelings amongst fans of the same club this screams at me alternative agenda which by definition PLASTIC!.
Now i am pretty certain their must be some people out there on the WWW who would not hesitate in behaving in an undignified manner by using a football team just as a soundbite .

It would seem rather odd to have your own website but promote the opinions of others before your own

At the end of the day there will always be divisions amongst supporters of any club as long as it doesn't spill over into match days.

This forum is obsessed with plastics,it's as if you have'nt watch city against Rochdale in the old 4th div.in front of 2,000 fans your not a proper supporter. Also if you post somethink people don't likeyou get accussed of being a jack,or some guy posting under another name,or shit like he's not even from Leeds who cares.

I feel sorry for those who are 25 and under because the years they have been watching city have been successful and we have improved every year, yet sometimes they are tarred with the 'plastic' brush because of this.

Gents, I'm suprised this thread has not been bombarded with as much abuse as I thought it may have been! I am a recent member on this forum........In fact this thread finally convinced me to join. I am also curious of whay really constitutes a plastic.
I left the forces a few years back and settled in south Wales. My mate took me along to a Cardiff home game and I have been hooked ever since

(I'm a Jock by the way) Cardiff are my home team, I am a season ticket holder/Ambo and have been for the past few years. I rarely miss a home game and go to as many away games as I can. I take my lad to a lot of home games, he is 4 years old, and I have no doubt he will be a lifelong Bluebirds supporter.
I wasn't there in 'the good old days' of NP and the lower leagues. Now, my question is I am a plastic...................Answers on a postcard please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

People my age or younger get labelled as plastics by older fans which makes me piss, I apolgise for being born in 1996.
Fri Nov 30, 2012 11:51 pm
I don't get how people can say the good old days. We were shit what was good about them. maybe if the fuckers didn't just care about having a scrap more then the 2000 loyal chosen special fans might have gone.
As for banging on about the atmosphere being shit if you all sang and shouted as much as you moaned it might make a difference

The term "Fan" is short for fanatic.
The term "Supporter" speaks for it's self. You support the team/club, financially/vocally.
I think you can have a plastic fan by way of being a fanatic of a club but not supporting it.
So, if you are anti-rebrand, you are not a "fanatic" any more, because you are not fanatical about the club, you are part "anti" in fact?
So, do that make the anti-rebrands that still attend games, just supporters and not fans?
Those who have decided not to go anymore, are neither fans or supporters. Ex supporters/fans maybe?
Just playing devils advocate here and seeing what people think.
The term "sellout" is just a made up word for people, who want to lable others that have a different opinion to theirs I reckon. Show me one fan, who has sold anything?
Just an opinion.

Don't think there are many... To me a plastic is a top 6 shirt wearer who has never been anywhere near "their" club on match day.
I think of the old school consider the young un's and newbies as plastics- They are not !!!
I done 82~92 and came back 2010/11 season with my daughters and its two completely different experiences, I am not sure if away is closer to the old days, but judging by our ground i doubt it. The old days are gone at the top level (probably continues at lower levels), so the old school vent their despair at the "plastics"

Plastic for me is the sort of person that supports Liverpool watching their telly and then if a big CCFC game comes up, they suddenly support Cardiff.
If you go regular and support the team, you aren't a plastic.
