I'm not here to be bored with petty Swansea/Cardiff shit, especially when it comes to which message board fans view.

My answer was to the OP and explains the situation, as he was so concerned about our finances.

Not overly concerned but it did make me ponder to why such a thriving debt free club should feel the need to take out a xmas loan

It's all there in black and white. Cashflow problems at jack central. They will only get around 2.5 mill now in January and will need that to pay the wages til the end of the season.

I'm no financial expert but we have done something similar in the past, my guess would be that there is a fair bit of money tied up in building the new academy centre, training facilities and whatever is earmarked for expanding the Liberty. So, assuming that Laudrup has earmarked his transfer targets for January, we are just making sure the money is ready so that we can get our business done early in the transfer window, then when the Premier League money arrives, we pay the loan off.

That would be my guess anyway. As for being in financial trouble, in these current times, no bank in their right mind would lend money to a football club that wasn't on a very secure financial footing. Sorry to disappoint, but nothing to really see here.

You can't start a Swansea thread and then have a go at them for being on here

Cashflow is different to historic debt, I doubt they have to go begging to the bank and they probably get a better rate than 7%

If the Jack have got financial problems I am glad, because the whole house of cards will collapse and football can go back to the fans, not greedy owners.

2nd season in the PL, in the black on transfers.... Is this promised land worth it ?????????

Couldn't be arsed to read the link, I don't care either way about them.

Scotsjack, a question for you, if this expansion of the stadium goes ahead how is it going to work out?? the stadium belongs to the council, so if the football club pays for the expansion what benefits are he jacks going to get involving the stadium??? (apart from the extra income from more seating)

I never go on Swansea message boards. Poor grammar and spelling upsets me.

It's a good point. When it was discussed in the Summer, Huw Jenkins was pointing out that due to promotion, the club aren't in a position to run the special offers for kids and schools which he isn't happy about. Since we moved to the Liberty, the club have always ran things like "kids for a quid" etc. And he wants to bring that back as soon as he can. I have to say that he is spot on, long term, they are the supporters that we will depend on, and unless you are a season ticket holder, then getting a ticket at the moment is a lottery. The same with any club, you get the kids supporting the team when they are young, there is a fair chance that they will be fans for life.

As far as the expansion goes, the plans are already in place and will be completed in phases which again I think is common sense, build it up slowly with the fan base. I would imagine that the Swans will take a greater share in the stadium. (At the moment it is run by Stadco, with the Swans and Ospreys. Split 3 ways) There are also whispers that the Ospreys might be looking to move on, they already play a match at the Brewery Field, plus St.Helens and the Gnoll are more than capable of hosting the Ospreys aside from the very occasional European match.

On that note, with the report into the Rugby Regions struggling financially, it wouldn't surprise me if it was the Ospreys that got the chop.

Sorry for the spelling mistakes usually pretty good as for u saying we spent 6 million on ki and hernadez this is what happens in the second season in the prem u have to buy prem standard players if you get promoted your debts wont be wiped out because you will have to spend more money etc better players better wages your season tickets sales are really good in fairness so you will not increase revenue there so how are you going to get the debt sorted sensible anwsers plz.

Re: Swansea in financial trouble?

Sat Nov 24, 2012 11:48 am

apart from hammam our only debt is to our owner, he says he will turn this into equity, a bit like abramovich did at chelsea i guess. then we will be debt free and on 70 mill a year isit shud we get promoted.....so easy eh...
