' NEWCASTLE DONE BY A VERY POOR SIDE '

Sun Nov 18, 2012 10:23 am

My mate from Newcastle Martyn(stays in Santa Ponsa), never misses a Newcastle home game, sent me a text just now and he is always honest.

"Annis we were done by a very poor jacks team yesterday, which doesn't say a lot about us at present, no points from two consecutive easy home games, time to start and worry. You will be happy to know they brought a lot less than you lot, see the bluebirds are still flying high, good win over the smoggies for you"

The Newcastle fans yesterday didn't help the cause much, as soon as Dyer had his chance early on they went very quiet. Not a classic game by any means but any points on the road are always welcome at this level. If I'm honest, it was always going to be a case of whoever scored first would get the points and fortunately it was us.

Newcastle weren't at full strength yesterday, but neither were we, so these things even themselves out. This game last season was when Newcastle paid tribute to Gary Speed, the atmosphere was electric and we were very very lucky to come away with a point. Yesterday, I thought we deserved all three.

One thing though, after all he achieved last season, speaking to some Newcastle fans, they still haven't really taken to Alan Pardew? He is always going to be up against it with the Newcastle fans for whatever reason? A massive club, great stadium, massive fan base, but I sometimes think the expectations up there drag them down if that makes any sense?

Jacks will stay up more than 5/6 teams worse than them this season without a doubt.

Seems to be the opposite opinion on the Newcastle forum, in fact almost to a man.

Very complimentary to the jacks. Think your mate was winding you up.

They aren't poor sides, the majority of them walked the championship.

Swansea are just better than them.

i thought we played quite well....worth noting that we're operating a bare minimum defence due to injuries at the moment...and coping alright. monk is not really a prem quality player but hes been solid since coming in, in tremmel we look like we have a more than adequate 2nd choice to vorm and i have to say ben davies improves every game.

some of the counter stuff was brilliant from us also. and there seems to be more of a fighting spirit under laudrup which is good. that said, newcastle were playing some pretty crap long ball stuff, and ben arfa could have punished us if they didnt play him so deep! pardew is a bit clueless i think

Not really just the worst out of the 20. The jacks are in the top 10 on merit after finishing 11th last year also.

Waddle, I just text him back and asked him about your support yesterday, how many? He just relied, it looked like they had half a dozen, but probably a couple of hundred.

So did the jacks that season in fairness.

They also took 2000 odd to brizzle and we took around 600 if memory serves.

That wasn't the last time we played though, was it. I asked about the last time our senior sides met, "fella".

I've no problem in saying that you lot are better - you're doing very well in the prem and that's great for you lot.

What I do have a grievance with is how you suddenly claim to be the biggest side in Wales and the most supported team because, when you look at all the statistics, it really isn't true.

But they have a capacity issue, so the stats are misleading.

Correct at 5-1 I was devastated. Enjoyed the trip though.
