My First Taste Of 'Fire and Passion' Yesterday

Sun Oct 28, 2012 8:35 pm

Yesterday was my first experience of Cardiff City since the re-brand. Initially I decided to never go again so long as we played in red. I thought I'd give optimism the benefit of the doubt and at least try it once. Here are my thoughts:

You will never get used to it, why should we. Wait until we play a team in Blue shirts and white shorts, I shouted "man on" at the Brum defenders twice in the first 10 mins last month.

Its not life or death to me, but its not right. Anyway as its supporting a football club our first team look on track for a big season. I believe the Hull tickets start at £21

The thing is, though, that even if I badly wanted to go I wouldn't be able to afford it on a student budget. I was barely able to last season but this year it has been taken too far.

If you know what game you are going to, get your tickets when they first come out and they're only 20 quid. Well worth it and surely affordable? :ayatollah:

I didn't know this before mate. The point still stands though, why are they charging £39 for a ticket on a match-day when they haven't filled the stadium.

I also know of somebody who turned up to the game at half-time as he was caught up in traffic, and they wouldn't let him in even though he was offering money.

To be honest mate I think that's a crazy price and you should write to the club and see what they say.

The new ticket prices are meant to be based on demand so if there are still many going half an hour or so before the match, they should be as cheap as possible.

I think that's a bit harsh as well, especially if he wanted to pay. Maybe we could have a half time price which could be even cheaper and fill some empty seats!! :ayatollah:

So everyone waits till 30mins before kickoff to get cheap tickets and no-one can get into ground.....great idea!

i thought your article was a bit dramatic to be honest ... get a grip sunshine its only a game of football and if you buy your tickets early you`ll get them at a much cheaper price!

I suppose maybe not haha. But you have to agree that the prices offered on the day were a bit steep :D

Is it a flat price for any part of the ground now? ie is the grandstand the same price as the Canton?

Few things stood out for me..

I refused to watch Cardiff play under Tans Lucky Colour..

So instead of giving His beloved club much needed revenue he watches it online..

He claims he is addicted and a big fan and follows Cardiff but is unaware of our current pricing plan..

NinBlog, I am unable to attend home games due to the fact, I live in Scotland with my Wife and Daughter.
But If I was still living in Cardiff, no colour would stop me following my beloved club.

Not having a pop mate I'm just saying people don't know what they got til it's gone.Annis has vocally stated he loves the club but he is a bit disillusioned by the whole rebranding issue. But him like many others are still attending games and showing Tan or whoever owns the club, that although they own the club, they do not own it's soul.
We are the heartbeat and soul of this club... If more fans stayed away we would die a lot quicker than if tan Walked away.

That's my opinion on the matter anyway.
Other than that, thanks for bringing your blog to my attention as I love reading any and all thing CCFC :ayatollah:

Interesting blog read there Baker. I respect people's views, if they communicate them in an appropriate manner, so would never ridicule someone for not going down to support the lads due to the re-brand, just as I would not ridicule those that still go and tolerate the red.

I've kept going because I met Malky when he first took over and I promised I would keep supporting him and the players so long as they gave everything. They haven't dropped their end of the bargain so far so I feel I cannot drop mine.

However, life has changed for me drastically in the past few months. I've gotten married and we're expecting our first baby next year. Due to our low income it means I am likely going to have to relinquish my season ticket for a couple of seasons. It's a gut-wrenching decision and one that sod's law would crop up just as we are on the verge of the Premiership but such is life.

The way you explain your gripe, I totally understand but this is a complex situation with conflicting emotions. I am angry yet happy with things at the same time. How dare someone with no association or understanding to the club's traditions come in and change a large part of the soul of this club. However, we've been heading down this road since the Hammam days and we are a club in a desperate state and we surrendered our luxury of being successful and keeping our identity when Hammam and Ridsdale shafted us.

I've just stopped thinking about it and decided to focus on the football. I go to the games to have a laugh with mates, support the boys and just appreciate the Saturdays at the football while I can until the baby comes. There are those that can't go down due to the re-brand and that's fair enough. Each to their own. Nice to see the view you have though.

The same, I cant get used to the colour, it's just not right. However I'm just getting on with it this season, if there are any more radical changes I don't know if I'll be able to carry on.

The only reason I'm still going this season is because Cardiff City is, as mentioned in the blog, an addiction

Same here, although, at times more recently, I feel it's a habit rather than an addiction, so that could be a sign I'm losing interest. I hope not.
