Does the bluebird really matter?

Fri Oct 12, 2012 5:50 pm

Lots of rumours, that may or may not be true, that the bluebird will be consigned to history next season.

Would it bother you if this does indeed turn out to be true?

Nope, because I will not be watching if its the case. If the bluebird and nickname goes as suggested. :(

im not sure to be honest the bluebird does make alot of diffrence as its always been on the shirt but aslong as we are called cardiff city that will do for me

Re: Does the bluebird really matter?

Of course it matters, well it does to me anyway.

i think if you look at history and everyone bangs on thats all we ever had its actually about equal how many years we have had a bluebird on the shirt one season in 59 then not again until 69 and obviously continous from there

Yes, it's our nickname,

Plus I gotta bluebird tattoo :o

I'm a reluctant red and it still is very weird watching us in red at home. However if they did get rid of the bluebird, I think that I would not renew my season ticket or ask for a refund, even if we were in the premier league.

What a stupid question. If we go up and get rid of the Bluebird I don't think we would sell out the stadium week in week out. So many people would stop going and I would be one of them

Gotta keep the bluebird :ayatollah:

Yes it does, just as much as our blue home kit did.

Of course it does, we're Cardiff City The BLUEEEEBIRDS!!

Get real. If you think I'm not going after waiting 50 years for top flight football then you're very much mistaken. :ayatollah:

Yes it would bother me, the BLuebird is what I have only known since I started supporting Cardiff in 1972, its also our nickname, WE ARE CARDIFF CITY,THE BLUEBIRDS. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:
Let Tan dare strip us any further of our identity and even I might finally call it day, no matter if we were in the Premiership, I would not renew my season ticket.

How would people feel if the small bluebird was removed off the badge but a bigger bluebird placed on the back neck of the shirt like the welsh flag used to be?

Inside I'll always be a Bluebird, I'll still cheer for the Bluebirds and chant "Bloooobirds" each time they score. The images and emblems are irrelevant - its what's inside that counts.

Change of tactic hey, fighting a losing battle with the red, so let's have a what if battle. :x

No. I have lost the battle about the colour and tbh I think I'll lose the 'battle' for the bluebird too :D

Genuinely interested in peoples opinions on it though.

You are right it is a 'what if.' As a matter of interest 'if' it was to fall by the wayside next season would it be a matter of concern to you? Not fishing and I agree it's purely hypothetical but I am genuinely interested in your feelings on it because we all have different emotions about various parts of the club's identity.

Thanks :ayatollah:

Just scare tactics yeah! Next you'll be saying they are going to change your traditional colours, from Blue to Red !! and also that the badge will will be changed too. The wonderful owners would never do that would they?

I agree with this, I am a Cardiff City Die Hard. As long as we are Cardiff City I shall support them.
Owners come and go and this is just another phase of our history. We will be blue again one day. :ayatollah:

That wouldn't bother me that much as our nickname would still be the Bluebirds, it would hurt to see the Bluebird go from the badge but it's important to keep the nickname

We don't know how much is true but that may be a way of Tan being able to market the club in Asia with the badge and us keeping the bluebird.
