A forum for all things Cardiff City

Mine was Middlesborough early 80's, for some reason i don't no why to this day we left Cardiff at midnight. We arrived in the shithole that is Middlesborough about 7ish, the first thing i saw was a mob of about 30 lads hanging around, i thought jesus what have i let my self in for.As it turned out they were city fans, who made a weekend of it. As soon as the pubs was open, we started drinking, having a good time. While the rest of the city contingent were taking a hell of a beating apparently. We got into the ground no problem, lost the match. Then the nightmare began, the trip home. My mate threw up his 10 pints of John Smiths lager all of the back seat, the stink was atroscious. Had to sit on an empty flagon all the way home with the window half open (it was the middle of winter) we got to the motorway and it was closed due to fog, we had to take the scenic route home. When i finally got home, i had work on the Sunday.
Never Again. What was your worst away trip?

No doubt MK dons away at the ice rink arena.
No roof, hammered down with rain and most fans left by half time
We won't 1-0 croft scored but what a vile game

leeds fans looked as fed up with it all as we did
truly horrendous

i can only remember the 2nd half of that game as i was steaming but your right, horrible weather in a ground which should have never been allowed to stage a football match.

Watford Boxing Day a couple of years ago. Not much booze on Christmas Day for the drive up, Darcy Blake and Naylor got torn one by Will Hoskins, Marshall saves a penalty, Whitts puts us 0-1 up and we lose 4-1 without another shot at goal that I can remember and by the time we left you could only see about ten yards because of the fog. Its the closest I've ever come to leaving a game early. Shit drive home too.

if the game had carried on for another 10 mins it would have been 7-4 to them

There was a definite foul for their equalizer and I'm sure we had a chance to win it at the death, but they probably would still have scored twice to snatch it even if we had scored.

3-0 loss to Bristol 2 seasons back? Left with plenty of time, Got the tickets from the old bill they come on the bus and said we will take you to the City pub and then escorted us 3MPH down the carageway only for us to just make the kick off.
Bastards.

A few seasons back against Plymouth. Think we lost 2-0 not sure but Rhys Weston got sent off and we had a shite game specially to lose against those lot. I also remember we had to wait in the stand for ages before being let out to find a small group of Plymouth fans deciding to charge the crowd of unhappy city fans leaving the stadium. They must have got bout half way across the grass before turning tail

Millwall away in the 70's, did not see the match just got hammered by the wall!
Fri Oct 12, 2012 1:40 pm
One of em was Ipswich home last game at Ninian.
Result was awful, missed penalty,
Afterwards in the grandstand bar people nicking goods that were found in a cupboard, then stewards moved in and got a bit messy, and people getting angry etc!
And to boot a shit journey home
I've had a few horror ones but that was such a sentimental day that turned out to be awful, Blackpool play off final for one, awful day, tears everywhere at full time including my own

Got to be this this game! I was only about 11! I remember they closed the burger bar, so my uncle played hell with them. And the old bill made them open it

I can't remember what year it was but it was about 8 years ago when we lost away to Reading. I absolutely despise Reading's fans and it was so annoying having to put up with their gloating.

1- Brighton away in the 90's, touch and go whether game would be on as lashing it down, travelled down by coach then at the ground at 2pm game called off, Old bill worried about hundreds of city there advised if we wanted a drink they would "Police" a boozer for our safety. We all piled in and the same day ironically was 6 nations. The landlord however to annoy us decided to show England rather than Wales, and the taps went and half the booze wasnt there to be had. Then 2 hours later we head home only to find a lorry had jack knifed on the severn bridge which meant all round the houses back and round m50 took hours to get back lol
2- Another game that sticks in my mind for pure mental times was the early doors being smashed up in Mansfield like a scene from the wild west, the optics went through , tables,c hairs flying, i ran down the beer garden through a stream and up a banking as the plod went running in nicking anyone in sight. I felt like i had done an equestrian trial. lol
countless others but they would be up there.
