I always liked Chris Pike however I can't recall too many quality strikes by Pikey whereas 90% of Whitts goals are quality strikes from 25 yards.

Whitts... teams can force it, can pressure him, can chase him right up to our own
penalty box... but when they do that they are leaving GAPS. We have Mutch, Bellamy
Noone, Smith (one clever b*stard) Helguson, Mason, etc etc etc... Go on... force it...
keep Whitts out of the game... Cos we are starting to click, and actually have players
who can be more destructive than him on the pitch.

I fully concur with Mr Apple. I would not say this lightly or even utter it in hushed tones. But..... we are going up this season. We were business-like today and it is evident that on top of having a great setup and squad, we are quickly learning from mistakes, both individual and tactical. We understood Ollies' tactics today and not only stopped them playing, we punished them. No sitting back after scoring. No lapse in concentration at the back. And then I check the other results today and I know that its now our time. And when I started watching City, Jimmy Andrews (RIP) was the gaffer. Maybe it was the autumn sunshine today but I swear that I saw a halo around Whitts head. Clean sheet today was also important. Which unfortunately will not be the case in the GrangeEndStar household tomorrow morning as we are mostly eating curry that is so hot it would make Michael Barrymore think twice.

They all count TopCat and its refreshing to have a player of his ability to have the confidence to step and take them.
