So Peter Whitingham

So Peter Whitingham is one goal short of making our top 10, after scoring today. Whitts would join Chris Pike on 74 goals :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

So far this season he's been the best player in the league.

His free kick repertoire is worth the season ticket money alone.

I always liked Chris Pike however I can't recall too many quality strikes by Pikey whereas 90% of Whitts goals are quality strikes from 25 yards.

Club legend. Needs a statue and testimonial when he retires :ayatollah:

That's impressive from a midfielder in this day and age :ayatollah:
Shame he will never get the credit he deserves from some fans because he doesn't break people's legs or run around like a headless chicken.

A class act tho.

Re: So Peter Whitingham

He's also 19th in our top appearances list with 243 appearances in all competitions, just two behind Cohen Griffith :ayatollah:

Plus that was the loudest "He does what he wants" I've ever heard today :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

I actually agree with this, when considering how Whitts goes about his business as a City player.

Utter brilliance.

The most shocking statistic was the amount of us saying that he should before the season started!!

The boy Whitts is really the ultimate silent assassin!!

Re: So Peter Whitingham

When the history of Cardiff City is written Whitts should have a chapter all to himself.

As a previous poster has said , have we ever had a player who has scored so many spectacular goals?

To help us to promotion is all that is needed to confirm Whitts' position as a true legend of the club.

Best post about him i've heard!!

THIS is the difference now...

Whitts... teams can force it, can pressure him, can chase him right up to our own
penalty box... but when they do that they are leaving GAPS. We have Mutch, Bellamy
Noone, Smith (one clever b*stard) Helguson, Mason, etc etc etc... Go on... force it...
keep Whitts out of the game... Cos we are starting to click, and actually have players
who can be more destructive than him on the pitch.

So.... spread you resources my dear opposition, stop concentrating on Whitts.....

Its like taking your eyes off Lionel Messi (at this level)

I love this side. We've given away STUPID goals. Thats ok. Its not like we've really
been taken apart ONCE this season... except by.....

Craig Noone :D :D :D :D :D

We're going up!! I knows my football

Whittingham is a class player deserves every goal he gets like but after Palace we could pick up a bit more to pick up a clean away sheet

Whittingham scored 4 free kicks including pre season.

Cheltenham, Oxford, Wolves and Blackpool.. been there for them all :ayatollah:

I fully concur with Mr Apple. I would not say this lightly or even utter it in hushed tones. But..... we are going up this season. We were business-like today and it is evident that on top of having a great setup and squad, we are quickly learning from mistakes, both individual and tactical. We understood Ollies' tactics today and not only stopped them playing, we punished them. No sitting back after scoring. No lapse in concentration at the back. And then I check the other results today and I know that its now our time. And when I started watching City, Jimmy Andrews (RIP) was the gaffer. Maybe it was the autumn sunshine today but I swear that I saw a halo around Whitts head. Clean sheet today was also important. Which unfortunately will not be the case in the GrangeEndStar household tomorrow morning as we are mostly eating curry that is so hot it would make Michael Barrymore think twice. :ayatollah:

Bothroyd got an England cap. Whits for England?

Would he qualify for Wales?

In fact, I'm sure he benefits from the international breaks.

They all count TopCat and its refreshing to have a player of his ability to have the confidence to step and take them.

Against Leicester in the play offs.. Palace in the penalty shoot out.. Liverpool in the Carling Cup Final..
