If you are up in court in Cardiff and get sent down do you get sent to HMP Cardiff or can they send you somewhere else?

Assuming it is Cardiff has anybody on here been there or visited - is it a tough nick or is it alright?

can send you elswhere, but more that likley you go to cardiff initially.

Prefer not to go into that but have court coming up in a few weeks and expecting the worst

Cardiff at first, depending on the length of sentence you could get sent elsewhere like shrewsbury! Its full of brummy rastas that wanna make you theirs!

Depending upon your age and the offence you are facing, Cardiff is likely if over 21. Depending upon the length of sentence, the shorter the more likely that you stay in Cardiff

However the prison service can send you anywhere if you get a longer sentence. You can always make an application to transfer closer to home once you are serving

A mate said the same, thought prison was cool as f**k when he was in the open prison in usk, had his own key, young offenders, but had a little stretch in knox rd, his mind changed then, got beaten up by his cell mate for a pen , and came out a different person, shit pushed in mabey

Cardiffs really only a short term prison. Its only a small jail and isn't really designed for long term prisoners, so depending on the type of sentence you are looking at and yor age, I'd expect you to end up in parc! Cushy number uyp there, foods decent, all outside catering. Swanseas a shithole, you could well end up in swansea, and although its a shithole and tiny compared to otheer jails, always plenty of cardiff lads doing there bird up there so youl settle in well! With the jails so full though you really could end up anywhere, my bet is youl end up in parc, which is an easy number.

I only had 4 days whilst the judge made his mind up. Its a scare tactic to put the shits up decent lads and it did f*cking scare me. i wont lie.

I wasnt even guilty just pleaded guilty to a lesser charge so the 3 of us could get a better sentance.

Luckily I was in cell with a good friend. 23 hour lock up thank f**k.

I would expect you'l go to park, assuming 1991 is your yr of birth

it will be a walk in the park mate
can play pool every day if you behave yourself you could get a ps2. failing that write some books, the time will fly.

doing your time will be your easy bit lol the hard bit will be when you get out , jobs will became harder to get unless you are very lucky all the best thou even a tag becames a pain you may even get more problems because of it

Thanks for the info lads - I'm not from Cardiff so that's why I was asking. It seems like that Parc is far better than Cardiff or Swansea so. It will be my first time inside - have heard loads of stories just don't know what is bullshit and what's not.

Prison is no picnic, and anyone that says it is either hasn't been to prison or hasn't got much going on in there real life to miss while in prison. Boredom is a killer and being away from the people you love is hard. The sounds and smells of prison are a constant drain on you. And if you got a cell mate that's annoying and or unhygienic then yor sentence can seem twice as long. The funny thing about prison is, the longer yor sentence, the easier yor life in prison becomes! If yor a lifer yor prison surrounding can be quite comfortable with plenty of perks, single cell, more association better jobs in the prison, better courses etc to enrol in. Short stays in prison like a year or less can be very hard mentally and drag lol

All depends on what you have done mate. If yor only looking at a small sentence and you got know previous history of prison violence or suicide attempts then yes, you will be sharing a cell! When you first go to prison you are put on what's called an "induction wing" for a few days so you can get the hang of prison routine and the screws can monitor yor behaviour. Then after yor induction is over, you will be moved to a main wing and more than likely put in a cell with a fellow immate. If its yor first time in then they will pair you up with a similar inmate to yourself I.e another first timer or similar sentence to yourself! Only time youl get a cell to yorself is if you are doing a long stretch, or you are classed as a "risk prisoner" or you're on a detox. If you are classed as a risk prisoner I.e a sex case or a self harmer then you will go up on the 43s so you can be closely monitored, you get yor own cell then lol and the only time you will be on 23hour bangup is if you don't work or do any courses or don't go out on association. That's down to you though. Like if you don't want to do anything then youl spend most yor time in yor cell. Youl be ok pal. Just very boring and noisy. The noise when you go onto the main wing can be quite unsettling but youl get used to it. Just keep yor head down and pick it up as you go along with the prisons so full though youl probs get lucky and end up with community service and a fine, depending on whatever you have done aint to serious and you aint got a string of previous offences

Some prisons if you work kitchens you get your own cell, also some of the newer private wings of certain london prisons are all single cells with own shower.
I'm facing the same in a month, and will probably end up in scrubs first, good luck

23 hr lock up depends on your behaviour, you will go in on S.T.D regime you then have 12 wks to behave yourself, if you behave yourself you could find yourself on Enhanced regime, miss behave and you will end up on Basic regime, Basic means less visits, less money to spend on canteen, and yes if you don't work 23 hr bang up, with no TV. the hardest thing for you will be loss of freedom, not seeing your loved ones apart from visits, hopefully it won't come to that, best of luck.

Watch prison break, get a load of tats all over your body, which lead out!
Be careful though, third season is in panama , not nice.
