Noone aka bowen

Sun Sep 02, 2012 7:04 pm

Back in the day when we was getting small gates before the newer fans come along on a weekly basis we had a winger called jason bowen this guy noone reminds me of him but better than bowen he can tear a new ring piece in many of fullbacks running at them just like bowen did back in his great days while hugging the touchline, this guy looks like the winger we have been missing for years. I know its early days but f**k me it was exciting today watching somebody having a go at a fullback as stupid as it sounds. :ayatollah:

Jas is one of my all time favourite Cardiff players, he doesn't have the pace of Noone but he certainly up there in the flair stakes.

I've seen quite a bit of him for Llanelli and even though he's a dinasour he still have some sublime touches!

The only probably I thought with Jason was his performances depended on whether his head was screwed on.

I remember Bowen well, last I heard he was playing for County. Another winger in the same ilk as Noone was a player called Bernie Lewis who played for the City during the 60s, explosive on his day. Fantastic to see Noone play well, an inspired signing, hopefully this manager manages to utilise him like this over the season and not cast him aside like he did Conway.

remember when he was like our best player and we were lower league basement boys
He would of been handy in the championship if he had time on his side when we emerged from the lower leagues, same as andy legg, and scott young could of been as good as collins/gabbidon

Agree he was back in his best years i see him about sometimes as hes from up my way, but this guy noone can tear a few new holes of his own i have no doubt about that. It was just refreshing to watch a player doing what wingers used to do and take the fullback on and skin him as we have not had that under MM untill now really :ayatollah:

he was ace, his head was oddly oversized for his body though

used to see him regular as used to live near me in Langstone (thats with an E, not Sam's dodgy company)

Yes i know he played a few games down in Llanelli when his old mate andy legg was or maybe still is there manager i dont know much about them tbh. I used to see him up merthyr town center on a sunday night having a few pints and have a chat with him about the old days even though there not that old and compare them to todays football and money thats in it, you wouldnt think he used to run about for £750 back then for us but it was still good coin back then as a footballer, we got kit mens assistants on that coin now . Times have changed

I remember watching him play. I was in my early teens though so I was never really analysing performances like that. Just willing the ball into the net.

What is still one of my favourite moments down the city was when Bowen beat a man while doing the :ayatollah:

Not sure if ballboys do it for free and get to watch the game thats what it was a few years back, maynard looked decent enough with his runs but hes not 100% yet even malky has said this once he is im sure the goals will come with it, if we use the same system that is :ayatollah:

Boys lets get one thing stright Noone is quick has loads of tricks, direct, ten times better than Bowen, who was a Jack!!!
Andy Legge is a bluebird (same team) but a Ledgend in my books, Bowen is a Jack never made the grade at City, please dont compare them..

Mark my words as stated before Noone will be a fans favourite for many years.. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

it would have been a great goal at the right end - a bit like Chopras from the touchline against the Wurzels. I remember Match of the day showing it endless times and ripping the piss out of him.

Ive already said noone is better than bowen so theres no need to try and get things straight when it was about a winger going at fullbacks just like bowen used to, thats all it was, did you come in this thread and scroll down then post without reading what was in the very first post, legg and bowen was both jacks but legg played more games for them than bowen so whats the diffrence or does it suit your post to say that ones a jack one is not
The joys of the internet.

I think bowen was more like tommy smith.
Leggy used to be my favourite them days. Leggy was only player we could give it to and i was confident he wouldnt lose the ball
