Personally, I'd define modern football with the crazy price tags and wages, the million doller TV rights and owners. Don't think all that was about 20 years ago.

"Modern Football", it's all about opinions. I started watching the Swans when I was a kid back in 1985, and I can still remember my old man moaning about modern football back then!

Football to him was all about the good old days of 100,000+ jammed into Hampden Park, or getting a train through to Ibrox, not the so called football that I was going along to watch. The sad bit was that he fell away from the game that he clearly loved back in the day, and started going along to watch the Whites play rugby more and more.

So, to him, the 80's was modern football and unrecognisable to the sport he grew up with in the 50's and 60's, much like I suspect many on here who have been following football for 20 or 30 years don't like everything about the game now.

But I will say this, taking my lad to the football these days is a much safer environment than when I was a kid, there are many things I miss about the Vetch, but without the rose tinted specs on, it was falling down and it was time to move on. Some may disagree, but as I say, all about opinions.

Of course it matters, how can they say they are against modern football if the haven't tasted anything else, whilst modern football brings a few minus's, there are far more plus's.

most of look back fondly and call them the good old days, but in reality they weren't that good, it's just that when you are young and full of life and vigor, they gonna seem like good days.

Older generations have witnessed far more change than people my age; at least I experienced Ninian though. Still, I wouldn't stand around with a banner like that at the age of 18.

You have to have been around through many, many years of supporting a club in order to make a comparison between footballing through the years.

Everyone can obviously have an opinion, but those with just a few years behind them cannot really talk about modern football killing the game NOW when their support was born into the modern game.

Their only doing it to because its the "cool" thing to do! The fact is that if it wasnt for modern football and we we're still in league 2 they wouldn't be watching us they'd be supporting man utd/chelsea etc. Every single sport moves on with technology,better facilities etc theres just some fans who can't move on.No one wants to change colours but it has nothing to do with modern football its just simply a rebrand as other clubs have done ,even 20/30 years ago eg Leeds.Its quite laughable 15-18 year olds holding up these banners

you could certainly say that the involvement of sky 20 years ago modernised and shaped football as we all know it. I mean we now play our games when sky want us to.

My children's safety is paramount but the banter, singing and togetherness when we chant as a full stand is lacking at CCS.

The atmosphere couldn't have been much worse to be fair. One bonus is it's a better environment for familes/kids at the CCS, not that that matters to most fans like yourself.
