DISABLE SEATS WHY ?

Fri Jul 06, 2012 2:00 pm

I dont think many people have posted this before, if they have Im sorry.
But I cant understand why it is that the disable people are put out in the rain !
alot of people in wheel chairs of course have some kind of disability, and alot of of them if they get wet has to site in the wet all match. As a lot of you may know it can be very dangerous for a disable person to get a chill as it can go straight to there chest and then there lungs and then it can turn into all kinds of problems. so why dont they put a shelter over the disable seats as they are out in all kinds of winds and weathers where they are now. :old:

It's the way the stadium was built unfortunately, couldn't really put them anywhere else but they're given free tokens on hot drinks I think and always given a free waterproof

They have lids :old:

I guess they have to fit at the front due to access reasons and a shelter may block the views of others.

Again these things should have been thought of ! I bet the guys who drew up the plans for this CCS got really big Bucks, is to think of disable people just a 2nd thought ? I think not !! or do you think they drew it up in an afternoon ?

Is this a wind up, there are loads of disabled seats up in the balcony areas, the club have made huge advances in the facilities offered, I believe for ratio of crowd we provide more spaces than many ground due to the fact they had to be planned and built into the spec for a new stadium, there are some near the front but they are not forced to sit there, it may be their preferred view.

If you'd seen so,of the facilities or lack of them I have been put in when watching for years with my old mate Beefy, often we would just be told to find s spot along the touchline and the helper would have to sit on the floor by the side of the chair. :old:

There's about 50+ wheelchair and helper places which are "high and dry" at CCS. They are situated on level 3 at each end of the grandstand. There's an excellent view and they are well sheltered from the rain. But since we've moved from NP the number of wheelchair fans following City has risen massively. That is very welcome news indeed but most of the newcomers unfortunately for them have to take the pitch-level seats, which as you say, expose them to the elements. Hopefully, when the stadium is expanded the Club will think of putting more disabled people in elevated parts of the stadium where they can enjoy a good view of the pitch and stay dry at the same time. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Well thank god your not a Doc then, but you don't have to be to know that disable people can get colds more easy, and can in some cases cause one hell of problems for them, cold turn to all kinds of problems for them. I thought even a right dick head would know that.

Why are you aiming that comment at me? I was actually criticising CP76 for his disrespectful comment about disabled people. ie "I dont see why a disabled person getting wet is any different to anyonelse who sits at the front"

Is that a dig at disabled people for getting in cheaper than others or a dig at the club for putting them in the cheap seats? Or none of the above?

well to be honest i think you're being rather patronising , just because someone is in a wheelchair it doesn't mean they can't play f**k about having shitty seats , and as stated in the thread there are ample seats further up in the stadium which i presume are reached via a lift so perhaps these people want to sit there ! and they can do without some do gooder looking at them thinking oh pity look at them getting wet

well said, my son is a wheelchair user after a motorcycle accident. he would hate being treated any diffrent from a normal fan, and gets wet the same as anyone else.
oh and hes definately never been given a hot drink or anything else !

Not everyone of course. But as a general rule wheelchair users (and the vast majority of disabled fans are wheelchair users) are, as a group, more vulnerable to illness than non wheelchair users. My son is severely disabled and I was simply reacting to some comment which I think is disrespectful to people like my son. I hate people who are dismissive of disability and who begrudge any little advantage that society gives them. If they themselves are jealous and would like those little perks themselves then they are welcome to take the disablity that comes with it. :ayatollah:
