They will have to deliver ?

Fri Jul 06, 2012 7:20 am

Reality.

My strong opinion.

The Malaysians have in many fans minds, have divided our fans and promised so much in fact £100mill and included in that a debt Free club. Plus hopefully an amazing future.
VT/TG have said they want automatic promotion this season.
Malky has said he has been fully backed and is very happy, the honeymoon is over for Malky, Malky had a fantastic first season, but now with him saying he is fully backed, he will def have to deliver in my mind.

Who do u think has the most pressure the Malaysians or Malky to deliver ?

I think Malky, as going by how VT works, if Malky does not deliver this season, he would be the first for the chop.

But also personally think they the Malaysians and Malky all have to deliver this season, the Malaysians will have deliver a debt Free club and promotion.

Do u think they have to deliver promotion this season?

Yes I still want my Blue/Badge/Pride/Identity back.

Up or bust this year we have to go up you can spend millions in this league and still not go up its all down to the manager and training staff. :ayatollah:

Annis, Tan has put himself in a position where he must be seen doing his best and beyond to ensure that Cardiff become premier league.
My worry isn't about what happens to Tan, It's what happens to Malky?
I belive we have a Young and very talented manager on our hands who if he can get what he wants could work wonders( look at last season for instance)
However foreign owners in the past haven't had much patience, and if we don't hit ground running or seem to be failing in Tans eyes then I can see them chucking Malky.
Which IMO would be a bigger mistake than the colour change.

(I'm not saying the change is a mistake at the moment as you never know?)

Only time will tell.

I think you're absolutely right that the Malaysians and MM will be under intense pressure from the fans to deliver promotion this season, particularly after the controversial changes that have been made to our club recently. However MM will also be under massive pressure from the owners to ensure we are a Premier league club next season. A poor start and his job could be on the line by Christmas. Hopefully this will not be the case and a few shrewd signings should see us challenging again this season.
I also agree that Malky had an excellent first season with the club but I am concerned about his inability to bring players in during the transfer window in January and also the style of play he adopted during the last few months of the season. I'm sure however with a stronger squad with more options this won't be the case in the coming season! :ayatollah:

If we dont get promoted none of them will be here next season

Re: They will have to deliver ?

Most were happy on where we finished last season based on what Malky had to work with at the beginning of the season.
My main concern was we couldn't pull in the players to the club when we needed them most .
In some ways we are in the January window all over again now . Most are looking for a boost to get us out of this rebranding trough , whether it's players or paying off our debts.
A bad start to the season could see a spiralling resentment and flagging attendances.

I see you,ve got your daily dig in against VT early today annis, so if we had a poor season and malky got the chop are you making out that this would be a rare decision in football?? Chelsea do it every other month, Villa, Man City, Spurs, West Ham etc, the list goes on and on. Also what evidence do you have that VT would sack him?? afterall, most of us thought DJ should have been given his cards after the bottle job against Blackpool, he wasn,t and stayed for another two years, as for who is under the most pressure, it,s probably malky, due to the nature of the job, the bigger the funds he has available the more pressure on him to deliver.

Re: They will have to deliver ?

Fri Jul 06, 2012 9:00 am

Both have to deliver. VT and TG have promised so much and we have yet to really see any of it apart from the rebrand. I know that we haven't started the season yet but the Malayasians have a lot to deliver in one year.

As for Malky, the circumstances have changed a lot since last year and fear that if he doesnt deliver I fear he may have the chop. As much as I wouldn't want him to leave if we don't get promoted as I believe he is one of the best young managers in the country right now and we need a bit of stability within the back room staff.

If either party doesn't deliver I think that there will be a back backlash from a lot of fans, especially the people who are willing to except the changes and see what the season brings. It's make or break this season.

I just hope i enjoy plenty of games this season thats why i go to watch. Good standard of football in the championship but would be nice to get to the premiership :ayatollah:

Annis, I think all of this rebrand has been a one season gamble and everything has been staked on promotion to Prem next season.

For what they have done to my club. Causing division amongst us, making us a laughing stock, lying, crapping on our history and heritage, that beermat badge, non negotiating........

ITS TOP 2 SIMPLE AS THAT. I still want my blue shirt and bluebird badge back, but top 2 will be very sweet considering the hell of all the above that they have caused.

RED OR DEAD MY ARSE.

GIVE US TOP 2 END OF.

Re: They will have to deliver ?

Fri Jul 06, 2012 9:35 am

2 other things.

Malky, you HAVE to deliver this season son. Some of the football last season was the worst I have seen since we had Jon Schwinkendorf in the team, thats a long time now. Thats how painful and boring it was.

The other thing, can we go one season without making the news headlines with off field bollocks like Golden ticket scams, rebranding, administration, banning orders blah blah. Lets make the headlines for the quality on the pitch.

Hardly a dig is it. It would appear Annis cannot even mention VTs name without someone like you throwing his toys out of the pram.
Anyway back to the thread. Both VT and Malky both have to deliver. Some would argue that Tan has already subjected us to a bit of stand and deliver but at least Dick Turpin wore a mask  .
I think we have paid a heavy price with what we have given away especially as it has divided the fans. There is now an expectation as never seen before and we will have to wait to see if VT makes good on his promises. Nothing earth shattering has transpired yet and we may have to wait till the Langstone debt is out of the way before we begin to see some real progress. :ayatollah:

Re: They will have to deliver ?

Fri Jul 06, 2012 9:42 am

If I had to choose between the 2, then I'd prefer a debt free club.

The fact that Malky was given a 3 year contact by the owners means that as long as we at least challenge this year his job is safe, in my opinion. However, mid table obscurity could see him go sooner.

Re: They will have to deliver ?

Fri Jul 06, 2012 9:45 am

I think we have no divine right to go up, even if we DO spend big.

Leicester fucked up. so have countless others.

but Vincent Tan definitely has put a lot more pressure on himself and
On his manager with the rebrand.

Simply put... How can he justify his lucky color red if we f**k up.

By the end of this season we will see if there has been a marked pick up
In our shirt sales... And I'm talking far east.

If there hasn't been, and we don't get promotion.???

A lot more supporters will be rethinking how they feel about his ownership.

Maybe he'll be thinking hard about his future too???

but f**k it, for now I'm going to keep my head down and follow the team and the
Manager. Two weeks from now we will ALL by buzzing as we will have a few more
Good signings in and more to come. I hope :D

Re: They will have to deliver ?

Promotion is a must this season no matter what... Fans are already talking about the Premier League in 2013-2014 due to the big talk coming from inside the camp... TIME DO DELIVER!!! :ayatollah:

Re: They will have to deliver ?

Fri Jul 06, 2012 9:49 am

Personally I think the pressure is on VT. At the moment the fans love Malky and are against VT.
VT also promised to spend money but we haven't seen that as of yet.

If we start to struggle and dont bring in enough new players I can see the crowd chanting anti VT songs rather than Anti MM.

Also if Malky was sacked, who would want the job. We know ourselves there is not busisness plan (apart from Tan's vision)
what decent manager would want to take the job under these circumstances.

but...

if VT does spend big - Then the pressure is definately on MM - (But we need to see these signings)

I agree with everything you say. Not much has happened yet and some fans are becoming twitchy.I don't expect a great deal to happen till Langstone are paid off but once this has happened then VT will have to deliver big time. If VT fails to deliver then I have no doubt he will be in for a rough ride from the fans. :ayatollah:

If the line i have highlighted is not having a dig at VT then i don,t know what would be classed as a dig, where is anybodys proof that VT would sack malky if he failed to take us up this season????? as for throwing toys out of a pram, well you, the minority, who are not prepared to see where this re-branding takes us have been toy throwing ever since this whole saga started!!!!!

Re: They will have to deliver ?

Fri Jul 06, 2012 11:12 am

no i dont think we'll go up being honest ,but depends on who else comes in .we do need top 2 as this club will keep on failing in the play offs.

Re: They will have to deliver ?

Fri Jul 06, 2012 11:38 am

In a strange way I almost think there is no pressure on Malky or VT.

We either get promoted and Malky and VT are by most seen as hero's. Or we don't and we go into admin, meaning they won't be answerable anyway ?

Re: They will have to deliver ?

Fri Jul 06, 2012 12:08 pm

I don't think it's a case they "have to deliver".

It's more a case of they want to deliver becasue otherwise they won't make any money on a £100m investment in their business.

Re: They will have to deliver ?

Fri Jul 06, 2012 12:17 pm

The pressure is most definitely on Malky simply because the current squad is nowhere near good enough for promo imo ! True we got to the playoff semi last season - but it could be argued logically we did better in each of the previous two seasons under DJ ! I'm ignoring the Carling Cup - great day out though it was - the Holy Grail has to be the Premiership & nothing else !

Having sold our soul - been forced to sell our soul rather , theres likely to be an almighty reckoning if , and when , it becomes clear we aint going up next May . If we aint playing Premiership footy after this season - the current divison amongst fans will seem like a playground spat and Tan & Malky will be amongst the premier targets , in that order . I personally think Malky will be under immense pressure if this season goes pear-shaped , from both above and below !

Re: They will have to deliver ?

Fri Jul 06, 2012 12:22 pm

Shame it's down to this, I wanted to go up as dark horses but with money is added expectation

Re: They will have to deliver ?

Fri Jul 06, 2012 12:53 pm

I just think its a little naieve to expect to go up auto, with the squad we have and desperation for new additions, which it seems is not forthcoming at the mo.
Even if we get the so called 5 new players, no pre-season and bedding in time its going to be hard.
I hope to god we do it, but just being realistic. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Re: They will have to deliver ?

Fri Jul 06, 2012 1:16 pm

Alot of money will have to spent for automatic, in recent years birmingham, hull, pompey have not had a the slightest chance of bouncing straight back---this season, bolton, blackburn and wolves will go close as will blackpool and leicester who at the moment have better sides on paper and dont write off hull or leeds if there is investment---- i hope a few mill is spent and if it is id still take the play offs

It's strange that Malky is getting criticised widely for not rushing into making signings yet this thread is saying that he has to get us promoted or he's for the chop.

It can't be both ways surely!

Re: They will have to deliver ?

We almost certainly have to do it this season after all the current turmoil we are being put through. I am fully 100% behind Malky the team and the owners and although spending huge ammounts of money doesn't gaurantee you anything I must admit to feeling a little edgy with the lack of quality signings to date. Jordon Mutch I think is a good signing but I do believe we need atleast 4 more quality players, particularly a pacey winger and a couple of real good strikers. Still early days though.... Can't wait for the season to begin now :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:
