As soon as they amalgamated the 23rd/24th/41st (RRW/RWF) it was always on the cards it would end up as one battalion.

It was the previous government that caused the black hole in MOD finances. Alleged £38 mbillion was missing when the audit was done. So this government had to account for that with its current budgets.
Also we will need less of an army as this government does not go lookung for wars and countries to attack, unlike Labour.

The TA do a sterling job no doubt about it, their role as changed dramaticly that is why it is so clear to see why westminster are going down this road. It seems sentiment, history and tradition count for nothing, its all about the fatcats and cash.![]()

They want people to put their lives on the line but they don't want to give them what they deserve, a career and a pension.

As I said before, I would NEVER cut the MoD's budget. This government is destroying this country, cutting every sector, high un-employment. Funny thing is, it doesn't look like the economy is getting better but worse. You say we need less of an army as this government "doesn't go looking for wars" (![]()

), I promise you, if there's a chance to go for Iran they would jump it, why? Same reason for Iraq (thats your hint).
What about the Falklands? With the Argentines crying again over the Falklands, why? Cause of the recently discovered oil and I believe there's elections there soon, Falklands is a perfect chance to gain support despite the country being in the shite economic wise, their economy is in a worse state than ours.

Falklands - don't need the army. One submarine will do the job. It's all posturing from the Argies. Their army etc is shit, has not improved/upgraded since the Falklands in '82.
No way this goverment would go to war in Iran, unless NATO etc all go. Remember it was B Liar who was desperate for the Iraq (second war). Also Afghanistan was another of his choices..
Agree the MOD budget should not be cut. What is the point of good services when you cannot defend yourselves.
My problem with it is too many pen pushers in Whitehall who should go first. But how many regiments are full (numbers wise)?
Probably very few. Kids today are too lazy, and the standard of fitness in general is appalling, as is the education standards to use the high tech equipment. So they only use of a lot of these youngsters is as cannon fodder.
