"Sky Sports will broadcast Cardiff City v Huddersfield as the first npower Football League match of the new season.

The match, which will kick off at 7.45pm on Friday August 17, will be the first of up to 75 live npower Football League games to be shown on Sky Sports HD this season including the Play-Offs and all three Play-Off finals from Wembley.

In consultation with the Football League, Sky Sports has confirmed eight live fixtures including two over the opening weekend of the season.

The live fixtures confirmed include:

- Cardiff City v Huddersfield - Newly promoted Huddersfield travel to the Welsh capital for the opening Championship match on Friday August 17.

- Leeds United v Wolverhampton Wanderers - Wolves travel to Leeds for their first fixture back in the Championship on Saturday August 18.

- Bolton Wanderers v Nottingham Forest - Relegated Bolton Wanderers host Forest at the Reebok Stadium on Friday August 25.

Sky Sports will also show two live matches from round one of the Capital One Cup; Oldham Athletic v Sheffield Wednesday on Monday August 13 and Swindon Town v Brighton on Tuesday August 14.

As usual, some benefit, and some lose out. Won't affect me personally, cos I can make both days, but actually feel sorry for the Huddersfield fans. Their first away trip in the Championship, and most will probably have to take a day off work now.

Was initially pissed off with the news as I thought I was on a late shift on the Friday but knew I was off on the Saturday, but just checked my shifts and I finish at 3.30 on the Friday..happy days
