Paddy Kenny Up For Sale

Sat Jun 23, 2012 7:35 am

22 clean sheets for us in our title winning season.

Rumours Warnock not being backed financially at Leeds.

You have an ok keeper but I think Kenny is much better & will win you minimum 10-12 points on his own with his saves.

A keeper is the last thing I want. Kenny is a good keeper, but although Marshall can have some dodgy kicks or catching, his shot stopPing is right up there. Scotland's number one makes ridiculous saves that should be impossible sometimes.

Kenny is quality keeper and was obviously fundamental in you getting promoted two seasons ago. However we've got 3 decent keepers at championship level and we need desperately to strengthen in other areas. A right back, centre forward and wingers are a must.

Seems your happy enough with your GK. Kenny available for £700,000 apparently.

I see Danny Murphy is having a medical at Blackburn, I thought you'd be in for him. Still a quality player & look beyond his age & you have a player who will run a midfield. Derry done same for us.

Quality keeper would love him here, him and westwood coventrys ex keeper are the beat championship keepers by a mile!

Definitely don't need a keeper and lots of decent free ones anyway. We will take some of your strikers though.

I cant see us needing a goalkeeper; I feel quite comfortable with Marshall....was bit gutted when we lost Heaton. I think we're in the market for a LB,RB,RW,LW and 2 strikers being the minimum.

Whats the situation with the following:
Heidar Helguson (would be good addition and real possibility since he worked with Malky at Watford) ,
Tommy Smith
Jamie Mackie

Would be great to get them 3......do you think they'll still be part of Sparky's plans next season?

Central midfield is yet another area that is last on the list for strengthening. If you could find us some wingers that would be great.

I like Kenny as a player but we don't need three keepers on long contracts with good wages, would be a waste.

If Joe Lewis hadn't come in I would have said yes, but we no longer need a keeper. We're in need of defensive and attacking options.

Any chance we can grab DJ Campbell? ;)

He's a very good keeper but we don't need another one.

DJ Campbell is available for sale so is;

Heidur Helguson
Tommy Smith
Akos Buzsaky
Hogan Ephraim
Jay Bothroyd

Mackie is very much part of Mark Hughes' plans & proved to be a very trustworthy & reliable player when he was called upon last season.

Wingers you need? Few & far between decent ones as you know.

Blue when Jay first started out with us I could not fault his effort or application at all. He joined during a time of transition during the Briatore era & the club was a mess but throughout that he put in some decent performances never the less. As time went on he was in & out of the team but continued to put in some sturdy performances although throughout his failure as a big man to get less than 6 inches off the ground for headers were highly frustrating. He scored a couple of good headers for us against Manchester City & Tottenham away but continued to be in & out of the side. As time went on it was clear he wasn't going to be a starter & his performances started to dip. He didn't hit the deck but his all round play was just lazy. You would regularly see Joey Barton absolutely caning him for failing to win a header or run for a ball or even stick a leg out for a tackle. For these reasons alone I believe he was dropped & see no way back for him. I won't be sorry to see him go. Seems a nice lad but hasn't got that killer instinct you need as a front man in my opinion.

Quick note on your second point.

Loved Warnock, he single handedly galvanised our whole football club at a time we needed it most & produced a great team that virtually topped the division from the start of the season till the end. He was a top man manager & is perfect for the Championship but as many had said was found wanting at the top level. Tactics were poor, no plan B, his handling of Adel Taarabt who had been like a father figure to was abysmal, he seemed to have no control over Joey Barton & in the end s begging for him to be sacked I'm sorry to say. Will never hear a bad word said about the man but we 100% would of been relegated had he remained in charge & getting Sparky in will do us wonders over the coming seasons. His whole approach to everything he does is spot on & his preparation is meticulous & players are already saying how refreshing it is working under him & his team.

We just signed Rob Green mate so Kenny doesn't want to play second fiddle which is fair enough.

Do you think Rob Green is a good signing?

Re: Paddy Kenny Up For Sale

Sat Jun 23, 2012 7:41 pm

Very very good signing.

England number 2 & has been involved in the England squad continually for many years, every England manager has put him in goal or up until Joe Hart's emergence number 2, you don't get that unless your good.

I have many West Ham pals and although upset he's left said he's been brilliant for them & continually pulled off saves he had no right saving.

He will be remembered for one blunder for England but any knowledgeable football fan will know he is one of the best in the country.

Re: Paddy Kenny Up For Sale

Marshall is a quality keeper but Kenny is a better keeper and I'd take him.

5 of the 6 teams that have got promoted the last 2 seasons have keepers better than marshall in my opinion: Kenny, Ruddy, De Vries, Federici, Green. Possibly not Davis for Southampton but I haven't seen that much of him so could be 6!

Marshall is a very good keeper at this level but I think the teams that have been promoted over recent seasons, have had better keepers than Marshall.

I'm happy we've got Marshall though, but just making the point. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:
