Cardiff City sign Jordon Mutch from Birmingham City

Cardiff City have swooped to sign highly-rated midfielder Jordon Mutch from Birmingham City.


The England Under-21 international has signed a three-year deal with the Bluebirds after passing his medical on Friday.

The Bluebirds have taken advantage of the current cash problems at St Andrew's and have swooped on the 20-year-old playmaker.

The fee is likely to be in excess of £1m for the player who made his breakthrough last term under Chris Hughton.



Mutch, 20, was a former Derby County youth player before making the switch to St. Andrew’s in 2007.


Loan spells came with Hereford, Doncaster and Watford, where he worked with and impressed City manager Malky Mackay at Vicarage Road.

“I’m delighted that we’ve managed to bring Jordon in here at Cardiff City,” Mackay told Cardiff City’s official website.

“He’s a talented player who I know well, both from my time working with him back in Watford and from the progress he’s made at Birmingham City.

“Jordon is a top player with great potential for a big career in the game, which we hope to see him fulfil with us here at Cardiff City.

“His record of playing right through from Under 17s to Under 21s for England is also impressive and Jordon will no doubt make a great addition to the squad that we are building here in South Wales.”

Nobody saw this one coming. Well done Malky. Maybe he had sat down with
the lad and his agent and played hard ball. 'If it gets out, i'll walk' kind of thing!
Cos had a bidding war started on this kid it could have got messy. Has he learned
from last season? or was it just greedy agents with their own agendas fucked us
up? (and Brightons chairman)
