Bit of a loaded question that Annis.
You could load it the other way and say "would you swap the identity of the club or would you rather go bust?"

Getting to the Premier League is our target but I 100% don't want us to lose our identity to achieve it. I'd rather be in League Two in blue than in the Premier League in red.

I would like to see a percentage of the team made up of players who came through the club and know what the clubs history and identity is all about. If that means we don't get to the Premiership, so be it. I would like to feel the pride of knowing that the young lad coming on as substitute in the 79th minute is making his first team debut after X years working through the ranks. At least the club will still have its identity - irrespective of whether it is playing in blue or red. To me that should be the identity and heart, not the cosmetics associated with colour of the shirt.
I may be away with the fairies on this one in light of the current attitudes in specifically football and generally sport. My gut feeling is that the corporate monster that is the premiership is a greater risk to identity (re. plastics arguement) than any kit change.
Answer is Cardiff City FC not Cardiff City PLC. If that can happen in the Premiership in Red - go for it.

what i'm confused about is...
a) are the malaysans or board providing funds
b) are we rebranding
c) if we are rebranding - what does that consist of
d) are we having new training facilities
e) Are the malaysians staying in the same capacity or are we seeking new investors
f) are we having extra seats
g) are we pushing for Prem of slugging it out not to drop this season
etc etc
all i know now is that TG statement on branding and pure speculation ever since - with a sprinkle of Doug Lee.
Are we selling Whitts or are we spending £5.5 mill on bids????
Are we paupers of princes?
Even if we had money - Who pays £5.5 mill in the championship?
BASICALLY - WHAT THE f**k IS GOING ON?
Thu May 24, 2012 12:48 pm
The premiership is certainly not everything.
Our identity is, and playing at home in blue definitely is.
I do not want us to play in red.
KEEP CARDIFF BLUE!!!

Depends on your personal definition of identity.
If it's the football team at CCS - then red, badge, nickname etc can go to hell as long as that's the case.
If it's a team in blue, with this (or a close varyation of this) badge:
.jpg.aspx)
called the bluebirds then you have quite a hardline on changes.
For me, colour of kit I could care less, but being called the bluebirds is important. It's all about where your line in the sand is. Just wish people wouldn't have ago at each other (on both sides) for what is a personal thing.

No, Never. Annis, I'd rather be Blue in League 2

Yes as it gives the majority of fans the opportunity to see us play the likes of Mna Ciy and United , Chelsea , Asernal etc and another important reason is we can hold on to players of Ramsey , Ledley,Matthews Johnson ,etc ...it's not all about dwindling attendances and dropping down the leagues and playing crap teams week in and week out just so you can say a few hundered of us were there on a cold Tuesday night at Rotherham or Hartlepool ,Lets get rid of this " Big fish in a small pond syndrome " mentality the upshot is our ambition as every other Club outside the top tier should be Premiership as the whole idea of leagues is based on the higher you climp the Higher you are rated as a Club, Team , Location ( just ask any Swansea fan) just remember the whole ideology of the Football Leagues was to created to establish who was the better team on a higher tahan the next team basis otherwise they may as well just do away with the the Premiership to the Blue Square Conference and have regional Leagues!.

Why is playing in Red or changing the logo changing you're identity? . I've seen many corps change their logo, their colour but deep down they're still the old corps, Many football Club have chnaged their grounds, they kit colours from that to when the 1st started , but they're still the same Clubs . We're trade has and are called Cardiff City and had long as that stands true and we play in the Capital, we haven't in any way lost our identity.
Getting into the Premiership is the dream the fans and Club have been chasing for years , every club in the football wants to play in the top division. Its not everything , because having a Club to watch is by far the most important to a fan of that Club , but the chance to see Liverpool, Man Utd , Spurs, ECT coming to Cardiff playing our own stadium on a weekly basis is what dreams are made off and would be brilliant for the fans, the City, The Club, the Players and Football in Wales in general

to me SURVIVING IS EVERYTHING, whatever the cost. as long as i can go and watch the football team i was born nearest to and live every second, that is all that matters. if nothing changes, nothing can get better, this is a fact. we all have good times, bad times which creates history in itself. i could go down the council offices and change my name to rosmarys baby or something if i want, but i CANT MAKE people not call me sam. and the clubs the same, the fashion police can av there 10 minutes but it still the best team in the capital city of its country, which i understand is CARDIFF.
Thu May 24, 2012 2:12 pm
How is changing the colour of the kit to red losing your identity? CARDIFF CITY is our identity.
Thu May 24, 2012 2:59 pm
It's not everything but would mean a lot.
It's about sustaining yourself there though is the big task.
Could we do that? Coarse we could, we're Cardiff City we do what we want!
Thu May 24, 2012 3:23 pm
the prem ain't everything to me. football is football, whatever league your in.
Thu May 24, 2012 3:37 pm
It wouldn't mean "everything" to me. I never thought I'd see us play in an FA Cup Final , but I did. I never thought I'd see us play in a Carling Cup Final , but I did. I never thought I'd see us play in the Premiership , and I haven't.
I'm now of the opinion that getting to the Premiership is a harder ask than getting to a Cup Final , but if I never see it happen , que sera sera.
Would I like us to change shirts so we can have a crack at it - YES.

Everything to you ? Not Really as i enjoyed watching the bluebirds in the lower leagues, I don't know if i would enjoy watching them in the new stadium though(it sucks)at a lower level with less fans.
Worth losing your identity ?
I will always be a bluebird even if they do change colours, I will always sing bluebirds songs at every game, changing our colours doesn't change us, we just got to remember to keep wearing BLUE shirts and keep singing BLUEBIRDS songs and boo any others.

Bridgend_bluebird wrote:How is changing the colour of the kit to red losing your identity? CARDIFF CITY is our identity.
Absolutely

We chose to play in black in an FA Cup final, did it make it any less special ? NO

The only thing that spoilt it was the result
We are Cardiff City because we come from Cardiff, not because we play in blue.
The question of whether the Prem is the be all and end all is debatable. But we support a football team and cheer them on in every game to win. If we lose a game this noticeboard is full of people saying how awful things are. If you follow that through it means if we get to the Prem we've won a lot of games and therefore that's what we been asking for for all these years
So I think what I'm saying is that we support our team through thick and thin but ultimately that shot at the big time is what motivates us, players, ,managers, owners, sponsors, etc. to throw our money at it

Sometimes in my 41 years following them it's been like pissing in the wind, now it's so close I want it even more and would swallow the red kit if that is all that is standing in our way
I recognise loads of people will feel differently but that's my view

I would much rather the days of 5k at NP to be honest. That way we can build from the start again, the real hardcore Bluebird support will remain and it will be a good way to distinguish us real Bluebirds from the significant plastic element of our support. The plastic army will f**k off to Old Trafford again I think
I have a strong feeling that the only ones remaining when we are in League Two will be the older generations who kept this club going in the 90s. The younger lot will not persevere in there support

Its certainly not everything I actually enjoy the championship, however I accept the proposals if it means the club is finally on a sound financial position. We can always revert back to Blue for home games when future new owners are in!
Thu May 24, 2012 7:20 pm
The Prem is overrated if you ask me. Only the top 4 or 5 clubs will ever win it and although there are riches to be had you have to spend it all on ridiculous transfer fees and wages. I want to see City win games so whatever level we have to settle at to see that then I'm happy. If its the Prem so be it but it doesn't bother me not being there.
And your identity is Cardiff City, regardless of what kit we wear.
Thu May 24, 2012 7:43 pm
The Premier League is not everything, far from it. Some people think that football started in 1992.
Our identity is CCFC. We play in Blue at home, and have a bluebird on our badge. The colour and the badge go together. Second and third kits, no problem. But Blue at home.
Besides, you can't buy your way into the PL.
Thu May 24, 2012 7:46 pm
Annis looks like the stay Blue brigade are totally outnumbered here and it seems more fans have done an about turn realising in the cold light of day what an opportunity we have and what a disaster it would be to bite the hand that feeds us it is nice to see common sense prevailing we will always have our history nobody can take that away but like someone as mentioned here it is out with the old and in with the new which began with our new Stadium, So lets build on the foundations of the past few years embrace the opportunties we are being given and further our history .
