Not sure he can have anything to discuss as under contract. The way he played post Christmas he was rubbish anyway. Sell and get 3/4 better players that consistently contribute more than him.

Luxury player always fades half way through the season.

Two years I think. I'm sure he signed a three year deal last season.

i dont care if he goes, overrated

Just hope that if he is to be sold, it isn't because our club are looking to cut costs because of our financial situation.

Don't get why he signed a new contract last year if he's going to have talks about his future this summer :/

Re: Peter Whittingham to hold talks with Cardiff next week

I honestly would sell him, just my opinion.

Re: Peter Whittingham to hold talks with Cardiff next week

He has two years left on his contract and is our star name. If he doesn't sign a contract extension someone will look to pick him up cheap with big contract offer next summer. So really he has to sign a new contract soon or be sold. He is 28 in sept so probably at his peak value and will only go down from this point on.

I agree with dorsetblue. Quality player that goes missing when the chips are down. Don't get me wrong fantastic servant for the club and I love watching him when in top form. If a premier club comes looking and the price is right let him go and bring in 3or 3 work horses who'll battle for the ball which is what we've been missing. I would not sell him to another team in our league though if he has two years left let him work for us.

Are you all serious? Theres a reason why clubs that are in the premiership want him! Easily the best player at the club and guaranteed to get double figures every season as well as getting assists! Theres a reason why he was voted 2nd best player in the league last year, you guys are mental if you want to sell him!

Has to be part of our business plan to sign cheap young players, hold on to them as long as possible and sell them at their peak value. How many more joe ledley's and Ross mcormack's can we let go for hardly anything when we have turned down decent bids.

Agree, I'd sell him but, only to a prem team, and only if he wanted to go.

Using Reading as an example...........getting shot of your star player/s isn't always a crisis situation if you replace them in the right way.

BUT,
Still love the buzz of getting a free-kick in the 'Whitts Zone' and seeing him stroll up to stroke it. They're never too far away from the mark fair play.
Would like to see him come out of his shell more in midfield play though.

3 clubs in for him 1 Prem 1 championship 1 AN Other

One of our best consistent players we have had over the years, he scores goals, makes goals and has always given his all to our club.

I'm sure most will agree that he is capable of playing at a higher level and was sprised he didn't move pre last season like Bella's, Burke, Chopra and Bothroyd did.

I'm sure his agent has had numerous calls over the last couple of months and I can only see him leaving over the summer. What sort of figure ? Around £3 million I reakon he will go for, would love him to stay, but sadly can't see it, would have stayed if we got promoted but just another Ledley scenario.

I think every manager would agree that any player has their price and if there's a team out there who are prepared to pay more than his real value then I would say let him go. As has already been pointed out he had more than his fair share of games this season where he went missing for long periods, sometimes his fault and sometimes where he had been targeted, but either way having him on the pitch in situations like that means he is not productive. Sell him and spend the money wisely.

Hes been a great servant but has gone off the boil for us since Christmas, but please Whitts turn down the jacks if they come sniffing round. Rogers was down the CCS against Derby watching someone.

He would 'NEVER' move to Swansea, you just dont do it !

If he wants to move on then he should be allowed to,otherwise we should definetly keep him, great player on his day at championship level and someone who is always capable of producing a moment of magic even on an off day

Top goal scorer and top assister this season. Be silly to get rid of him. Unless its stupid money.

Overrated player. Will have serious competition if he wants to start in premiership games

Re: Peter Whittingham to hold talks with Cardiff next week

I genuinely cannot understand why people would want to sell him

He's the best player at the club and the best player in the league by a country mile!

Hold on to him for one more year. I would personally keep him. But if anything with 4million offered or more we should cash in. Only way I would be happy to see him go if theres big money offered. But what ambission does it show selling our best player? :? :ayatollah:

Re: Peter Whittingham to hold talks with Cardiff next week

He was voted the best player outside the premiership for a reason. We should keep him for another year.

If we get promoted next year he will be able to play in the prem with us and I think that would really show his talents. In the prem you generally have more time on the ball than in the championship, so with his excellent passing the prem would suit him fine :ayatollah:

Our only player in the PFA team this year, but hey what do his fellow professionals know ?

If we sell him, who on earth is going to create and score our goals. We pose little enough threat as it is.

We'd be very lucky to get such a player for £3m.
