Now whilst my Wife was using these drugs she continued to relapse regularly as these drugs only reduced relapses by 30%. My Wife has been for a year, progressively been going down hill at a very steady rate so when she saw her consultant just over 4 months ago he decided to take her off her drugs saying there was new drugs being made available and these stop relapses up to 80% and even reduces disability, He explained my wife had to get the present drugs out of her system and a series of tests would be needed and her MRI had to show deterioration but for the first time her consultant had a smile and offered her hope as every day is a pain riddled experience.
His parting words was if her MRI showed no worsening or deterioration or there was deterioration it was a win win situation. Her tests showed she was compatible with these drugs and her MRI showed deterioration for which her MS Nurse phoned and said it was bitter sweet but the deterioration would help her get these new wonder drugs.
She was told: hopefully she could start these new drugs within 4 weeks and she had to see her consultant Monday to discuss this. But she has just suffered another relapse and is in considerable pain at the moment and today she got a phone call from her MS Nurse and she said her MRI has been looked at again by another so called expert and the deterioration isn't severe enough to give her these Drugs that she was convinced she would get, which believe me would change her life to the one she has got now.
They are now giving her another Drug that is in the same mold as the ones she had been taking which might reduce relapses up to 30%. How cruel are they to raise Cath's hopes for four Months only to be taken away because some bureaucrats have decided that Cath (to us) but to them most probably subject 3546 is not worthy of treatment.
I always thought the medical profession was to cause no harm but that is what they are doing to my Wife. They have left her with daily unimaginable pain no hope and no future. The only future she has is disability that will only get worse. And the bad thing is they can stop it but wont. She is so down and has been crying on and off for hours now. She is now falling asleep thank god. Sometimes i hate my Country i live in. Its a cruel heartless place which our health service is just politics.

This. All the politicians need to do is.
1.) Stabalise the economy
2.) Create growth and jobs
3.) Give each of them a decent budget.

Cath rang me in work to say she what had happened. To say she was distressed was an understatement and it got to me (Anger and yes i was upset) they sent me home on two counts that i was unable to do my work and that my Wife needed me. We have been through every emotion now. Thank god she is now asleep the only time she can escape the pain, and its killing me to see. I clung to the thought she could get her life back together. Monday we shall see her consultant and i have had to promise Cath that i will keep my cool, but in reality i don't know if i can keep my promise.

Very sad to hear. I really hope they find something to fight the disease. Really wish all the best to your wife.

Nukes, my sympathy goes to both you and your good lady...I know exactly how angry you feel because my wife and I went through the ringer when she was diagnosed with Kidney failureAt the time I was so irate that we had been left in the dark by the Health Service that I ended up making myself ill which made things ten times worse as I am her only carer...In the end we wrote directly to the Health Minister at the Welsh Assembly to complain about the lack of patient care and the strain it had put on both our health and relationship. This seemed to do the trick as her care since this time has been markedly improved...My advice is keep your cool (I know that is easier said than done) and I'm sure things will start to work themselves out for you both..Chin up
