" COMMENTS/OPINIONS PLEASE "

Malky makes a statement today.

In Oct/Nov Malky states 3 times in the media we need to strengthen if we are to go up.
Yet in Jan, they say he had £5 mill to spend. Something does not add up.

Today Malky states this.

"The two top clubs have shown the spending power this year with the teams they have got and the players they have got," he added.
"It's going to be difficult to match that. In January for West Ham to go out and bring in the players they have - it makes them much stronger."

i think its probably because he missed out on what he wanted, not that i ever thought we'd get automatic promotion mind!

We got promoted last season on a smaller budget than you have now.

It's not what money you have, it's what you do with it.

Those two had far more to spend than we did.

Since when westham spent just under 5million quid and saints signed billy sharp in jan so this staement makes him look a prick and the club for releasing it

He's being realistic. Hopefully gone are the days of silly over spending.. We will build a team/squad for a better push next season :ayatollah:

Very true. There are other variables in the equation-injuries & suspensions can totally ruin a season and the other key factor is use of loan market. Swansea got Borini last season-we got J-Lloyd-Samuel. Rodgers used his Chelsea connections well whereas Jones signed crap like JLS from the comfort of the golf course.

West Ham are utterly obscene though. They say they want for Torres and Tevez in January  , and they also signed one of the league's best strikers in Maynard (albeit at a reduced price due to the nature of his contract), as well as signing Vaz Te on the basis of an admittedly decent half-season.

Where would Sordell have fitted in though? I don't think he can play up front on his own and that's the system we've been playing for the majority of the season.

If being 3rd in the league four points above 4th place and one point below 2nd in jan with a reported 5million quid does not get a push on as you call it then there never will be one :ayatollah:

If you say so. They both had more to spend than what they did while offering Premier League wages. Fact is, we can't compete with that just now - regardless of the offers we made in January.

might of have £5 million but Malky does not rush into signing, as stated so many times by Carl. I'd much prefer taking time to sign the right players than put £5 mil at risk signing the unknown in a panic buy to keep up with the rest. We're doing great as it is, Vukic, Lawrence and Harris are welcome additions to a very cheap squad who're doing fantastic so far this season.
Now lets crack on push for play offs! :ayatollah:

Didn't you sign Borini at this sort of time last season? Have you seen him now? What's been going on with him?! Scored for Roma in the Rome derby last Sunday! Fair play to the guy

Also picked him his first full cap for Italy last week. He's quality.

What I can't understand Annis, is that the manager says many players are showing signs of fatigue? Sunday we had Craig Conway on the bench (one of the few in the team to actually look like he has an eye for goal) Blakey a more than adequate cover for anyone along the back four or midfield......Malky refused to use them when the game was crying for width?

Earnshaw should be given a chance Miller is firing blanks and needs a rest. Rudy is out of his depth to start matches (we need someone in on loan if possible)...I'd also like to see Harris on the bench just for his speed alone.

Tom Heaton deserves his chance between the sticks aswell....I would run with no keeper on the bench to include another impact player (when was the last time our keeper was substituted?)

Wiggy :ayatollah:

I didn't know that  No idea he was THAT good. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't he sign for Lecce on a long-term deal after leaving you, before signing on loan for Roma with a view to a permanent deal?

Heres the FACTS AS YOU call it ptb none of them spent over the 5million we was supposed to have had if you think are position in the league was not good enough to get more players in like westham/saints did, as for are offers 5-6 hours before deadline well that was a joke in its own rite. Please tell me when would be a better time for you to get players in, next season before we kick a ball or maybe if we ever get to 3rd spot again ???? Because jan we was in 3rd place four points above 4th and one one point below 2nd and all we had was "WE NEED MORE PLAYERS" comming in interviews/papers for 8months ,wake up will you

But look at the risk West Ham are running - if they fail to get promoted they are in a desperate situation. Is that spending power or spending foolishness? I think Malky is pointing out and wondering how you compete with wild and crazy spending.

It was Parma. He then joined Roma at the start of this season on loan with a view to a permanent £8m (I think) deal. I believe they have now agreed a co-ownership deal. He's scored something like 8 in his last 8 for Roma.

We were lucky to have him last year.

I think that the purse strings have been firmly pulled and quite rightly in my opinion.
Gone are the days of throwing money around, Malky knew his budget when he took the job and has done a great job.
I expect more changes in the summer, and onwards we will go.
really dont understand the doom and gloom people, but hey, in the last 2 weeks Malky has seen the 2 sides of Crdiff City fans, the good at Wembley and then the sulking over the top slagging off after our West Ham defeat.

Also you have ot take into account the Swansea team had been together for quite a while. Borini was the missing jigsaw puzzle they had missed out on for the last couple of seasons. last season was a weak league and the jacks took the chance and went up. Just goes to show how bad Jones was.

Our team this year is no where near as consolidated as the Jacks were last season. Yet we have got to a final and are still in with a chance of going up. Budgets does not guarantee top place as we all know, a cemented team stands a better chance. I've got a feeling this season that promotion is a bridge too far. A good summer of transfers next season and it could be very interesting for us.

He was great signing for you to be fair, i remember that free kick, against Norwich was it? Drogba-esque! Hopefully this Vuckic can go on to do similar things!

Oh yeah, Parma. They were down the CCS at the end of July. Co-ownership is very popular in Italy from what I can gather. Bit confused with it though

Well if you understood the basic principle that it puts into perspective your budget and the moans about not spending more, you would.

I have no problem talking about the jacks and how they got up. We would all swap places with them at the drop of a hat. Whether we like the way they avoided debt payments or not they got promotion on a fraction of our budget and dave jones should hang his head in shame at this fact.

i have no interest about talking or thinking about the jacks,
to me they are jsut another club that have made it to the Premiership, I put them on par with a club such as Wigan.
