How many years behind the mighty Swansea City are cardiff city?
Myself i believe 15 years is a very conservative guess, maybe 20 years? Anything below is just deluded on your behalf.
Come on sensible answers please.

I'd say we'll be promoted next season after another summer of rebuilding.
Whether you'll still be in the premier league is another question. With the run in you have you could be looking at drop this year so don't be too smug.

So how do you come to that conclusion then ?
We have 2 options:
1. Get promoted and pay off the debts and then enjoy the ride with a much bigger fan base, stadium that is ours (will be increased to 35k within 3 months) and younger team than you had when you reached the promised land. All backed by multi millionaire owners who have serious money to plough in once we reach the Prem. That could take 3 months or 10 years take your pick.
or
2. Take the option that you did; go into administration, wipe the debts (ensuring none of our creditors get the money they are owed) and build again. Do you honestly think that the Malaysians would seriously just pull the plug losing the money they've put into the longterm projects that they've initiated both here and in Malaysia using the Cardiff City brand ?
Is that sensible enough ?
Now, you be sensible and quantify how we are 10-20 years behind you. You don't even own your stadium and given some of the longterm contracts your players are on you are one relegation away from a 3rd administration because if it all goes tits up HJ certainly ain't got the money to bail you out. That won't be this year but it won't be any easier next season as 2nd seasons are notoriously tricky.

I have a sensible answer - Reading, Hull and Burnley have all been in the Premiership recently and I wouldn't say we were 15-20 years behind them?

Realistically, I would say Cardiff are about where we were in our first season in the Championship. Based on Martinez getting us there and we just faded away at the end of that season. I firmly believe that we would have improved the next season if Martinez didn't rip the guts out of our club with a few weeks of pre-season left.
Sousa fixed the defence (but I still shudder at the damage he could've caused at the Swans), then Rodgers picked up where Martinez left off, albeit with a bit more savvy in defence.
Based on that, Cardiff are about 12-18 months behind if Malky Mackay keeps improving them... Too many variables in football though.

Look i know you are all upset with recent results and i know what it's like to honestly believe you won't make the premiership in a million years. We are a perfect example of how it should be done. You can't blame a football club for an owners wrong doings, our fans actually stepped in and saved the club, we not only survived going out of the football league, we turned things around completely. I remember Cardiff City cries of "we'll never play you again" like it was yesterday, only now it looks like you could be right. We will establish our premiership status over the next couple of years and we'll expand the stadium or may even move into a new one who knows?
The main concern for you lot whilst this is all going on is when will you get the chance to experience premiership football? If you're honest you'd agree you're closer to league 1 than you are to premiership at the moment. Being a cardiff City fan in these times must be truly awful.
I can't see you getting in the premiership for at least 20 years yet, intact i'll bump this thread every season for the next 20 god willing!!

Hmmmmmmmmm, 2 points off the play-offs and 26 points off the relegation places. Interesting logic you have but wholly wrong you prat
So I suppose you are closer to the Champions League than you are the Championship

You've done well this year but don't get cocky, remember Blackpool last season ?

You wont get a new stadium and i think by the time you expand the liberace stadium of concrete in any significant capacity we will either be up there with you or you will be down here where we are..
Mon Mar 05, 2012 10:59 am
the bottom line is when your a true football fan you follow your team through thick and thin regardless of what league they are in.
Most city fans i know are not obsessed with the premier league even though it would obviously be great to get there, its all about being proud of how the team performs, malky mackay and his staff are forming a team we can be proud of.
Swansea deserved to go up but youll always be aiming for 17th place with everything else being a bonus and do you think the fans will stay if they go down? some attendances at the liberty last season were pretty poor with one match being a total sell out(guess who against)
Mon Mar 05, 2012 11:11 am
The thing is we can all go on about we done this you done that...what if this what if that..
But as it stands right here right now we are in the Premiership and have been a credit to Swansea & Wales, were looking pretty save so another season in the top flight watching world class football welcoming the likes of the Manchesters,Liverpool,& Arsenals of this world
You on the other hand are Division 2 bottlers and are not even in the play offs playing the likes of Peterboro,Doncaster,Burnley

Would that be the same world class football that is going to have no representative in the champions league quarter finals despite having 4 entrants? The standard of the premiership is dropping fast which is no bad thing for those who watch it because the likes of Swansea and Norwich have got results there. Personally I avoid it like the plague. My team don't play there so I have no interest in it.

I honestly couldnt tell you who united, man city, liverpool etc are playing this week, absolutely zero interest

what a tw*t you are who gives a toss what you think! having been city fan 40yrs so why would being one now be any different from div 3 ect ect its my team i will support it good or bad will you ?? in reality you are jumping on bandwagon of premiership but way you are running club live withoin means ect many clubs have tried that it fails as need money to spend on players longer in league the more you pay for players so wages ect go up as do running costs wite until close season see how many players go to bigger clubs! replacing them will cost you eventually go way of wigan ect as cant compete over long period, same for any club going up! me personally not bothered about premiership support my team in any league! will your fans do same def no as average crowd only about 13k last year

Cardiff:
Own their own modern stadium that already has considerably more capacity than the Liberty, with the scope for further expansion.
Have state of the art training facilities.
Have achieved Academy status for training their youngsters, with fantastic facilities to back that up.
Have virtually the same amount of season ticket holders as the maximum capacity of your ground.
Have much bigger crowds than you, despite not being in the Premiership.
Have billionaire owners, who are putting the club on a sound financial footing for the future.
Have a catchment area of over 1 million as a potential fan base.
Swansea:
Rent a council stadium, whose capacity is barely big enough for the Championship.
Can't expand as they don't own the stadium.
Train on a local council rec.
Ditto re training facilities for their youth teams.
Have an owner who is a local second hand car dealer.
Have a financial model that involves going into administration as soon as debts arise.
Have a catchment area of 100,000 (being very generous).
Have the same future as Wigan - you do not have a sustainable future in the Premiership beyond a season or two
, for all the foregoing reasons.
So taking all those facts into consideration, which club is geared up for long term & sustainable success? Even a dipstick like you might be able to work that one out. Here's a clue anyway ...... It's not the team beginning with "S".
