" Official Tributes Thread "

Mon Feb 27, 2012 2:36 pm

Right lads,

CraigCCFC said it would be nice to do something to show the lads we care and appreciate their efforts yesterday. So one of the things I thought we could do would be to do a tributes thread where you all post up something positive (any ridiculous negativity to be deleted please!) to the players and then maybe Carl or Annis could print it off and pass it on to the players so they can read this out.

It might be a good way for them to realise how highly we think of them. It will let Miller know that his late miss was unlucky because he did outstandingly well to get into that position and create the chance. It will let Rudy know he performed much better than a £35m rated target man. It will let Gunnarsson, Cowie, Whittingham and Mason know that they matched a Premiership midfield. It will let Super Kev and Taylor know that they held tight and stopped dangerous wide men from putting decent crosses in. It will let Turner and Hudson know that we respect how much they put their bodies on the line. It will let Heaton know that even though we lost the shoot out, his save was one of the best penalty saves ever. It will let Blake and Kiss know that their brutality made sure Liverpool did not settle. It will let Tony G know that know matter what he thinks, it's the fact he stepped up that matters to us, not that he missed. Like I said, anyone can miss a penalty but not anyone can have the balls to step up to the plate. It will also let Malky and his staff know that they have evolved this club for the better and that there is a job to finish here with a legacy to be made that could last for decades.

So lads, give your thoughts here and if I could ask Carl or Annis or anyone close to the team to print these posts off and pass them onto the players. :ayatollah:

Please tell every one of them that I and my three sons walked out of Wembley proud to be Bluebirds last night despite the heartbreak of the result. I didn't hear anyone slagging any of our players off because it was obvious that they could not have given any more for the cause and win or lose thats what we ask of them. They can each hold their heads high because they represented Cardiff City with a passion I haven't seen from city players for years. I have spoken to many people today, quite a few of which had no interest in football never mind our club, and every one of them watched the game and was rooting for us because of the performance they gave in our name.

I have watched the Bluebirds for over 47 years and I can honestly say that I have never been as proud of the team as I was yesterday.

I'm 56 years old and I'm not afraid to admit I was crying when Ben Turner scored I'm just sorry that the team didn't win.

Sorry for them not for me after an absolutely fantastic effort. Heroe's every single one of them.

In my 39 years of supporting City, that was probably my proudest moment,Its years since I have celebrated goals like I did yesterday, to me in my heart we won the cup. We nearly beat one of the greatest teams in football and in a major final at Wembley,we drew on the day and took them all the way, we gave everything. Our team worth about £4mill, theres £145 mill.
A day my wife/children and I will never forget. THANK YOU.

Money can buy talent but it can never buy guts, spirit and determination. The heroic efforts all of you displayed on the big stage on Sunday will never be forgotten by all of us who were there. Never have I been so proud to call myself a Cardiff City fan. EVERYONE can hold their heads up high. You were a credit to yourselves and your families!

Proud as I've ever been watching that display yesterday at wembley :ayatollah:
To take one of the biggest clubs in the world to a penalty shoot out and all 5 of u that took a spot kick are braver than any of the 90000 inside that ground that were watching :ayatollah:

The effort, the determination, the spirit that all you players show is second to none :ayatollah:

And this is the best Cardiff City squad and manager we have had in the 34 years I've been a bluebird :ayatollah:

Wherever we finish this season we know you guys have done your best and kept going to the final whistle,
As the game on Sunday showed :ayatollah:

Hold your heads up high chaps, the world was watching and you deserve the credit that everyone is giving you!!

I have been supporting the City for well over 30 years and that was my proudest ever moment watching the City. They all put in 100% over the entire match. No one blames anyone for the Penalties and tell Gerrard to pick up his head as he does not deserve to walk round with his chin on the floor. Heroes the bloody lot of them.

I just want to say the whole team made me and every Cardiff City fan so proud to wear the blue shirts. Never celebrated so much in my life when Mason scored, and Big Bens goal had me in tears.

From fans view,we couldnt ask for anymore.well done to each and everyone of you :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

To a man you where fantastic and gave everything you had, I love my club no matter who plays and who's in charge but every one of you there right now make me love it that little bit more. Dont be downhearted or dispondent push your chests out with your chins high because the resolve and unity you guys shown at wembley instills belief in me that your hardwork will be rewarded come this may, next may or the may beyond that. Proud proud bluebird

ask anyone in football a loss on penalties is not a loss at all
you matched one of the best teams in the country and the world over 120 minutes
and thats what counts
you may have not have lifted the physical cup, you certainly lifted a psychological one
we are all proud of you
heads held high and push on for promotion

The boys did incredible, and if they do read this they need to know that the fact they lost does not matter! They went up against one of the most successful clubs in the world, who beat Manchester City at the Etihad, who beat Chelsea at the Bridge, who've won the League Cup the most times in history. They were a team full of world class talent, experienced players like Carragher, Gerrard, Suarez, Reina and you, Cardiff City went to Wembley as the biggest underdogs and everyone expected to be thrashed and you ran them scared. You may have lost lads, but you fought with passion that makes football great. I've never seen so much passion and belief that you could do what you did and no-one is more grateful than the fans. You put your bodies on the line, strained, weak and broken and you kept playing. Gunnarson forcing himself to limp to passes and limp for a long throw in instead of leaving the pitch to be treated.

You did the club, the fans, the city, the whole country proud. Wales may have beaten England in the rugby with passion but you accomplished something beyond all odds, statistics and facts to take a team who had 60% + possession, over 35 shots and worth £135m and made yourselves look like a top world class team. Rudy played better than a £35 million Carroll, Heaton showed his world class goalkeeper potential, Whittingham, Gunnarson, Cowie, Mason you bossed a midfield which had Henderson, Gerrard, Adam and Downing and Hudson, Turner, Taylor, Anthony, McNaughton and Blake threw themselves on the line, stopped fatal passes and shots to keep us in the game.

Well done you bluebirds, up and up we go to the Premier League to show them what we accomplished at Wembley, we'll take the extra step at Anfield!!!

Where do I start...yesterday I started my day out with little or no expectations of victory against the supposed mighty Liverpool. Within 20 minutes of the start of the game my outlook had completely changed and it was the you the players that had persuaded me to believe!! Throughout the game there were highs and lows, gasps and growls as we played our part in one of the best ever League cup finals. Even after going behind during extra time by then I had no doubt we could and would save the day and there wasnt a City fan around me who didnt feel the same. There was no shrugging of shoulders no heads in hands only pride, passion and belief!! Cardiff City as a family are a close knit bunch who thrive off passion, hard work and the pride of wearing the famous blue shirt. On Sunday through your hardwork, skill and never say die attitude you rightly earned your place in Bluebirds folklore but more importantly each and everyone of you have gained every City fans utmost respect for your efforts! Chins up lads be proud of what you have and what you will go on to achieve. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

What a day, so proud of you boys and under malky who knows more cup finals could be on :ayatollah:

Thank you for your efforts yesterday, I cried when turner scored and im not ashamed to admit it, Well done boys keep the heads up and lets fight for those play offs :ayatollah:

P.S Gerrard ive missed a penalty in a shootout, obviously not as in those circumstances, but it takes some balls to get up there, so keep your chin up :ayatollah:
