From Palace fan, via text: "Re 1901. Would a Premier League team choose relegation and a Carling Cup victory over another season at the top of English football?
I guess we should ask Birmingham City fans that!?!
danm6038 on Twitter: "Re 1942. As a Blues fan that Wembley day is one never to forget. Definitely wouldn't give it up for another year in the Prem!"
From Sophie in Leeds, via text: "As a Birmingham fan, I can confirm that the answer is yes - winning a trophy is much better than being 17th in the Prem. Europa league is fun, too!"
ThomasStenson on Twitter: "Birmingham City season ticket holder for last 11 years, would 100% win the carling cup and go down then win nothing and stay up."
1950: A fairly resounding reaction then (there were more than just those three replies I've included below) from Birmingham fans who would choose winning the Carling Cup over staying in the Premier League. I recall several Portsmouth fans said the same about their FA Cup victory too.

After what I've seen of the Premier league this season I can sort of understand. I bet the Birmingham fans are also enjoying this season in the Championship far more than the constant grind of the Prem.
It was brilliant getting to the Premier league last season, but being in it is strange after years of trying to get there, in all honesty it's a bit of a let down. And as one of them mentioned, after years of pushing at the top of the other leagues, aiming for 17th place feels weird.

As said though in twenty years time the prime pages of the facts and figures books will show premiership winners, fa cup winners and league cup winners.

Football is all about the trophies and IF we win, and lets be fair its a massive IF. That trophy win will be ours forever. Just like the FA Cup. Nobody is interested in the 10-12 years we spent at the top level, but everyone knows we won the cup. So on that level it is.
On the other hand promotion will give the club week in week out top level football, but then maybe only for a season or 2. Could we guarantee we'd be competitive. It will also bring a huge amount of income into the club and a stadium extension up to around 32000, (read Maly today) -thats a big deal. The parachute payments, ridiculous that they are also mean that shuld we go down there is a good chance of getting back up again and it coud give us the much needed financial stability - although VT and TG seem to have given us that to a degree anyway.
By the way this isn't a comparison with the Jacks, much a sit hurts to say so far they have done superbly, but from me as a City fan I'd choose the Cup win first. After we lose on Sunday though we can go back to trying to go up.![]()
we have the best team , manager, play the best football i and any other jack has seen for decades and you have a numpty like scotsjack saying he's disappointed ! what does the bloke want for gods sake you would get annoyed as well , football is a cruel game and in a couple of seasons it could all be different and you could be looking down on us and i guarantee you'll be taking the piss so excuse me for enjoying the moment , enjoy your day out sunday but i still hope you get hammered
By the way scotsjack seems a top guy, giving a well rounded opinion, much like a fair few of the Jacks who post on CCMB. The rest of the berks could do well to lose the chips and take a leaf out of his book.
Can't believe how wound up (t)waddle is getting over us having outr own opinion.![]()

My thoughts exactly mate, you can never take a trophy from a clubs history. Said the same before the FA cup.
