He's got a good footballing mind, but his body isn't a temple. I don't think we at city ever saw him get a run of games to give him a truly accurate review. That's not to say he would have got loads better: system we layer, players we have around him, pace we play it were probably never going to suit Jon.

But if you have a team set up for him to hold the ball up and others to pick up off that he could do well. Also feed The Beast and he will score.

He is on £9,000 a week   thanks to the Riddler (Peter Ridsdale) and Dave Jones.

Unless we are willing to cut our losses, I cant see you affording him, but he would do well for you. :ayatollah:

I think every team wants him just to shout BEASTTTTTTTTTT at him haha

We are probably quite similar in style of play as yourselves, we play it on the floor and attacking never say die attitude kind of thing free flowing and away from home a lot of counter attack play! :)

I think he will do well for you, great in the air as he doesnt get bullied because of his size. :ayatollah:
Great if you can get someone to play off him.
Didnt get much to see of him to be honest.
Im sure you can easily afford his wages - ie - 50 Big Mac meals a day. :D

I think at least 90% of cardiff fans agreed that parkin on the cheap was a decent bit of buisness by Dave Jones, cover for Bothroyd and a bit of championship calibre, bullied our centre backs for preston and scored a hat trick against Leeds a few weeks previously.
I wouldnt say hes lazy personally just simply lacks a bit (ok a lot)of skill and flair and will maybe fit into the Bury side better than he did ours.
good luck for the season Bury fan

This is one thing we can't blame on Riddler, as Riddler left in May 2010. We signed Parkin in January 2011.
Although we can blame DJ.

I think he would be a great signing for you. As mentioned he isn't a fitness freak but at your level he will certainly be a handful.

Re: Jon Parkin Bury fan here

Fri Jan 13, 2012 3:20 pm

Think Parkin would do a decent job in your Division just not mobile enough for the Championship but he's decent in the air and got a good touch for a big man and will get you a few goals and give defenders a torrid time.

I would have thought wages would be a big stumbling block but perhaps you could pay him a goal bonus for every goal he scores he gets 5 pies that should swing the deal ;) :D
