" GOODBYE EARNIE ? "

Sat Jan 07, 2012 4:58 pm

Our players came over at the end and applauded the 1,400 City fans, but Earnie went further and he clapped and he clapped and he clapped with a tear in his eye. Hmm
Many fans asked each other is that his last game ?

4-2
Class came through in the end and WBA had quality on their bench to call on.
WBA are struggling to score in the Premiership.

Good fight by Cardiff :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Will be sad if its right mate, but as they also say in boxing , they never come back. Earnie was a good for Cardiff in his time.
But his time has gone and we must move on, after all no one players or even Manager is bigger than the club. Players will come and go, fans will also do the same, but lets hope there will always be a Cardiff City for more great players to come to. :ayatollah: :old:

I think the world of Earnie and I was really looking forward to watching him play in our shirt again but if I'm honest we are yet to see the same player that we all remember.

What Carl has described certainly from a body language viewpoint would suggest sadness, and not just at losing a game, so if Earnie does leave I will be sad but will always respect him because he as always respected us.

" Earnshaw to leave Bluebirds "
January 2, 2012 | Filed under: Cardiff City,Nottingham Forest,NPower Championship | Posted by: NeilP

It appears that Cardiff City and Welsh international Robert Earnshaw will be on his way out of The Cardiff City stadium this transfer window after only six months at his home town club.

30 year old Earnshaw joined the Bluebirds in a wave of optimism in July 2011, arriving from Nottingham Forest on a free transfer.

Earnshaw who started his career at Cardiff and went on to play for West Brom, Norwich City and Derby County has found himself out of Cardiff manager Malky Mackay’s plans this season due to a loss of form and Mackay’s likening for playing with one striker up front who at this moment is Kenny Millar.

A source close to Cardiff City told Footie Online that Earnshaw moving on would free up some cash for Mackay to spend this January and strengthen Cardiff’s push for promotion.

It also appears Nottingham Forest are keen to take Earnshaw back as they need fire power this season in their relegation fight.

They are also willing to talk to Cardiff about the Bluebird’s long time target 23 year old Midfielder Lewis Mcgugan and Earnshaw may well be involved in some sort of swap deal plus cash.

Its very interesting how many people on here and the other MB say he's past it.

As far as goals to minute ratio's go this season, I would say Earnie has the best out of our squad this season? Thats just a guess though, but it cant be far off.

Thats what he's done all his career - score goals. He's made a very good career out of it too. However, there are limits to Earnie's game, such as aerially, holding the ball up, bringing others into play etc. These limits become exposed in the system we currently operate under Malky. Miller, Mason suit our style better and therefore offer Malky the better option.

Take Earnie's time at WBA for example. In the top flight where they somehow stayed up he scored 14 Premier League goals - thats excellent in a struggling side especially as he didnt play every game. Then all of a sudden, he's out of favour and not wanted by them - due to his limits and not being able to lead a line.

Miller goal wise has hardly set the championship alight this season (granted he has been steady). However, he is able to lead the line and bring our other important players into the game in dangerous areas, thats why despite not being as clinical as Earnie, we would all rather Miller start.

If we were able to name 7 subs, im sure Earnie would have nicked us a couple more late goals when needed, but with only 5 subs allowed perhaps it would be wise for Earnie to move on somewhere where he will get more game time.

Small goal poachers like Earnie are a dying breed, it seems these days strikers who have the all round game are preferred as the old 4-4-2 system has gone out of fashion somewhat.

Earnie may not be sensational and explosive like he was years ago, but he is far from past it goalscoring wise at this level. Notts Forest fans are keen for him to return - what does that tell you (he was only there as recent as 6 months ago).

It will be sad to say goodbye to him for the final time, but it may be for the best if we need to free up funds for a more suitable player.

Not once did I say he hasnt been a good signing. Im simply talking about goals. For the 1st ten games he was poor, but he's vital to how we play now.

So my quote about him not setting the world alight GOAL - WISE (please notice this) is correct:

Also just to note fella, £1M is not exactly cheap for a 32 year old. Especially where our budget is concerned. But thats for another debate. Malky knew he had to get Miller, and had to pay it - was a fair price, not cheap.

With his agent, Willie McKay, doing all thw wheeler dealing at Doncaster it wouldn't surprise me to see Earnie get a loan move there in this transfer window.

I suppose it is how you look at it. If you factor in the £1.5m we got for Chopra then getting Miller for 1 million Euro's (around £800,000) could be considered as cheap espeically as IMO Miller is a far better player/striker.

theres nothing wrong with earnie. Its just malky has a formula and earnie is unfortunately incompatible. i still wouldnt get rid cos when we talk about strength in depth then he is good enuff for our squad but if he has to be shifted to bring in 2 then in malky we must trust :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Of course, you too.

I was only comparing Earnie to Miller goal wise. Miller is a more of an all-rounder who knows where the net is, when Earnie is just all about goals goals goals - nothing much else to be fair.

I would say both in their prime, playing week in week out in this league, Miller would get around 15 goals. Earnie would get 20+.

However, who is more vital to a team? Most definately in the system we operate, Miller is.

I think we should keep Earnie until the end of the season and then review his situation.

With Rudy out now probably for a while, Earnie will be making the job. Earnie is without doubt 1 of the best players in the championship that doesn't even make the bench.

Malky will do what's best though! :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:
