" HUGE INCREASE IN SEASON TICKET SALES "

Sun Dec 18, 2011 2:51 pm

Whoever is responsible for marketing at the club should really be congratulated - We have sold an incredible 18,244 season tickets so far this season - this figure could rise even further if the take up on half season tickets is well received.

This seasons total is made up of the following:-

5,716 in the ninian stand

2,377 in the grandstand

3,691 in the canton stand

4,962 in the family stand

1,321 benefit from the first class hospitality.

Do you think we can sell 20,000 season tickets in the near future?

" A snap shot of the REMARKABLE RISE is listed here ;- "

2004 - 9,921 season tickets

2005 - 8,018 season tickets

2006 - 6,525 season tickets

2007 7,459 season tickets

2008 - 8,757 season tickets

2008 - 14,086 season tickets

new stadium

2009 15,968 season tickets

2010 17,857 season tickets

The Riddler had many faults but has to be applauded for changing the season ticket culture down the City

Agree on this, the 5 year price freeze has really kept things ticking over

Took advantage of a massive opportunity with the FA Cup final and those that jumped on board then seemed to have continued buying STs.

Prior to that I only had season tickets when my cousin was playing for City (and got them at half price  ) or used to buy match day tickets.

I started typing about the FA cup above but stopped because couldn't be asses
But yes totally agree... IF we can get to the Carling cup final I believe we could sell put of ST tickets for next season if it's marketed correctly

The zebra finance scheme is to good to miss, £60 odd per month for 5 months. And 5yr price freeze, I'll defo renew and I've only been 3 times this season. :ayatollah:

Joff, we certainly have come a long long way. :ayatollah:

I remember when we only had 200 season ticket holders in the early 90's and also midd 80's. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Renewed mine every season since 1972/73 season. :ayatollah:

Oops showing my age.

I will never give him credit for this, Sam had the dream/vision and started the ball rolling. Sam got us in to the Championship, the Riddler just jumped on the band wagon.

Luke, It was getting to Wembley that was the final icing on the cake for the season ticket sales.

I was going to say, until he accepts responsibility for the golden ticket scam, he will never get any credit from me regarding season ticket sales.

Steve, the problem with the Riddler, he is like an MP, he believes in his own lies, so he will never admit any lies/deceit.

Haha, that's so true. Even watching him being interviewed before the Preston game on Saturday, I could just remember what he was like with us. Scary that he's still involved in football and as a chairman. He's already passing the responsibility onto the Preston board for decisions which is a sure fire indication that he's on a one man mission to f**k that club up and then leave the mess with somebody else. His quote before the Preston game was...

"Remember, there is a whole board at this club. I'm just the chairman. I consulted with the board to sack Phil Brown and it was a decision the board came to."

Funny thing is that he could be a brilliant chairman, he has the contact and the people skills but just not the common sense and puts his own revenue before the clubs, always chasing that dream.

Exactly, he's after best case scenarios the entire time and he just doesn't learn from his lessons. The trouble is he has no qualms about letting others suffer as he always seeks to chase the dream as you say.

Annis, you're right! I think I've just found inspiration for a lead character in a sitcom revolving around the day-to-day running of a football club. The parallels between Peter Ridsdale and David Brent are unbelievable!

The best, I have to give him that.

Luke
Your right he does have the contacts big time as well.

His self importance is what destroys him and in turn the clubs he works for.

Yes Annis those American investor are really the big time

Being serious Ridsdale has found a niche and is exploiting it for all its worth. There will always be football clubs in financial trouble and due to his amazing luck whilst at CCFC he has probably carved out a long term career for himself as a financial 'troubleshooter'

You have to admire the brass arsed way he talks his way out of sticky situations and I still remember the Muni Club meeting where he turned a baying crowd wanting to kill him into one that gave him a standing ovasion by the end.

He successfully batted away every question thrown at him (that was the night the Trust really did show how useless it is) and had everyone thinking what a great guy he was by the end. Indeed I bought my Golden Ticket the next day

I'm just glad we have had our turn and survived by the skin of our teeth. I wouldn't wish him on any other club, but lets just say I'm glad he is well away from us at Preston.

Regarding the price freeze........didn't some clubs actually reduce saeson ticket prices for this season? This practise is likely to continue while times are hard. Meanwhile, our prices are frozen. Good deal for the club, not such a good deal for the fans?

I think £360 (£16 a game) is decent value for a championship club always competing at the top end of the table.

i have to say theres so much i disagree with here....

firstly why people put the titles of new topics in speach marks "" really irritakes me, not as if your directly quoting anything. and surely makign a topic is enough to show its 'you' thats writting something.

secondly who ever does marketing, if anyone, should be shot. we are a capitol city with no real large teams near us, so basically the area is all our pool to get our own fans in and yet we cant sell out our stadium, ever ! we have i read a fan base of 60/40 ratio of cardiff fans ....from outside the city itself and inside. to me thats shocking and we should sell out with ease with even basic marketing.

we have only sold 400 more than last season so the inscrease is minmal. yes from 10 years ago its huge but that sonly because we have been successful, got promoted and put out a competative team and a new stadium. those crowds would of increased like this with or without marketing as its natural due to on and off the field circumstances.

lastly i dont think we can sell 20000 ST as we have to keep a certain percentage to away fans and for general sale for each game so unless we extend the capacity i dont think we can.

discuss :)

Never thought about the speech marks and tbh dont care

I agree we should have more fans from within Cardiff but not sure what type of marketing will help. Everyone knows when the games are and if they dont it easy enough to find out.

400 increase is minimal in terms of the overall number but its also a massively positive point. For ST Sales to increase in these hard times and while other clubs attendances are dropping its a huge boost. I dont think anyone would have been surprised to have seen a drop in ST holders so an increase is even more remarkable.
